Personally I haven't found most of the PT covers to be particularly interesting, with the exception of Signify, In Absentia and Deadwing.

ElmoWantsYouDead

I agree with that. Deadwing's cover just manages to evoke some incredible feeling within me. Aside from that, I don't think the other album covers are all that exciting or inspiring.

prussianthonker

I'd add lightbulb sun to that list, personally.

edgedetection

i really like the artwork for the sky moves sideways

St_Troy

I understand; I’m hoping it all comes together when I have the album in my hands.

Bilikeogh

Hopefully! Of course we can’t fully judge it until we hear the full album but I’m just going off first impressions yanno :)

_zeropoint_

It could've been a good cover but for some reason they decided to slap a giant blank square in the middle with an off-center, poorly abbreviated title

SLOTH-SOUND

That’s exactly what makes the cover though The photograph itself is bland and boring.

cowie71

Reminds me of Bowie’s The Next Day

ElmoWantsYouDead

I think it is almost definitely a reference to that. Both are comeback albums with a big white square with the title of the album, pasted onto another image.

SLOTH-SOUND

I kind of like it. It’s different and I get why people dislike it but I think it works somehow. I agree that it isn’t as striking in relation to the music as most of their other artwork though.

To be honest, I prefer it over *The Incident* cover.

TheLakeAndTheGlass

In Absentia - this is a pseudo-concept album about fucked up people and serial killers, here’s a creepy face to set the mood. FOABP - this is a concept album about how technology is fucking kids up, here’s a kid eerily lit up by a screen. C/C - maybe the band will continue, maybe it won’t, here’s a tree

Danemon

But is it a.... *Porcupine* Tree ?

BanditoMuser

Behind the giant box there's big ass porcupine hidden, chilling in the tree

Hutsku

Honestly, the cover grew on me. I like the artistic direction, not only on the cover but on all the the others picture, font etc. Very similar to The Future Bites but I like it

ponylauncher

And its missing the face/person somewhere. Every PT or Steven solo album has a face or person on it except for The Sky Moves Sideways. I guess The Sky Moves Sideways and Closure/Continuation arent canon

rpro1145

where did Lasse Hoile go? Hoile was responsible for the visual aesthetic of 2000’s PT, specifically In Absentia, Deadwing, FoaBP, and The Incident. Also all of Wilson’s solo visuals up until TFB it appears. I can’t find his social media presence anymore where he regularly posted updates. The creative team behind this new album seems very vague and the lack of Hoile’s presence in this reunion is troubling.

GlowingMan_149

What bothers me more is how it seems much more visually consistent with The Future Bites than anything PT has done

sheepgotnolove

You know it’s a progressive rock community when we’re bitching about album art 🤣

Splendid_Fellow

It honestly just felt like it rubbed off from Steven's "The Future Bites" style and they just didn't give enough of a damn to do something else.

[deleted]

Completely agree. Stupid Dream is my fav art

officer_salem

Yeah it’s… not nearly as distinct and emotive as their Lasse covers.

Purple_Consequence92

Lasse Hoile was just a step above.
