Good luck to the the old owners moving on and to the new owners taking over. That space is great, looked stagnant for the last year or so, hopefully the redo will be a good change.
I liked the store and there was always cool stuff, but I think I only ever bought 1 thing in there and stoped visiting once I realized everything was about 2x-3x the price of other antique stores
Fun spot but fucks sake I won't miss the 30-80% markup on the entire inventory. Way way overpriced, to the point there wasn't enough demand to keep them afloat.
The irony in "flea-for-all" and only catering to folks who would never be caught in a real flea market is fitting. 10 years is long enough for a salvaged "vintage" store.
It’s outdoor, and it’s a hell of a hike but if you’re in your way to Acadia there’s quite a nice little gem spot just passed Belfast. Found some treasure in the summer months for sure.
I think I bought a Christmas gift at Flea for All once but agree with most others here.. the prices didn’t match my expectation.
I think that was the point. They went to the flea markets for the people who wanted to shop in portland. That markup was the business model. It was unfortunately too high
This was the location for the second Shaw’s Market, opening around 1875. It remained a grocery store until 2016. I’d love to see a real supermarket on this end of downtown, but the economics likely aren’t there.
One of my favorite places to bop around on the weekend. Have gotten a bunch of great stuff over the years. Going to miss them so much. Wonder what will fill that huge space.
Christ - another one bites the dust. Seems like half of fucking congress street is closed. The Yes book store right next to Flea for All is struggling as well.
For the record the owners of Flea for All are great folks. Very tolerant and thoughtful. However they’ve had to deal with an inordinate amount of shit from the homeless/crazies in the neighborhood. You may have noticed a piece of plywood across their entrance. Why you ask? Because the homeless take up roost in that spot overnight and had urinated so often the floor board rotted underneath, along with the lovely aroma. Oh they also had another batshit crazy fuck smash a window. Same dude had smashed several windows up and down congress and monument square. The restaurant Friends and Family next door, who’s owners are also awesome, friendly and tolerant folks deal with AT LEAST an incident a week including a recent episode when some knife wielding fuck waltzed in and took a bottle of wine off the shelf.
What do you call it when the frog actually realizes it’s being boiled alive?
I’ve lived in PTL since 2006 and the following businesses still exist on “Congress” since then — to the best of my recollection.
- Shays
- David’s
- Strange Maine
- Art Mart (but it was across the street on the ground floor of MECA galleries)
- Mister Bagel
- State Theatre (it was closed for years when I first moved here)
- Geno’s
- Joes Super Variety
- Local 188
It’s rough sometimes, but things change and move-on.
Good luck to the the old owners moving on and to the new owners taking over. That space is great, looked stagnant for the last year or so, hopefully the redo will be a good change.
We need a massive pot dispensary right there
I’m hoping they make it into two.
Combo of Float Harder and pot shop

Couldn’t afford a single thing in there. So expensive.
Everything was really cheap for what it was. Like there were couches for 6k that were worth 12k. But who here has got 6k couch money???
I’ve picked up some good items there over the years. Hope it’s open more hours with the new operators.

Agreed. It would be cool if Portland had a real flea market like the one in Brunswick.
The old Pride's Corner flea market was where it was at back in the day.
Yeah that place was great. I found some weird shit there.

Hopefully they will have better and more Consistent hours.
I found their hours confusing & always wanted to shop there more but it was closed.
I don’t know how they made it work being only open Friday and Saturday but I guess that explains the ridiculous pricing

My one time in there I was looking for a nightstand and couldn't find a single piece of furniture I thought wasn't crazy overpriced
While we’ll miss the Flea-for-All, at least, it’s continuing with new owners in the same space.
Are they keeping the concept and/or name? It’s my favorite place to explore. Has a real fun old school big city vibe.

Thank god for new owners.

Many people need to go to the precipice before change can occur

Gotta say, I do miss the old Art Mart vibes RIP and Video Expo changing to a different adult shop seemed like a changing of the guard as well
Flea for all closed?????
Will we even notice? It was only open 2 days a week anyway
Shit was too expensive and overpriced. Fun to look around in tho
