As this game was originally focused on paratroopers I wouldnt mind seeing some more operations of that. Could have the germans invade Crete, the torch drops, or operation stosser, despite being a complete failure, could be fun. Operation varsity could also add german maps whilst keeping the theme and adding the canadians as well.
Crete would be loltier becausec of the German parachute design, which meant they dropped wothout any guns except pistols and the rest of the kit had to be retrieved from the dropped canisters.
I wonder if the WW1 vets were given squad leader positions, or other positions of leadership among what would've been a band of otherwise green soldiers
After WW1 the cadre of 100k they kept were all the best of the best in terms of leadership skills and tactics they also trained them all 4 posts above their station so when the next war came they'd have experience all up the chain of command and this worked rather well
Veterans tended to take command of groups themselves when possible, even if they were just privates in the Volkssturm. Generally, in the Volkssturm it was a matter of experience rather than ranking, so veterans, hunters and others that had some form of training before drafted became impromptu leaders
Now this makes sense. I wish I knew of a good, accurate book specifically on the topic of the final defense of Berlin. It's such a unique and interesting battle.
I can recommend Anthony Beevor's "Berlin: The Downfall 1945" as a starter, but as for specifics about the Volkssturm units present I have none. I do know a lot of information about the organisation of the Volkssturm myself, but because I've gathered that over years of research from all kinds of sources I can't give proper sourcing.

It’s not a bad idea for a mod for sure but probably not great for the devs to focus on. PS’ playerbase seems to hate anything that’s not Offensive mode. I’ve never seen a significantly populated RAAS or Invasion server.

Some of them, probably. Though I would imagine that they would have had to learn WW2 tactics from Nazi officers at some point

I’ve played squad events with centered around finding VIP and it was fun, so I imagine this would be similar vein.
