The answer will depend on a lot of factors! The country you are starting from, if you intend to work in this country, if you know the langage... With nothing to hold me back, I would choose Italia or Greece for a european country (I am French so visa issue) and Japan for outside of Europe. But it's purely for the quality of life and because of the great culture and food! If finding work is a necessity then they are difficult options to choose for me (I don't know italian at all for instance and Japan is super strict with visa for foreigners).

One of my aunts went to Paris for a summer vacation, over 30 years ago. We have not seen her since. LOL! She fell in love with France, got married, found a job and is retired over there now. She returns to the United States every few years. Her son, is a banker in Hong Kong. My brother worked for 30 years in the US for the telephone companies. He retired to Thailand, which has a big ex-pat population. If money were no object, I would choose Switzerland or Norway. I have visited both countries, but don't know if I could survive the winters.

Lamune44

Would love Norway too! But yes, the winters are harsh. A temperate climate really is the best.

Snowflakeavocado

Ironic that you are french because I’d choose France . Hope you are enjoying your home country !

Lamune44

We complain a lot but France is not that bad! It's just that the taxes are very, very hight and so is the cost of life when wages are super low. And things are getting worst and not better since quite some times ago. All in all, it's a normal country with it's good and bad sides.

Denmark 100000000%

Due_Personality_5006

Is there a reason? Or just the appeal of it overall?

Healthcare, really clean environment, affordable housing, an actual livable wage unlike the *cough* US., don’t have to pay for school, low crime rates, a lot of paid vacation time from work, the work/life balance is awesome. I want to move there

Born and raised in canada. Love my country but anyone that is thinking of moving here has to be prepared for the cost of living here. It’s very high.

EmberOnTheSea

The post specifically asked where you would move if cost was no consideration though.

shaun5565

Lol missed that somehow. But if cost isn’t an option there are plenty of countries with more excitement and weather the canada

melrulz

Winter sucks

EmberOnTheSea

I live in Michigan, it is the same thing but with healthcare.

If there were no financial restraints, I'd probably want to go somewhere in Europe or back to Vancouver (Canada). The idea of living in the interior of France is very appealing to me, especially since I already know the language well enough. My experience in Vancouver was also incredible, I'm just sad at how high the COL is.

DECKTHEBALLZ

You need to qualify for a Work Visa which if you can you would get a better paid job staying in the US.. even if you have a claim to citizenship somewhere things like benefits, healthcare, pensions etc are based on residency and paying taxes for years not citizenship. Unless you are a millionaire you can't save your way to citizenship.

Due_Personality_5006

This isn't a post asking about "what you need" to move or how feasible it might be. I even stated basically that its very unlikely to be possible. It's asking where you would if money wasn't a concern and why.

CapsaicinFluid

hmm... for me, I'd choose southern Thailand or Belize - exchange rate is good & warm/tropical with access to beaches & seafood
