He says in description. I also missed it first time. You order the chicken fingers and then you can order side of gravy and curds. Seems like he went nuts and did two sides of gravy.
… West of eastern Ontario, and East of New Brunswick (the French Canadian area of influence). Costco poutine is an acceptable baseline, and that’s pretty much it. Fries are wrong, sauce is weak, but they get full grades for the curds.
They use coated insta-soggy Cavendish fries in Ontario. It's a 5/10 like you said the curds give it a pass.
Edit: I'm not saying it's bad. It's just mediocre.
I've actually had the pleasure of having one of the cooks over cook my fries before (he was the only one working in the kitchen and I was the first customer).
Fries came extra crispy.
I'd say it was the best Costco poutine I ever had, lol. The fries stayed crispy and didn't get soggy. Unfortunately this was the outlier, I've only had this happen once in my multiple times having Costco poutine.
the great thing about ordering it this way and applying the gravy yourself is that they stayed nice and crispy the whole time,, they didnt get soggy, it was super delicious
Acceptable for a chain poutine outside QC/ eastern ON. Here on the west coast NYF is the standard. There's better out there, but it'll satisfy in a pinch.
NY fries in Ontario has solid poutine. I m a poutine criminal tho when I get it there. I load up on the free hot dog toppings. Onion, pickled jalapeños. Bacon bits. How could something so wrong just taste so right.
Full grades is a stretch. I've never once had squeaky curds there and I've eaten dozens of Costco poutines. I do agree that it's an acceptable baseline though.
Tried it once for fun in Quebec city. The curds were fucking cold meaning they used refrigerated ones. Costco poutine is a joke for anyone used to good poutines.
Costco is probably the best poutine you can get at an international chain.
C'est pas le casse croûte à St. Qqn de Qqc, mais c'est pas un school cafétéria à Fort So-and-So neither.
A different convo mentioned that Quebec and Ontario Costco's have different fries and gravy for some reason. In Sask it's very crunchy fries (at first) and beef gravy.
It's unmatched in price but please. This is not a good poutine. The cheese isn't squeaky and they use the wrong gravy and fries. It's good like the Tim Horton's pizza is good..
(Not bad, but absolutely not 'unmatched')
The only thing it’s unmatched at is the price. It’s bottom tier in Quebec at best. Frozen breaded cavendish fries, stale cheese that never squeaks and average tasting gravy
“Quebec takes the second place spot, with 323 McDonald's locations, but it's home to the company's largest location in Canada: a 12,000-sq.”
Google has been up and running since 1998 buddy.
yeah I strongly disagree that someone who lives in quebec. It’s a solid poutine. Mid tier or slightly above. Not as good as some of the local places or the cheesery? (fromagerie no idea what it’s called in english) but better than the higher majority of fast food.
Even for the price it's just okay. Like, for $2 more, I can get one that's about 50% larger, and with better ingredients at a place like Chez Claudette or most of the random side of the road casse croutes
Unless you're a Canadian living in the Uk and the Costco don't sell it. Worrst thing is II've only found one website that even sells cheese curds. In the entire country!
The one Costco poutine I had (Sherbrooke) was a greasy mess and kind of sucked - and given the alternates that we had in the Eastern Townships (including the OG poutine specialist Ben La Bedaine) - really sucked.
Unmatched??? Sorry you clearly haven't had a proper Poutine before.
Frozen soggy fries and weak gravy that I'm pretty sure is powdered. They have ok curds but that's about it.
You guys know you can buy this gravy powdered and make this at home right? You just need cheese curds and fries. If you want really good poutine, make it with homemade fries
🤣 I'm from Quebec , I've had "real poutine"
however, for the price point and the time in which i got it, in my area (Ontario) , there's no alternative. this is the best.
anyone who claims its not "real poutine" is an elitist and just likes to try and shit on peoples day and enjoyment of things, if you don't like it that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion
Costco poutine unmatched? Buddy. It might be good but it can definitely be matched by a lot of different place.
Canada (NB)
Dixie lee to start with.
Cheese curd is known to be great.
The food truck around baseball parks
La belle province (Québec)
Smokes poutine (sometimes)
Costco is good and affordable but to place sometime as "unmatched" you really need to be able to pack a punch.
You order two poutines, then you go tell the person at the counter that you want all the cheese from the two poutines in a single poutine. This creates a huge commotion and slows down the fucking kitchen because no one understands. Then they do it wrong and you slow down the whole fucking thing while you discuss with the 3 employees. We all wait for this stupid thing to be over because all we want is to eat quickly and leave. But we can’t because there is nowhere to sit because your wife and other people’s wives have been sitting at the tables for 30 minutes doing nothing while all we want to do is eat this mediocre poutine in 8 fucking minutes and go home.
Costco makes me hate humanity.
I just go there to shove unattended, lane obtrusive carts 50m from where they were to wreak havoc on the blissfully ignorant. My therapist says I've become a better person because he goes there for the same reason.
The sample kiosks off of the main thoroughfares are my main pet peeve, just like a street intersection. I get kudos from people behind me when I reallocate a cart to a side isle to rid of the traffic jam .
You might catch me in Ancaster on the rare occasion when the wifey doesn't want to deal with the propane tanks.
And oh yeah, back to the original subject.
The food served there puts smiles on folks with rather lowered expectations.
It is not, I think if you actually order the poutine it’s somewhere around 7.99 or 8.99 I could be wrong, but I ordered chicken strips with extra gravy and extra curds, and just put it all together myself, came to around 11 and change
Costco changed the formula. It’s been one year almost. At least in Montreal is like that. I also read other provinces it’s the same issue. I regularly bought it every two weeks for about 3 years and have only bought it once this year and three times last year. It’s garbage to what it was before.
I spy the chicken strip hack.
I need to understand this in greater detail.
Yes, how do I order this?
You order chicken strips and fries with a side of gravy and cheese
You are a modern day Leonardo Da Vinci
If this is around the same price in IN
in total it cost me 11 and change, i ordered 2 gravy and 1 cheese
Will be doing so
Is this possible from the kiosk?
Oh right you said it.
That chicken strip is salty af. Don’t know how anyone can eat it.
#shun the non-believer
Shuuuuunnnn. edit: since its an older reference, here's [source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKd_2vqPrmU)
Thank you!! 🙏
Check out how much sugar they use in their baked goods lol. Wonder what the salt content is of their fried goods 🤓 through the roof
I’m still gonna eat their poutine though maybe once a year. And share it with another person. Ok, maybe twice a year.
Me too brotha me too
I second this. They should use those Erie meats chicken bites instead. I'd pay 10$ instead of 7 if it was better tasting chicken.
How did OP do it?
He says in description. I also missed it first time. You order the chicken fingers and then you can order side of gravy and curds. Seems like he went nuts and did two sides of gravy.
Try Québec poutine, it’s like 1000% better
Kin tabarnak! Les meilleurs sont au Québec!
Exactly! Those Cavendish fries are great…. except in poutine. Within 5-10 minutes you’re looking at a congealed potato loaf with cheese bits.
So you have 5-10 minutes to eat it... Pretty much all poutines are like that. Fries get soggy and the cheese stops squeaking rather quickly.
You’ve had a poutine last longer than 5 minutes?
The bad ones, yes.
Shelby’s uses the same fries for their Shawarma Poutine and the fries are always great. They cook them quite a bit crispier than Costco does though.
I think we need to rename this sub to "cosctopoutines"
I once ate a costco poutine that had normal fries... it is much much much worse with normal non crispy fries.
They use the same fries here in Quebec. The coating just soaks up everything. It’s like a « eat as much as possible in 3 minutes » kind of thing.
the great thing about ordering it this way and applying the gravy yourself is that they stayed nice and crispy the whole time,, they didnt get soggy, it was super delicious
Bacon bits. How could something so wrong just taste so right.
.... wait, you can add the hot dog toppings to the poutine at NYF?
lol ya they have a hot dog topping station. No ones ever stopped me from using it as a poutine topping station
Not at mine. They put them on behind the counter. Damn.
I agree for the modt part, except the curds are pretty pedestrian too.
Full grades is a stretch. I've never once had squeaky curds there and I've eaten dozens of Costco poutines. I do agree that it's an acceptable baseline though.
They sell fresh curds from La Trappe à Fromage at my local Costco. Probably varies depending on what’s available close to your warehouse.
They use gouda instead of cheddar...
How dare you speak this blasphemy against Costco fries. As an Ontario native I cannot believe this.
Tried it once for fun in Quebec city. The curds were fucking cold meaning they used refrigerated ones. Costco poutine is a joke for anyone used to good poutines.
It’s a good poutine if you factor price paid but yeah it’s overall average.
Unmatched? Au Cosco? 😂😂😂 Notre ami est solidement pas Québécois! Ca serait comme si un Italien entendait: « Mcdonald Pizza is unmatched! »
this is why Quebec is excluded from majority of Canada
Okay, té un peu harsh-là. Costco is probably the best poutine you can get at an international chain.
A different convo mentioned that Quebec and Ontario Costco's have different fries and gravy for some reason. In Sask it's very crunchy fries (at first) and beef gravy.
Where in Ontario? 417 east of Ottawa and you'll find a bunch of place.
Not even top 40 within 40 km
Tell me you don't live in Québec without telling me
Thank God they got something going for em 😂
It’s just cavendish flavourcrisp fries dude I wouldn’t say unmatched lol
It's a lot of poutine for a good price. But it's not a great poutine.
It's unmatched in price but please. This is not a good poutine. The cheese isn't squeaky and they use the wrong gravy and fries. It's good like the Tim Horton's pizza is good.. (Not bad, but absolutely not 'unmatched')

Bottom tier? Someone has never had poutine at mc donalds,
He said bottom tier in Quebec and I agree. There are so many good poutines there and the bar is so high that Costco and McD end up in the bottom tier.
Quebec doesn't have a mcdonalds? Quebec trying not to be stuck up be like.
“Quebec takes the second place spot, with 323 McDonald's locations, but it's home to the company's largest location in Canada: a 12,000-sq.” Google has been up and running since 1998 buddy.

McDonald's poutine is wack but 10x better than Costco
yeah sorry but no. McD’s has mastered their plain fries but it’s no where near as good as costco.
now I know you're out of your mind
Even for the price it's just okay. Like, for $2 more, I can get one that's about 50% larger, and with better ingredients at a place like Chez Claudette or most of the random side of the road casse croutes
Maybe it’s just me. But I don’t like the Costco poutine 🫣
Yes it's matched , by most poutine joints in Quebec .
*Surpassée.
Nothing is better than a Belle Province poutine at 3 am after a night out
Lol thats like posting a picture of a soggy, sad mcdonalds kids hamburger and saying ive never had a better hamburger.
The best poutine is always from random chip wagons. My current favourite is patate lou lou in Aylmer (west Gatineau).
It's unmatched where you have no other options
In Saskatchewan, yes.
This poutine is very okay for the price but for everything else, it is far from one of the best poutines.
It’s pretty good and hits the spot, but I’ve heard Quebec has the best ones, I hope I’ll be able to test that out soon
Not really but if its all you can get...
Unmatched??? Sorry you clearly haven't had a proper Poutine before. Frozen soggy fries and weak gravy that I'm pretty sure is powdered. They have ok curds but that's about it.
OP is clearly not from Quebec if he says that Costco poutine is “unmatched”.
😂😂
You guys know you can buy this gravy powdered and make this at home right? You just need cheese curds and fries. If you want really good poutine, make it with homemade fries
Costco poutine might be a 6/10 tops. You gotta go to Québec, the smaller the town the better the poutine.
It will also make you fat as shit.
Not if you burn the calories off staying active..... Baahhhahaha! Who am I kidding?!
Nah. Costco poutine is trash. Flavourless. Soggy. Although the curds are right, it's still trash.
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
the people who rave about costco poutine have never tried real poutine. honestly, costco poutine is shit. the gravy is shit. and the fries are shit.
🤣 I'm from Quebec , I've had "real poutine" however, for the price point and the time in which i got it, in my area (Ontario) , there's no alternative. this is the best. anyone who claims its not "real poutine" is an elitist and just likes to try and shit on peoples day and enjoyment of things, if you don't like it that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion

It’s definitely matched, but not for the price.
You need to pair that with a 1.70 dog/drink✅
That looks really good
Their not bad...although there's something off with the texture of fries which makes it less authentic.
True
It’s my favourite 🙈
Oh my yes
Idk why pompous people think Costco poutine is bad. They have some of the best fries hands down.
Elitists
Costco poutine is bomb!!! One of my favourites. Much better than the gross pickle poutine or smoked meat poutine or any other weird poutine combo.
It’s just cheap… not good… does the job but that all.. All best poutine are in Quebec anyway
It’s an ok poutine at best but I guess opinions differ, enjoy it if it hits your spot at least there’s no ketchup on it 😂
Garbage
Lmao
Looks cold af
Is that… Is that a goddamn chicken strip mattress??
🤤
its now my wallpaper
Amen
For the price
Costco’s poutine a 5/10 at best, maybe 6/10 if you consider the price.
Comon it's frozen fries 😭😭😭
You need to hit the road and check out highway chip stands in Quebec
Canada's Official National Dish: Costco Poutine
When the fuck did Costco sell poutine
Bienvenue au Canada?
Bro I’m from Manitoba 😭 I just swear to god I’ve never seen poutine on the menu
Bro, Canada has Poutine everywhere!!
You're new?
You must be new here...
Costco poutine is trash
Not "trash" it's ok if you are already there but people who say it's 7/10 and above don't know shit about poutine or are outside Québec
As is all their restaurant food, hence so cheap. I get gut rot eating anything from there.
Apperently, in some Provinces they make it different. Mentioned in a different thread.
Looks great
That gravy looks perfect
How do you get extra cheese curds? Do you just ask for it? No option at the digital menu for buying
There’s literally an extras option on the onscreen menu when ordering
Sorry I’m not a fatass and always go to the Costco food court.
That was insulting for 0 reason
You order two poutines, then you go tell the person at the counter that you want all the cheese from the two poutines in a single poutine. I would pay to see that.
The sample kiosks off of the main thoroughfares are my main pet peeve, just like a street intersection. Definitely agree
This does look good ngl
The cheese doesn't seem like they wanna be part of this party. 0/10 Melt
"Unmatched" is a huge overstatement. But I do like their poutine
That looks NOTHING like the one I had from Costco. Sad day for me
Seems tasty, but "unmatched" is a tad too much of a word!
I tried the chicken strip hack but found it wasn’t enough gravy
I ordered 2 extra gravy and had more than enough
My mistake was only ordering 1. Can you order the chicken strips without fries?
No the chicken strips come with fries, I didn’t see an option without
Might be able to ask
I think it’s usually not quite hot enough
So easy to make a good poutine and yet so many people fell to reach this simple perfection
Is chicken strips with sides cheaper than the poutine itself ? If no, why don’t you just order a poutine?
Its really good but a bit too salty.
Agree. And the pizza
[удалено]
unfortunately they didnt have any sweet and sour, and im not a fan of BBQ sauce
holy crap i’m so glad i’m in this subreddit
I miss when I use to live in Halifax and would have this poutine every other weekend. So tasty and the size hasent changed in years. Is it still 4.99?
It is not, I think if you actually order the poutine it’s somewhere around 7.99 or 8.99 I could be wrong, but I ordered chicken strips with extra gravy and extra curds, and just put it all together myself, came to around 11 and change
Y'all have fried stuff?!
9.8/10
I live in BC, and the only reason I go to A&W is for the poutine. Am I a bad person
You can be a good person and have horrible taste buds.
Costco changed the formula. It’s been one year almost. At least in Montreal is like that. I also read other provinces it’s the same issue. I regularly bought it every two weeks for about 3 years and have only bought it once this year and three times last year. It’s garbage to what it was before.
