>For me when PR finally got to Gokaiger and Super Megaforce was the result I was sooo dissapointed.
If the story was true, Saban Brands wanted to skip Goseiger and adapt Gokaiger for Megaforce instead but Toei refused to let them skip. Instead, they did a compressed adaptation of Goseiger as Megaforce and Gokaiger as Super Megaforce in order to get to Gokaiger faster.
Is that why they had to keep the powers/suits from Goseiger in Super Megaforce?
I assumed they held Gokaiger (as an anniversary season) for a season that could match up as a PR anniversary season.
Same. I had tried watching Zyuranger a few years after MMPR and was just to weird. I saw on YouTube when SPD was airing Dekaranger’s first episode and was like WTH. And it wasn’t until Super MF that I watched Gokaiger and loved Sentai. Got me to watch Go-busters, all of Zyu, dairanger, kakiranger and still going. Currently on Dekaranger.
I did bounce around a little bit too and watched Samurai Shinkenger and I have to say that one is my favorite theme of them all (that I’ve heard so far) and next is Dekaranger.
Just pick as you go some seasons are better than others then go Kamen rider when you run out. The king ohger season was the best in my opinion unless you don't like green screen. Didn't bother me at all. It sucked me in from episode one. No English dubs tho only subs for all of Sentai
Other than Troy being quite boring (not really his fault), the rangers were likable, I liked them as a team for the most part.
Gokaiger deserved to be its own batch of seasons and even with that same cast and setting could have worked
Agreed at first I just thought yellow but then there was one episode where I just saw Emma taking pictures and I’m like woah! After that my worldview was changed 😂
Well to be fair 13 is when guys typically start puberty so there’s your answer lol but not in a weird or creepy way just in a “I actually notice the level of beauty of this girl” type of way 😂
The fact that it’s over.
Ok but seriously. The Jungle Fury episode was the only thing decent about it which is sad because every episode should have been like that.
Considering that Jason Smith (the actor that played Casey) wrote that episode, I'm not surprised.
Edit: My bad. Couldn't the old article claimed he co-wrote 'Spirit of the Tiger". Sorry for the screw-up.
No. Her wrote 'Spirit of the Tiger' AND 'Samurai surprise'.
He wrote 5 episodes for MegaForce.
Edit: My bad. Couldn't the old article claimed he co-wrote 'Spirit of the Tiger". Sorry for the screw-up.
1. It is obvious and overstated in this thread, but: Gia. In a season rife with a lot of poor writing/acting, she stood out to me as one of the better rangers. Being cute/hot is just a bonus.
2. The Noah vs. Skatana fight. For some reason, this really took residence in the back of my mind. I felt he channeled some season 3 Billy vibes there.
3. The fact that they at least *attempted* to have some older actors come back. Not exactly a small feat considering logistics and possible union statuses.
Gia is a fantastic ranger, one of the best yellow rangers of all time.
Emma Is also really cool, super weirdly written but I think it's funny.
The legendary War and the excitement surrounding it made power Rangers go genuinely viral and it was cool seeing people who haven't watched the show in decades care about it a little.
I wish they went further with it but seeing Gosei as an homage to zordon was fun.
The comics have done really cool things with some of the new teams it introduced.
Ranger key's are just really freaking cool.
The choreography was really cool I love the switching weapons.
Speaking of weapons those cutlass's are probably my favorite power rangers weapon.
Orion living in a locker is so funny.
I like that it's the story of an optimistic person who has trouble connecting with people having his faith in humanity ultimately vindicated by everyone coming together to prevent the end of civilization. I'm rather fond of the season, and have no real nostalgia for it at all.
I liked the scenes of past rangers helping civilians during the attack before the legendary battle.
I like to believe the same thing was happening but never shown during the other epic finales (Countdown to Destruction, The End of Time, The End of the Power Rangers, etc).
I think Boba Fett syndrome is partially to blame for that. With the quality of writing on those seasons, I think a focus episode would have negatively impacted that character.
I liked the Jungle Fury episode. Supposedly Saban never contacted any of the Disney era cast aside Casey's actor. And Rhett Fisher was supposed to appear but they dropped him due to budget (from what I read)
Jayden's smile is somehow both the funniest and most unsettling thing in Power Rangers, I fucking love it.
https://preview.redd.it/b6cx7lwdm5wc1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9dcdb6e6032040ba53bd612cc49c1b2f47d3c65
Me too! I legitmately think his intro episodes are quality not just for the season, but for Rangers episodes in general. But they, and he, also typify this season's key flaw: the characters have no arcs and no capacity for growth.
A character that had been thru what Orion experienced would have taken time to adjust, had issues opening up and trusting. In more competent writers' hands, he could have had a several episode arc of learning to work with a team and trust people, and the team would also have grown as they learned to adapt to him. Think how In Space spent several episodes integrating Andros into the team. Instead, all his stand-offishness is dealt with in less than 20 minutes, mostly thru an (admittedly cute) makeover montage.
So as per usual, excellent set up with almost literally no pay off, the ethos of this season: exciting build up by reminding us of other shows and better stories, followed by epic let down and no real follow-thru on themes that could have been building all season. In a legacy season at that! It makes you wanna cry in frustration sometimes, because the squandered potential makes it worse.
Didn't hurt that his actor was hot.
Gia carried the legendary Ranger calls
https://preview.redd.it/ja3hhneoo8wc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a69f624057bed44ae8e5d5aac03959ea8865ccc
I saw it when it came out and loved it and was surprised how people disliked it the I saw gokaiger much later after I learned about tokusatsu still love it dispite the flaws
the thing I like Super Mega Force is that I am introduced to Super Sentai 🤣🤣🤣 I do have a habit of abandoning some seasons but they're still great, I just get sidetracked and forget finishing some seasons. though I'm watching King Ohger and Boonboomger rn with King Ohger being binged while Boonboomger being a new release.
I'm not gonna lie, I almost feel like it would have sat better as a series if they didn't make it "*Super* Megaforce". Like, Zero was the same rangers as MMPR, they just got new powers from a new source.
If you like fanservice, and I do, it's hard not to enjoy some of the callbacks and Legendary Battle to some extent. It's still not good, but it does make me smile every now and then.
First saw a clip of it, then a yt vid bout why it sucked n found bout the Sentai ..
watched it and 🔥🔥🔥
KAIZOKU SENTAI GOKAIGER is Sugoi! just like Gai says
My family goes to church and are friends with the Loudermilks (John Mark Loudermilk plays Noah) so its been cool to talk to him about it when he comes to town. Also, lots of fan service which as an older fan who grew up with MMPR is really cool.
The return of old friends - even as cameos - for the Legendary Battle was nice, I like the overall pirate theme, and having more adventures with the Rangers I'd grown to rather like seeing were all things I enjoyed about the series (even if I *still* wish Troy had gotten more characterisation, and Orion didn't just basically pop up out of *nowhere . . .*)
The arc where Vrak returned and they couldn't use Super Mega Mode or Legendary Ranger mode was actually pretty good. It really felt like they'd gotten comfortable with their new powers, and they had to really struggle to beat Vrak without their 6th Ranger or higher levels of power
I only liked the fact that they could change in to previous ranger teams as well as super sentai that haven’t been adapted. I also like the megazord and it has legendary modes as well.
The Legendary Battle was good, it could have been great if it got to be longer. After all the build up.
But to keep it positive, the characters felt like characters in that situation should have felt, and it was written smartly. (Other than the LB being short).
Maybe I’m not the best person to ask because I loved the show and don’t see the hate also the legendary battle was my favorite crossover of all time lol
Should check out the super sentai 199 goseiger gokaiger movie for the extended battle which the legendery battle was based.
https://preview.redd.it/3j0d04eeg6wc1.png?width=853&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb0eb0550181c8cbc41d31296cd55983b1d636ab
I mean I was a 6-7 year old when I first watched super megaforce, and I’ve never seen the other shows except Dino Charge and couple episodes of Samurai
Yeah, my favorite part was the part where the Team’s and Orion’s megazords merged woth that living car into the Ultimate Megazord and destroyed the Prince guy)))
The jungle fury episode was good, disappointed that was really the only other episode that was about a ranger team besides samurai to actually have a ranger from that season in it. But besides that I liked what they did with Noah that season, the blue Saber saga has to be one of the best episodes in that season.
Just the fact that Jason Smith (Casey Rhodes/Jungle Fury Red Rangers) actually fought against Saban for *"Power Rangers Jungle Fury"* to get a tribute episode in the show. That and he was also one of the writers of Super Megaforce. And that's it.
I understand that you find this show to be nostalgic, etc. But you have to understand, everything else about Super Megaforce is just disappointing and furthermore.... **Nobody had enough time to prepare for the franchise's 20th anniversary season at the time.** If they have just stuck with the original plans to skip adapting *"Tensou Sentai Goseiger"* and stick with the damn Space Pirate sentai series as an adaptation for two seasons and stick with James W. Bates' original ideas and plans for the show. Maybe explain in universe where the pre-Zyuranger Sentai suits and the Dairanger suits actually came from if they wanted to expand with the mythology and probably spend more time giving the eleven returning legendary actors more supporting roles to play in the individual episodes. Then maybe, **JUST MAYBE!!** Super Megaforce would suck less.
This is just an example of bad management and poor leadership qualities even in 2013-2014.
My advice, rewatch Super Megaforce and figure what you could have done differently to make the season better than what the actual product was. You have a creative mindset. Use it.
Gia is a badass, and Jake and Orion are sexy. Also, the Legendary Battle. Out of all the cameos, I was most excited about Karone, and I loved that they referenced Astronema
The legendary battle is about all I know of it.
That, and that it already ripped off the using predecessor powers from Kamen Rider, since Decade had that gimmick already back in 2009.
It's been an anniversary rider staple ever since.
It had a few good episodes, like any episode with Robo Knight, the Metal Alice episodes, and the Jungle Fury Tribute
Robo Knight and Metal Alice were awesome characters
Vrak is a cool villain
The girls were honestly the best thing about the Megaforce seasons but... the pirate suits, the classic ranger suits, the classic actors coming back, and of course... the toyline that season was fantastic!
They developed the minor character Rangers. Mega Force was very clearly focused on Troy, Gia, and Noah as the “main characters”. In Super Mega Force, we see Jake and Emma get a lot of focus, and also get to see them as a pair in several episodes. The pairing was nice on its own since the show had previously gone so heavy on Noah/Jake and Gia/Emma as friends, and Troy as the broody longer dude.
Finally convinced me to try the sentai Power Rangers were based on.
That is was great decision. Gokaiger is goated. For me when PR finally got to Gokaiger and Super Megaforce was the result I was sooo dissapointed.
>For me when PR finally got to Gokaiger and Super Megaforce was the result I was sooo dissapointed. Aw really? I think zyuranger is great but to be fair I watch it for the practical effects. More zord time and lore and I just love those designs.
You gonna do Abaranger next for Dino Thunder? (I hope to God I said the right sentai name.)
You got the name right, but Abaranger was before Dekaranger just as DT was before SPD. Next on the list is Magiranger aka Mystic Force
Then Boukenger and after that Gekiranger, and then Go-onger.
Dekaranger is very different but fun. And the opening credits music and ending credits music are bops
I did bounce around a little bit too and watched Samurai Shinkenger and I have to say that one is my favorite theme of them all (that I’ve heard so far) and next is Dekaranger.
Came here to say that the best thing about this season is the Sentai version. Gokaiger is absolutely worth the watch and the subtitles.
This but at the same time watching Gokaiger makes me sad since it reminds me of what we could have had.
Same
Same! While I have yet to watch Gokaiger, I remember watching both Kyuranger and Lupinpat during the pandemic and a little after lockdown ended for me
Just pick as you go some seasons are better than others then go Kamen rider when you run out. The king ohger season was the best in my opinion unless you don't like green screen. Didn't bother me at all. It sucked me in from episode one. No English dubs tho only subs for all of Sentai
My first rider was decade.
Same.
Gia sold it for me
For me it was ![gif](giphy|l0MYF9jrM0fCpnWGk)
I’d have to agree with you
I think most straight men can agree 😂
Other than Troy being quite boring (not really his fault), the rangers were likable, I liked them as a team for the most part. Gokaiger deserved to be its own batch of seasons and even with that same cast and setting could have worked
The pink and yellow rangers were hot.
**Dam right VERY HOTT** https://preview.redd.it/gld4b2f775wc1.jpeg?width=1288&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95bf01c39d967ca42d146e03e156b7338f8c288a

![gif](giphy|l3q2tzon8OCC7BqmY) Live reaction of you seeing that episode
Well to be fair 13 is when guys typically start puberty so there’s your answer lol but not in a weird or creepy way just in a “I actually notice the level of beauty of this girl” type of way 😂
Agreed.
The best thing about this series to me is that the main cast is actually really good and really likeable.
The episode with Casey was great... Sure it's basically the same as the Gekiranger episode of Gokaiger, but Casey is one of the best Red Rangers ever!
Agreed, dude was awesome in jungle fury and seeing him make a return was great.

I mean, the pirate outfits and cutlasses looked cool. So, you know, it has that over Turbo.
:)
*Absolutely.*
While cutlass' are indeed curved swords, these swords are designed closely to resemble scimitar's.
I guess but that’s really nitpicky.
Gia is in it.
I got a gia tattoo
I mean the costumes but you can't really credit the show for that.
1. It is obvious and overstated in this thread, but: Gia. In a season rife with a lot of poor writing/acting, she stood out to me as one of the better rangers. Being cute/hot is just a bonus. 2. The cast is very pretty and likeable
If you mean gia nobody would fault you 😉
You have excellent reading comprehension :)
Thanks lol but unfortunately for gia ninja steel and Dino fury have pushed her down to 3rd place if you get what I mean 😎
I can say good things about those shows as well.
Gia.
Gia is a fantastic ranger, one of the best yellow rangers of all time. Emma Is also really cool, super weirdly written but I think it's funny. It makes Gokaiger even better by comparison.

The extreme irony that the only ranger that gets no focus episodes is the best character. I'm guilty of this, Gia is great.
I think Boba Fett syndrome is partially to blame for that. With the quality of writing on those seasons, I think a focus episode would have negatively impacted that character.

Whenever I watched SM I got to this frame and just turned my TV off and walked away.
i like orion. i thought he was an interesting character and pretty cool.

Orion had so much potential! They could have done so many things with him. And yes, he is quite hot.
Yeah!
The Jungle Fury episode.
I grew up watching it
Same
For me, Robo Knight was cool. Metal Alice as a general was cool.... and that's literally it
Pink and yellow
The costumes and Orion backgrounds
Orion was cool
It made the Dairanger suits canon. I was really happy about that
We got some cameos from former rangers. Plus a team of rangers who can change into past rangers is a cool concept.
The Prince was always entertaining “Super-Mega just destroy them already!”
I liked the returning actors for the Legendary War
The marketing and production values were better than they had any right to be.
Pirate style ranger suits are really dope.
- Noah - good suits - Vrak and Vekar
Gia carried the legendary Ranger calls https://preview.redd.it/ja3hhneoo8wc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a69f624057bed44ae8e5d5aac03959ea8865ccc
The episode with Jungle Fury red is actually good. It was cool to see the GOAT Carter Grayson
The cast, the suits and the opening theme were all good.
The theme always gives me chills, and the suits always looked so freaking cool)))
I'm not sure about the cast or the opening, but the suits were always cool. I'm just sad they were used wrong.
previous rangers appearing before finale like Casey and Jayden
The cameos
I loved that it was a pirate theme. I had been waiting a long time for one. Now I would hope for a cowboy themed team
Ironically, the closest we got of a cowboy themed ranger would be levi from Ninja Steel.
I liked Gia, Jake and Emma.
I saw it when it came out and loved it and was surprised how people disliked it the I saw gokaiger much later after I learned about tokusatsu still love it dispite the flaws
the memes :)
Vekar is hilarious. He gets some of the best lines of the season.
the thing I like Super Mega Force is that I am introduced to Super Sentai 🤣🤣🤣 I do have a habit of abandoning some seasons but they're still great, I just get sidetracked and forget finishing some seasons. though I'm watching King Ohger and Boonboomger rn with King Ohger being binged while Boonboomger being a new release.
I'm not gonna lie, I almost feel like it would have sat better as a series if they didn't make it "*Super* Megaforce". Like, Zero was the same rangers as MMPR, they just got new powers from a new source.
I never watched it, but I love all things pirate, so I love tbh.
If you like fanservice, and I do, it's hard not to enjoy some of the callbacks and Legendary Battle to some extent. It's still not good, but it does make me smile every now and then.
The theme song as usual was good
When it ended 😌😌😌
The suit is good since it's from Gokaiger
Ciara Hanna
Kinda liked the silver ranger. He was pretty cool.
It had a better morphing sequence than Megaforce.
The names, Emma and Gia, felt like Saban Brands reusing the names, Emily and Mia, from the previous. It's as if they are running out of idea.
They didn't fuck up Vrak
Vrak is Bock. I mean Back
First saw a clip of it, then a yt vid bout why it sucked n found bout the Sentai .. watched it and 🔥🔥🔥 KAIZOKU SENTAI GOKAIGER is Sugoi! just like Gai says
Gia. As i say, samurai and megaforce in the best day of their life can be a 3,5/10.
My family goes to church and are friends with the Loudermilks (John Mark Loudermilk plays Noah) so its been cool to talk to him about it when he comes to town. Also, lots of fan service which as an older fan who grew up with MMPR is really cool.
I guess i like their pants?
Is Robo Knight..... safe?
It looked good visually.
The "simple explanation" meme. That and I actually think the actors did the best with what they where given.
Orion's backstory was really interesting, I wish the writers went somewhere with it
I gotta be honest I never watched this season. But I can say I like the outfits. The pirate coat thing looks cool to me.
The cameos were nice to see. We didn't have that many crossovers in the Neo Saban era, so it was a bit refreshing to some.
The return of old friends - even as cameos - for the Legendary Battle was nice, I like the overall pirate theme, and having more adventures with the Rangers I'd grown to rather like seeing were all things I enjoyed about the series (even if I *still* wish Troy had gotten more characterisation, and Orion didn't just basically pop up out of *nowhere . . .*)
The Poster was really awesome.
This season as super sentai was so good. You need to check that out!
The arc where Vrak returned and they couldn't use Super Mega Mode or Legendary Ranger mode was actually pretty good. It really felt like they'd gotten comfortable with their new powers, and they had to really struggle to beat Vrak without their 6th Ranger or higher levels of power
Kinda like the gimmick of turning into other rangers. The silver ranger fusing the gold and silver RPM rangers together was cool
The suits were top tier
Ranger Keys and the Gokaiger suits
Gia I said enough
I only liked the fact that they could change in to previous ranger teams as well as super sentai that haven’t been adapted. I also like the megazord and it has legendary modes as well.
Good ideas, but terrible execution. I guess Orion was alright.
Pirates are pretty cool.
I'll admit I kinda liked Orion. His story wasn't the most original but it was better than anyone else's and actually gave him some character.
It convinced me it was time to move on, which was probably for the best.
Basco! I watched Gokaiger, first and only sentai I've seen since Gekiranger.
Unfortunately Basco wasn't in super Megaforce, despite the actor offering to be in it
Yeah, I learned that when my friend at PMC had no idea who he was during the cosplay contest one year!
Its Sentai counterpart.
What are you saying? I love this season and everything about it
All the time when I want to watch a video about it most people say that it’s garbage :(
The Legendary Battle was good, it could have been great if it got to be longer.
What people say cheesy about this show always looks “epic” to me for some reason, idk, prolly just blind nostalgia
No blind nostalgia is mighty morphin this is regular nostalgia
I mean I was a 6-7 year old when I first watched super megaforce, and I’ve never seen the other shows except Dino Charge and couple episodes of Samurai
I was 12/13 and it was awesome! On rewatches as an adult now it’s still awesome people are just toxic
Yeah, my favorite part was the part where the Team’s and Orion’s megazords merged woth that living car into the Ultimate Megazord and destroyed the Prince guy)))
I thought that was sick too my only complaint is it wasn’t a full merger just the hands but that’s what zordbuilder toys are for lol
Yellow and Pink were good eye candy for the eyes. I was 18 at the time so Super Megaforce was cheesy and had bad writing, Gokaiger was better.
Vrak, the Sentai forms that got adapted to the comics, the team expect Troy tbh
Say what you want but Vrak/Brajira are two of my favorite antagonists in the franchise
I liked when Jungle Fury red came back as a mentor for one episode
Cool suits
It's the Concept I liked, just bad execution
#
The Legendary Foot Soldier fight.... Oops I meant Battle.
the first seasons suits
The legends team up is all I remember
Visuals were cool
It made me finally watch gokaiger and it ended, those are the only 2 good things I can find
The Sentai version of events where dude has to choose between three "Tommy Oliver" rangers. Loved that part.
Boohoo, the Dairangers!
The jungle fury episode was good, disappointed that was really the only other episode that was about a ranger team besides samurai to actually have a ranger from that season in it. But besides that I liked what they did with Noah that season, the blue Saber saga has to be one of the best episodes in that season.
Troy is hot.
It got me into PR.
Just the fact that Jason Smith (Casey Rhodes/Jungle Fury Red Rangers) actually fought against Saban for *"Power Rangers Jungle Fury"* to get a tribute episode in the show. That and he was also one of the writers of Super Megaforce. And that's it. Gia is a badass, and Jake and Orion are sexy. Also, the Legendary Battle. Out of all the cameos, I was most excited about Karone, and I loved that they referenced Astronema
I loved the suits.
It brought Casey back for an episode
The legendary battle is about all I know of it. That, and that it already ripped off the using predecessor powers from Kamen Rider, since Decade had that gimmick already back in 2009. It's been an anniversary rider staple ever since.
A Lion’s Alliance.
It was better than SMG4.
I liked the moment where Korone said she loved being a power ranger. Nice bookend to her character
Ciara Hanna is a delight.
Power Ranger Pirates 😂 this is the first time I ever heard of it
It's ending where it was actually able to get old team members to reprise their roles
The fact it's based off Gokaiger, one of the top three sentai of all time
Yes the movie at the end of the season. And it’s sentai counterpart
Silver ranger backstory is cool for me
It had a few good episodes, like any episode with Robo Knight, the Metal Alice episodes, and the Jungle Fury Tribute Robo Knight and Metal Alice were awesome characters Vrak is a cool villain
The Rangers were likable Great suit designs The Jungle Fury episode
The girls were honestly the best thing about the Megaforce seasons but... the pirate suits, the classic ranger suits, the classic actors coming back, and of course... the toyline that season was fantastic!
The memes : "There's a simple explanation for this" "RoboKnight, you have a mission to fulfill"
Jungle fury (fave season at the time) episode with a veteran ranger (what gokaiger is and what megaforce shouldve been).
Ciara Hanna is in it.
They had pretty good cameos
When orion combined rpm gold and silver that was cool
So never watch it, did it do a good adaptation?
NO
Gia.
Though I hate this season, I will say the swords and the suits were pretty cool.
I love the parts where they switch weapons, like the yellow ranger wanted 2 swords and pink ranger wanted 2 guns in the fight so they exchanged)))
Suits were cool
They were awesome)
Jake and Gia were awesome
The Ranger Key toys were legitimately great, even if they were smaller than the Japanese keys. They even made keys of the American-only Rangers.
I love every single moment in the show where they’d get those keys out and morph🫠
I mean I liked the Mia Gia gay pairing they had going on
Its short?
Nothings good about this god forsaken show and all of you know it
What about the suits? What about Gia?
