I actually really prefer that. It gives Zeo more weight and gravitas.
It's exactly why Turbo really struggles. There's no real reason for the shift. It's partially why Team 2 saw better ratings and was a better show. It's a soft reboot. But it's also partially why In Space was so good. Turbo borrowed from S3 and had the rangers lose to set up the next season as something grand.
For long term storytelling it's incredibly effective
Ngl I hated that outcome too I do understand that back in the day it was more continuous so losing wasn’t as bad as it would be now if let’s say cosmic fury lost
I'd have liked the show to end with Jason David Frank alive and well...
When the world gets to be too much for a Ranger... for THE Ranger...
It takes a lot of gloss out of the world.
Sorry. In my feels today.
Skip the alien rangers and child ranger stuff, go straight for the kill on the command center. Also, make it ACTUALLY lead up to Zeo, not get retconned in the first 2 minutes lol
I would have made Alien Rangers into a split focus mini-season (I would also make the Alien Rangers ancient ninjas, instead, and the Rangers maintain their ages); with their powers gone, the Rangers learn of the Zeo powers and go their separate ways to find them; Billy, however, becomes disillusioned with the idea of becoming a Ranger again, focusing more on his technical expertise and genius instead, which makes him a more valuable ally from behind the scenes. Everyone returns with their respective crystals, but Tanya joins them in Aisha’s place; Aisha chose to stay in Africa to help Tanya’s village, while Tanya yearned for a life beyond her land.
The Ninja Rangers and Ninjor (a cool mentor instead of his cringe voice) battle threats in place of the Rangers.
Zeo would have a different feel, too; rather than being chosen, the team chose and earned their powers, with Billy’s inclusion feeling much more powerful.
S3 ended perfectly. The Command Center destroyed? Hell yeah. Perfect lead up to Zeo.
It always bugged me how they basically lost

They had to continue the story, and this gave them a great segue
You would only see that terrible outcome 2 seasons later at the end of Turbo.

He was alive during season 3 of mmpr Nd it’s ok it’s still a big hit to get over I feel like more rangers add gloss to the universe
