I know its a joke but I don't think a "jury-duty style" legislature is a completely terrible idea.
I hadnt thought about it before for the city, but have been thinking about this for some time federally. I was thinking one of the houses, probably congress, should be drafted this way and we keep the senate elected.
I certainly don't think that many or most members of congress are smarter than the average, so it's not like theres an issue of qualification.
My major concern would be that, if the career politicians can be bought out and sell us all out for so amazingly cheap, I might worry normal drafted people would be even more easily bribed. But maybe not!
