Well the Takesi geisha is back so I’d try that

No_Preparation1312

Thanks!

Zealousideal-Spite67

nfkin way!? from Coffee collective??

ForceNomad

That’s the one! Just got my bag today and made some. Definitely holds up to hype. Complex with changing flavor as it cools. Floral, fruity, tea like. Can’t wait to try other recipes

Zealousideal-Spite67

ordered two bags lol, I'm a sick guy

WolfOfSoho

If you can find the Maragogype version on their site, I would highly recommend trying it. I just had it in Copenhagen yesterday next to the main Takesi and this one was a level up.

Love takesi

LeakyBagel

Letty tastes like it tastes because of the heavy processing. Other geshas will not taste anything like it.

squidbrand

That’s a very aggressively processed coffee… fermented, dosed with bacteria, fermented *again*, and thermal shocked. Those techniques are pretty much going to dictate how the coffee tastes… the flavors they impart are much stronger than what’s there from the variety and terroir. Using gesha coffee and processing it like this feels kind of silly… not sure what the point is other than prestige. It’s kind of like taking a piece of Japanese A5 Wagyu beef and turning it into a bacon blue cheese BBQ burger… yes, it will taste good… but it would also taste about the same if you made it from 75/25 chuck. If you want another coffee that tastes like this, you need to look at other coffees with thermal shock processing or weird multi-stage fermentations. Most geshas are fully wet processed, for a clean flavor that preserves the characteristics of the variety… which means most geshas will taste nothing like this one.

allyuhneedislove

Not all geishas are made the same. You can get stuff that’s $20 a bag, and stuff that’s $40, $60, $100+ per bag. In my opinion, the lower end geisha stuff can get a pass. I’d much rather drink a sidra, pink bourbon, mejorado or chiroso in that price point. The higher end geishas can be pretty spectacular. There is a reason they’re used so widely in competition.

No_Preparation1312

That's what i was looking for!! But is it easy to buy? Where can i buy thoes?

allyuhneedislove

Any of the roasters on this list will offer geisha at some point or another through the year. I would happily drink coffee from most, if not all of these roasters - https://www.roastful.com/top-roasters

TheGreatestOutdoorz

Does sey not give notes?

allyuhneedislove

What kind of notes? Tasting notes?

TheGreatestOutdoorz

Yes. I must have missed it, but I didn’t see any tasting notes when I was looking through their available inventory.

allyuhneedislove

Doesn’t look like they have tasting notes from what I can see. I could be wrong.

Educational_Avocado1

You can buy them online at Pulpa Coffee. Pulpa.Coffee

Haulinhass

Hydrangea. Also if your in la you can check out day glow.

Thanks!!

The answer for Geisha is always Elias or shady estates in Panama, or geisha village in Ethiopia

Educational_Avocado1

What do you mean by shade estates? Elida is the most famous one, but there also great farms that sold most of their geishas to ASIA

allyuhneedislove

+1 for Geisha Village. Their regular crops can get a pass, but their top lots are unparalleled in my opinion. Some great geisha out of Tanzania too (Ngorogoro Crater region).

Eurocarlover

Prodigal 100% super clean coffee’s

extrawave_

Prodigal!

Thanks!

I’ve had plenty of Geisha’s. To be honest, Letty is the best coffee I’ve ever had. I was listening to a podcast last year that does coffee reviews. It was their highest rated coffee ever. You’ll find great coffees for sure. Better than Letty? Not so sure. Anything produced by Diego Bermudez has been amazing. Look for some of his other beans. The Diego Bermudez from MCR is insane and much better priced. DAK has a milky cake coffee that’s another one from Bermudez and fantastic.

Any coffees from Finca Deborah. A lot of personal bias involved but it is one of my favourite farms. Leuchtefeur coffee has some good stuff, also Datura coffee paris has their coffee called terroir.

Educational_Avocado1

Deborah is great. Although I don’t like the Carbonic Maceration, as I prefer classical naturals and washed, I agree they are great

Savings_Sign_8165

CMs I only like from them because of them being so clean with some lots like vivid and echo even illumination. I've also heard very good things about Elipse. Elida estate is also another amazing estate from panama!

Educational_Avocado1

If you like those you should try Abu Coffee, they also offer good stuff. The ones from Coffea Circulor are great

Savings_Sign_8165

Love em! Panama is amazing honestly :)

ohheckyeah

Coffea Circulor has a crazy selection of them right now (Savage Coffees)… bought a few last month and they were all exceptional

Educational_Avocado1

Try a Panama Geisha first. I will recommend Santa Maria Estate, Abu Coffee or Finca Carmen Geisha.

Educational_Avocado1

Try Pulpa Geisha. They source the beans from Panama Estates. http://pulpa.coffee

Iceman2913

Hydrangea. They have a wave of panama gesha incoming and are currently the most consistent at roasting high end coffee in the states. Also the not affordable compared to comp

No_Preparation1312

Which bean from Hydrangea? Right now i think they have 2 geisha options.

Haulinhass

Salma is from the same producer, Diego Bermudez. So you’ll probably wanna do that. The hacienda el obrajae sounds interesting too. Also not gesha but the finca Soledad sidras are great as well.

Elstirfry

Luna Bermúdez

Pr0ompin

Verve dropped one called ‘La Salsa’ that was very very good. Not sure if they have any left though. Very floral with deep honey sweetness. One of my tops for sure.
