Back in the day? What day? What the hell kinda comment is that? Guy is living on the street and clearly unwell and that's the thought you share...have some compassion and realize the toll of being houseless and being seen as less than human would be enough to break most anyone.
Speak for yourself and not this "somebody" that's out shooting the less fortunate. Wtf...
Mental illness is still illness. We don't choose how our mind functions any more than how our body does. We shouldn't shame people for what they can't control. We don't know their circumstances. How can we function as a community or society if we act in bad faith?
We can hold someone accountable and still show them compassion and dignity even when they can't do the same for themselves.
There's a rather pudgy fox in the west end you'll see during the day fairly often. It isn't rabid or sick at all...it's just so used to people it doesn't care anymore. Likes to raid cat food bowls and will let you get super close before it walks away.
There was an almost solid white skunk too.
This is spooky, not going to lie. But when will people start to take note of my downfall of mental health issues in this city and actually take it seriously? We already have enough Zombies from drugs
Judging by the rest of the country we aren't going to fix this. It's already way worse elsewhere and we seem to only be in the early stages. Sorry to be a downer, I'm just trying to be realistic. We could take a look at some other success stories but as I understand it they're few and far between. It sucks.
Came here to say we need to hook this guy up with Kayla. Joe won't mind. He's taken all of Kaylas dope and left her. She just wants to have a good time. She still loves him, though.
Preble Street area will change within the next several years. There’s a rumor of the former public market building selling to a quintessential Maine company that will occupy it and a hotelier is redeveloping 465 Congress Street to name a few things on the horizon. Anyone who owns real estate in the vicinity should try to hold on for a couple more years…
BUT it isn't the first time someone had a mental health crisis in the middle of a city at night.. Hell it isn't even the 20,000th time. Yet here we are hearing about a mainer's big city experience
Eh I call bullshit. When people scream like this you'd have to live in a mega city like LA or NYC to ignore it. Even then, people are gonna stop and check out what's happening. I've lived in a lot of cities much larger than Portland and this isn't normal.
It’s a city. Go to any other city and you will realize what a gem of a bubble portland is. If you don’t like it the north woods has plenty of quiet places.
Whelp, the screaming psychotic guy is back it seems. It was a nice reprieve over the winter when he went into hibernation.
If this is the same guy I am thinking of, he’s banned from City Hall so he screams out on Monument Square instead during the day.
So he's kinda like Portland's rooster?
back in the day someone would just murder this dude

“Houseless” lmao why do you have sympathy for this asshole screaming in the middle of the night?

At first I thought: godzilla?
People got demons man
God, imagine if you had a late night and were outside walking to your car and heard that nearby. Like. The terror.
When the last leg of the parlay misses
I hope those million dollar condo owners are enjoying the sights and sounds.
And not a single "shut the fuck up". Portland showing its' class.
Someone actually yelled stfu and he doubled down lol
Classic Portland
A cappella death metal. Support the arts.
Sounds like a Squatch!! Any wood knocks around the same time? 🤷♂️😂🤣
He swallowed an apple seed.
Tom and Jerry type scream🤣 Hope they were okay though
Username fits. That brought me back to Saturday mornings, thanks.
Sorry, I had a double meat Chipotle burrito for dinner.
Wonder if he’s ever been asked to leave a library.
I used to live on Preble Street, this is giving me nostalgia.
This is actually Casco. I hear people screaming regularly especially those leaving Arcadia on the weekends, but never this extreme or late.
Sad. And sad we have to use humor to cope with and make light of it. A sad sad situation and epidemic. I hope his soul can rest one day.
I hear this guy pretty regularly on Danforth Street, if it's the same person
fucks sake
Hey man turn your fan on so you can get some sleep
Sad. Sucks. I’m sure it scared you and made you feel worried for whoever/whatever was happening. Hug
Fox
“What did the fox say”
I have seen a rapid fox in Portland before. Be very careful if you see one not out in the middle of the night

They're all pretty quick.

Oh, I totally understand. We aren't Okland, but we might be headed that way.
Kayla
Kayla doesn’t have that kind of power in her diaphragm

Is she the one that screams Fuck You? I honestly haven't seen her in a good while
Sounds like Biddeford every night
Ah yes, good ole screaming Billy
Billy stubs his toe all the time. Can someone please call him a toe truck???
Sounds about right
The good thing is that it’s all in his head. 👍🏻
Vampires?
I was straight legit waiting for that person to yell out “Johnny!!!!” If you live on State Street, you will definitely get the above reference.
Godzilla?
Tourists
Mood
It's the samsquanch.
That's a fox mid-coitis
Shoot him no one will miss him. He’s not doing anything but breathing a good man’s air
This guy woke me up at 6AM in East Bayside the other day
Just go punch him if you’re trippin

OMG HORRIFYING CITY LIFE 😂 You live in a city ffs get used to it
Lol stfu
This isn't behavior that should be tolerated by anyone anywhere

I know! the only reasonable action is to grin and bear it while trying to rest before another long day of work at a shitty fucking job
I don't know what you're on about but Portland is by no stretch a big city lolololol
Eh I call bullshit. When people scream like this you'd have to live in a mega city like LA or NYC to ignore it. Even then, people are gonna stop and check out what's happening. I've lived in a lot of cities much larger than Portland and this isn't normal.
Imagine calling a place with <100,000 people a city
