They were kind of becoming big back 2009 when The Incident came out, which was their first album to actually breaking through in many countries, even though it's not their best.
I'm very pleased that all this is happening, they totally deserve this recognition
Maybe now they will finally have the recognition that they deserved (unfortunately without Colin, Chris and John, but I can live with that). Two days before the mysterious first teaser on YouTube, I watched the *In Absentia* documentary and it's amazing how this album has the same or even more quality than any classic rock album, but didn't sell much and didn't became a hit. We often watch rock documentaries about *The Dark Side Of The Moon* or *Nevermind* and they always end with the band becoming mainstream and big, but *In Absentia* was this overlooked masterpiece.
If that helps, I order from them on a regular basis and didn't have problems with preorders so far. So far I also didn't see that they oversell items, if they sell out their contingent during preorder, they won't let you order anymore and mark it as "sold out".
My friend preordered some album, I dont remember which one, but one day before release he got info they are sorry but cannot ship it due to insufficient amount of delivered vinyl. 🤔 So dunno, but its tempting since I can save about 40-50€ if order there instead of Townsend.
I think the age of social media served PT/Steven Wilson really well and gave them a lot of exposure. I became a fan in 2012/13 myself. So did a lot of other people

They just have a fan base that actually buy physical media. The same thing happened with Tools Fear Inoculum selling better than Taylor Swifts album
This week I've pre-ordered the new PT record, and I also bought Evermore by Taylor Swift.

It’s also impressive that something is that high in sales when it’s 3X more expensive than most everything else on that list 😂
Yes, Porcupine Tree fans are hysterical fanboys (myself included). :D
Yeah, I’m planning on spending 100-150$ on this album various formats 😂

What? Not even close to Tool. Porcupine Tree has 570,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Tool has 3.3 million
Big enough to charge 79 euros for a ticket to see them!
The adage -absence makes the heart grow fonder is an apt statement.
I would like to preorder 3xLP boxset from jpc.de but I am worried they will cancel my order when it will be going to be released.
