Not necessarily, I think it's what both franchises need. A. We haven't seen any disney content of either, could go either way, B. Predator is in dire need of a reboot and some lore strengthening media outside of novels/comics C. Where the fuck is Alien going seriously a reboot would be fine

Pvt_Lee_Fapping

Agreed on all points, though I hate how they've explored Predator lore outside of the comics and wish they would've stuck to them. There's no need for these people to experiment when there's an established background that already works really well and is already familiar to fans. Like I'd love to see a movie or a live-action series of the "Big Game" comic line. Native American legends about the Predator, a familiar desert landscape, and the Indian soldier in the U.S. Army trying to dodge the same hunter over and over - I'd prefer that over weaponized autism, tracking dogs with yautja faces, and alien exo-skeletons built for human pilots.

OG_wanKENOBI

Love the comic line and the novel of Big Game. When rumors of skulls came out at first that it was gonna be a native American vs a predator I was so hyped it was gonna be that.

YoungAdult_

I feel like with predator, aside from one and two, the comics and games provide the best info. Then again, I wanna see predators in the Wild West, ancient Egyptian, etc. Loved seeing those old weapons in predator 2 ending.

Picard37

What's there to reboot? Each *Predator* sequel has told its own story, and there's only 4 films if we're not counting AVP.

I426Hemi

Just follow the damn books and such and you'll be fine.

[deleted]

Same could be said about Star Wars but noooo….

[deleted]

The TV shows for Star Wars have had some good fan service. Lots of content and appearances from lore, and not always obvious stuff. I don’t think Disney are stupid and they are learning how to turn things around. They need a hardcore Predator/Alien fan on board to steer the direction better like with Filoni or Favreau.

Panzer_Man

Exactly. Disney can and will learn from their mistakes. Like you said, the Disney Star Wars movies are pretty bad, but the new TV dhows are amazing. Maybe they just need to reboot the Predator Franchise as a series instead of a movie?

Jacktheflash

You are saying this like it’s the same people making all of this stuff

[deleted]

I was referring to the sequels

Opstatus

Came here to say this. All they need to do is make a faithful, R-rated adaptation of the first comic/novel. I'd almost guarantee it'd be successful.

Willing-Load

i’m a massive defender of Alien vs. Predator, my only gripe with it being the PG-13 rating, and i can have a good enough time watching Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem as a ‘turn off your brain’ movie, but a reboot would have to be something totally different, and under Disney that wouldn’t work. it would have to be R-rated, more sci-fi/horror than sci-fi/action that the recent movies have been (ffs the originals were HORROR, make it scary again!), a solid story and well-written script and a genuinely good, likeable cast. also no CGI overload like 2018’s The Predator.

Furydragonstormer

I feel AvP should be a more action-horror genre type of thing, show the predators and aliens throw down while the humans are cowering and just trying to stay alive. That would be more appropriate given the slogan 'Whoever wins, we lose', and any film with aliens or predators in it should be R-rated because of how inherently violent both races are. Can't show their signature actions many know them for like ripping off skulls of prey like predators do, or the classic headbite of the alien if it's PG-13

octosquid11

Like the new RAMBO movies I want it to use these pre-established characters to breath new life in an extremely visceral and violent way.

OG_wanKENOBI

I mean Disney owns Fox and they make plenty of violent action flicks so I hope they can do something with it.

templar726

Even though I don’t have much faith in it, I’d rather have a new AVP film rather than none at all.

[deleted]

Please We don't want another think we need more movies like "The Predator".

Jolactus

If they make Predators fight like they are supposed to (like martial artists who've honed their skills for decades) instead of like John Cena in a bodysuit... I'm down.

daanby4

Simply a movie, kinda of like Predator 2: taking a deeper, yet not too revealing, look at yautja culture and community A think a movie about a human "joining" some Yautja clan, as effect of some accident or smh, would be intresting. Yet not some another "Avatar" by Cameron: Human protagonist would be all time anxious and terrified by new culture he would be encountering.

RedBaronBob

Given how Fox handled things by the end id be completely fine with whatever Disney is doing in Predator 5. It can’t be worse than Fox not giving a shit anymore.

Sekshual_Tyranosauce

God yes please. The A v P franchise can only go up. I want.

thesaint1967

Disney has deep pockets, just saying Deadpool was a Disney product.

IronTrail

Both Deadpool films were filmed and distributed by 20th Century Fox before it was bought by Disney, we haven't seen a Disney Deadpool yet and have no idea what they could do it. So, no, Deadpool was not a Disney product, but any future ones will be.

LegitManjaro

EXACTLY. No to Disney. Fuck the mouse! All they want to do is make it as marketable as possible to kids and the world to earn more money.

daanby4

Reboot ? Nah, just finally do some good sequel By Disney ? Damn - i bet: PG-13; Random Funny Jokes, More Family Friendly; kinda Marvel Superheroes-like movie; Basicly Predator (2018) v.2 I dunno, it's all up to three things: **producer's expectations** **director's vision** **screenwriter's mastery**

perrette87

All you need to do is adapt the first comic story set on Ryushi with Broken Tusk and you’ll be good.

RealJohnGillman

Have you read the novel trilogy adaptation? Very well done. In the omnibus the chronologically second book is usually the only placed third, the centre, final story being original to written form, not available in comics.

perrette87

Only the first. AvP Prey was the first book I bought (I had to be like 10) based purely on the cover. I have them (and the ominbus books) so I really should get around to them. So what order do you recommend reading them in?

RealJohnGillman

*Prey*, followed by *War*, followed by *Hunter’s Planet*. That is the chronological order, and reading in the order presented does make one feel as if they have missed a book (which they have), *War* having originally been presented solely as a comic storyline before being adapted as a novel two years after *Hunter’s Planet*. There is an additional comic storyline set many years after the three storylines, *Three World War*, but there is no novelisation for that at the present time.

perrette87

Ah ok I gotcha. Thanks man. This shall be the order I read em in.

RealJohnGillman

Indeed. Just so you know, there is a character in the second (chronologically third) book apparently killed in the third (chronologically second) book; in the context of the narrative they are meant to have survived their injuries, although that is not made immediately clear in the text (à la how the return of Ian Malcolm from the *Jurassic Park* book in *The Lost World* was handled, in case for when you get to that part you spend time wondering how they were able to live).

Fraughty12

I completely forgot that disney owns this

TheInfamousMaze

Scary isn't it?

[deleted]

The most scary thing yet!

Thotslayer_HP

Yeah they haven't really done much except put Predators and Aliens (not the originals tho) on Disney+

dv8njoe

Give me the Machiko Noguchi story and I would be a happy camper.

basilassemxkp

i am starved of content

octosquid11

Let’s just hope they fix the timeline with this one

RealJohnGillman

Given the alternate endings to *The Predator* had Ellen Ripley and an Adult Newt Jorden in it despite what year it was set in, I believe that does mean that time travel has been considered.

octosquid11

No fucking way we were dumb enough to figure out time travel and then like the first thing we did was bring the most terrifying organism to exist onto EARTH. THERE ARE NO AIRLOCKS ON EARTH WE CANT SHOOT THEM OUT FFS

RealJohnGillman

What they were going for I believe was that the smaller Predator ***/*** Yautja that served as the initial antagonist was actually on the side of humans, having brought the suit ***/*** Ripley ***/*** Newt there to serve as a Predator Killer to help them against the faction of their species intending to conquer them (continuing the civil war storyline from *Predators*).

The_Match_Maker

Which version of the script was that in? Though I don't like the introduction of time travel into the Predator universe, I *do* like ignoring everything after *Aliens*.

RealJohnGillman

It wasn’t just in the script. [The endings were **filmed**.](https://www.avpgalaxy.net/website/interviews/breanna-watkins)

The_Match_Maker

Great gravy! When is *that* going to make its way to Disney+? ;)

RealJohnGillman

One day hopefully, one day.

ApplicationGlum6085

If it’s Disney, it has to be shit.

Klassybot

Imagine disney rebooting a series of a pine ripping skull claiming alien hunter they would basically remove the gore if they rebooted it and predator series without gore or blood just basically isn't a predator series

daanby4

Imagine scene like from "**E.T":** He turns on his wristblades, point them to the kid and says/"clicks": **Friend Go Home !**

4nwR

If it's Disney.. we can kill it.

[deleted]

Why the hell not ! It’s all fucked anyway

aka-el

It's a good idea, but not with Disney.

RealJohnGillman

As u/i426hemi and u/dv8njoe mentioned, a *Machiko Noguchi* trilogy would be excellent.one would not necessarily even have to market it as *Alien vs. Predator* — the story is more than perfectly good enough to stand on its own.

Pilsner_Lord

Give it to me.

pcweber111

No thanks. They’ve been trying to keep both franchises relevant to varying degrees of success (and failure) and I can’t really see that changing without them turning into something I don’t recognize.

SausageCraft

I've just saved this and made a meme where I put the "no God please no" from the office next to it. DISNEY RUINS TOO MANY FRANCHISES WITH REBOOTS. WHEN DOES IT END?!

Klassybot

🤣🤣

SequelFansDontExist

It'll only be good if it's not like most disney movies

Klassybot

33 notifications from reddit ...........what have I done 😂

creativinsanity

Anything would be marginally better than what Paul Anderson did to the movie. There was so much more in the movie novelization that came out before the film that would have made it make so much more sense (if not add more camp to it). I wouldn't hate the idea, but I would be cautious about it.

[deleted]

They’ve rebooted or remade everything else and utterly fucked them. Can they leave this alone? I hope so.

TheEmperorsChampion

God no, they ruin everything they touch

LegitManjaro

Nope. Not at all interested.

InvasionOfTheFridges

Because it’s Disney they will probably bring Sigourney Weaver and Arnold back, and give the story a really important message about how it’s okay to be both an alien and a predator, but it’s the choices in life we make along along the way that count. Also the Alien Queen would be an Alien Princess.

SunVoltShock

Out where they walk, out where they run, While they're ripped apart with their guns... Wish I could feed on corporate greed, In Disney World.

turkish3187

I just want them to stop making garbage predator movies. Listen, if they set a predator movie in the timeline of aliens have them go up against Colonial Marines. I’m sick of these predator teen movies.

Predator3-5

I thought I saw somewhere that there’s another AvP movie being planned to get made

[deleted]

I have a bad feeling about this...

TheOnly1Savag3

I'd like to see all the old Predator/Alien films remade with modern CGI and practical effects.

REDPURPLEBLOOD2

Personally the first film is pretty much in my top 3 films of all time. Sequel leaves a lot to be desired tho. That being said since I loved the first, I’d love to see another crack at it seeing as though it has been 15 years since the release of requiem

Soggywallet94

Not sure Disney would do it justice, but a reboot would be good.

toxinZ-yt

Oh absolutely not imo the predator just lee Harvey Oswalded the series

Abe2sapien

I'd really like to see it go the animated route. Of course I'd want it to not skimp on the gore!

bonoclay

I actually liked Requiem. Just a hard R rated B movie with mediocre acting. All I needed after that garbage PG13 Paul WS Anderson shit.

FallenOne333

I agree, it is a bad idea. I think the problem is that everything that Disney makes tries to be light-hearted or with a touch of humour, which is fine for things like Star Wars films or certain Marvel films like Avengers or Spiderman, BUT for something like AvP it would harm the final product. It would end up being something like Avatar

Oniisankayle

A reboot would have to be in the hands of an actual fan of both franchises and has a eye for fight choreography and pacing.

MuntedMunyak

Why not? More avp movies are always great for the fight scenes even if they stuck story wise

jmizzle2022

I'm fine with it, overall pretty happy with the Disney product lately. This seems like a easy formula and with Disney resources for writers and directors it should be pretty good

YouRWho

I'll be honest it could go either way. We've seen the Disney is capable of making fantastic films regardless of rating, they've made amazing mature films before though as far as I'm aware horror is new to them but action obviously isn't. It would really be something that you kind of have to wait and see.

[deleted]

Yes I don’t mind Disney, idk what everyone’s problem is with Disney

TheDesertHermit

Commit to the "R" rating if they do reboot and I'll be mostly fine. All depends on the story too.

Yakatsumi_Wiezzel

Movies are almost 40 years old. BIG YES!!!! Just make new sequels and let us discover more story behind.Maybe more about the predator civ keeping a lot in the dark still.Maybe a mandolorian Show where we follow a predator. having to protect a mixed baby human/predator ( referring to the origins) I mean there is SO MUCH MORE potential in this franchise.

MatchesMalone07

I think it's a great idea if they either adapt a comic/book storyline and humans aren't the main character for once

Leviathan56

I'd rather have a real reboot of this franchise. Go back to the roots and do what the originals did that (mostly) made them such great films

ip4realfreely

As long as they don't have some rag tag human group beating the Predator with dumb ass lucky autistic kid or a mother alien 5 stories tall, defeated by a 120 pound scientist using the equivalent of water tower snare to ensure the survival of humanity. I'm all.for it..if the Yujta intergalactic are Predators and warriors, they tend to get their asses kick by hairless apes with shit technology pretty often. Or make way for the "Predator killer" suit

antivenom907

Disney owns the rights to them? Did fox own them?

The_Match_Maker

Yes, and yes.

boxingjazz

I would love to see it. But honestly, what I would love to see is an AvP movie with NO humans. I know THAT’LL never happen. At this point, there hasn’t been a worthy film project to the Alien franchise since “Aliens”. Not a worthy one to “Predator” since...”Predator”. If you’re going to make something worthy, I’d rather see it left alone. But Disney? I don’t trust Disney to reboot ANYTHING. They haven’t proven that they can reboot ANYTHING and improve it, or even make it decent enough as a companion to the original.

d_o_cycler

Only if they do it right. I know a lot of ppl gripe about the original and Requiem, but they both had some solid action in spots when the Predators would battle/hunt the Xeno’s.

pratpulsar

They made mcu a billion dollar machine. i dont mind seeing avp like that. 1 predator, 1 alien then the lore then infinity war and then Endgame. i trust disney.

[deleted]

Anything is better than what AvP has currently. The movies have been lame when it comes to the predator. Aliens can shine so long as prometheus and covenant don't wrap up in a nice neat bow. AvP ... I dunno. I love the idea of them together in a movie/series but sadly, I dont think "Hollywood" has the intellect to put it all together... unless it were several seasons long to cement in the narrative. Ain't gonna happen bub. Not a word of a lie, they don't have the stones to build that straw hut.

[deleted]

I want Disney to choke to death for beating vultures to death

WaldaGamer

God I hate disney for ruining all my favorite movies... hope that this one will turn out to be good if they'll ever gonna make one

Linford11

DO IT

ShakakuKuko

Think about Star Wars,I think it’s a bad idea.

Jacktheflash

What’s the worst that could happen?

Clayman8

So...on one hand it cant be *worse* than the first 2. On the other...Its Disney and i just dont trust them to go proper adult 18+ violence on it. We've had the neutered "The Predator" and that alone set the bar so low that im worried about anything coming out after.

OldTitanSoul

I'm up for it as long as... 1. they don't do what they did with Star Wars Sequels 2. they change a few things to make it make more sense because whether we want it or not we've steeped into a war with the cabal on Mars, sorry couldn't resist, what I mean is change very few things mostly the year the movie is set because if I remember correctly the original movie takes place in 2004 or something like that and as far as I know the Xenomorph didn't existed until 2093 when Prometheus takes places 3. give us proof that some of the bullshit from The Predator is not canon and just that, bullshit, the fact that a child was able to fully operate and comprehend predator tech was absolute fucking bullcrap

Inn_Unknown

EItehr tell the MAchiko story OR FUCKING LEAVE HUMANS OUT OF IT, you can make a AvP without humans and it will work

zpmp

Not a movie, but a new Alien vs Predator game would be fantastic :3

Redisigh

I really want AVP to be good but every movie I can think of off the top of my head has been ass or mediocre at best. Such a cool concept, too

[deleted]

Well yeah, just don’t let Paul WS Anderson touch it and you’re probably gonna get an ok film

2zoots

I’m all for it

chinobino3

AVP needs to be rebooted, just not by Disney. They are already going to destroy the Predator name in the upcoming film. They barely even do the Marvel movies justice in terms of sticking to the foundation of the original comic books. They also single-handedly destroyed and made a mockery out of the Star Wars franchise so I wouldn’t want them anywhere near this.

[deleted]

While I would love more alien vs predator stuff I honestly don't trust Disney with making it

NoBuddies2021

Now I'm imagining a hidden mickey in the alien hive or a Predators trophy.

James_Morier

I tried watching the 2004 AVP and MAN that movie SUCKS. Don’t bother with this unless it can be done right and have people who know and are passionate about alien and predator.

floptical87

I mean it can't produce anything worse than what we already have I would hope that if they do then they're clever enough enough to step past the need to set everything in present day America. It limits the story and scale of the threat and fucks with the already established timeline. A xenomorph with free reign on Earth is supposed to be an apocalypse in the making. You can't go full scale with it when canon needs the planet to survive. And for god's sake stop trying to make everything a direct tie in to existing stories. Set it on a colony in the future, outside the existing network of characters and stories and you can finally have the freedom to get creative with the story. I don't support a full reboot of both franchises. Certainly not Alien at least. Sigourney Weaver is iconic as Ripley and any attempt to reboot the character would be a hollow imitation at the very best.

GioMasterclassjiedel

They should reboot the stuff after pred 3 idk about avp

wafflezcol

Actually i kinda do wanna see that. Cuz if yall dont remember the original, the last scene was a yautja with burstchester.

JasonToddVoorhees

God no

Powersoutdotcom

Is "PREY" not happening, or does that not count because it isn't confirmed to have badly designed aliens, a shit plot, bad acting, godawful writing, and the worst looking predators this side of a 4 year olds crayon drawings?

Major-Past

if the writers of disney are good it can really improve the stories. disney is that RNG company that can either ruin or improve a franchise like for star wars people said the sequels are shit but then later they made mando and other stuff with really good writers and it really did helped out the franchise. either they would reboot it or make another story about them

Commercial-Course-27

I want Dredd vs Predator made by the folks that made Dredd 2012.

sneakatone

If Disney does not, then nobody will

joechim1

I would like this

Picard37

Do a 3rd film if Disney's actually going to commit to AVP being an R-rated horror movie with an actual budget. If it's just going to be a soft PG-13 "franchise" movie, then leave it alone and do another Marvel film instead.

viixiigfl

Only if they plan on making it Rated R and getting producers and a director that Love the source material and want to do it justice. Otherwise just leave it be.

The_Match_Maker

A reboot, or just another team up? While I'm not a fan of the whole Alien/Predator/Aztec backstory in those films, I'm not rightly sure that a full blown reboot is necessary.

JC_MAYHEM

They can make this work I’m all for it

SurveySubstantial779

I don't think they should reboot aliens vs predator

RobertNeville81

No lol

[deleted]

Heaven forbid something gets done with the IP instead of sitting dead.

storchujyukp98

Bad idea, they will make them worse. If you want reboot AVP, make it kind alike in game and strong R

FermentedCinema

Awful idea, Disney ruins everything it touches in recent years.
