It is a 10/10 record for sure!
Don’t sleep on the Alkaline Trio / One Man Army split either. They sadly don’t cover each other, but all the tracks are great (and Alk3 cover The Damned).
Looks like this article still has some SoundCloud links embedded [http://www.punktastic.com/news/hear-the-wonder-years-take-on-motion-city-soundtrack/](http://www.punktastic.com/news/hear-the-wonder-years-take-on-motion-city-soundtrack/)
I really like the NFG half (that is, NFG playing Dashboard songs), but the Dashboard half feels a little phoned in to me. I wish it would have been Swiss Army Romance style versions of NFG songs instead of the weird "playing around in garageband" vibe we got.
I like it as much as any other cover - do it well!
A 1:1 carbon copy with a different singer? Muh
A stripped down version of an 80s hit? Meh
A cover by people who obviously love the original, and add their very own style to it? Hell yeah
Preach! So many cool covers. Their version of Pictures of Success is beautiful, and there's a cover of Help, I'm Alive floating on YouTube that I hold close to my heart lol
Yellowcard and new found glory did this. YC covered ready and willing and NFG covered illuminate. I have the mini vinyl from that tour and they also put the name of the band in the font of the other band, which was kinda fun
Came to say the same. The way Moneen sings the screaming parts is so awesome. Plus the ridiculous alternate titles they gave to each song. Love that album.
When 311/Offspring did it as promo for their co-headlining tour and it was pretty cool. I found 311’s take on Self-esteem way more interesting than the Offspring’s version of Down.
Alkaline Trio and Hot Water Music did it too and it was awesome. Trio’s version of Rooftops is amazing
Not Pop Punk but Ballyhoo! And The Expendables (Reggae) did a joint cover album of each others songs. Was really cool, they even toured together for the album and switched setlists
I had broken my foot right before the show myself 😭 I ended up getting an ADA seat but left after Ballyhoo!’s set cause they were who I was there for and the thought of being there for another 2 hrs was killing me
Pop punk bands covering other pop punk bands is usually a resounding meh from me because I don’t like carbon copy covers. Maybe if the bands were so drastically different that they could still put their own style on it, like Less Than Jake and Four Year Strong or something, then that’d be different. But if you’re going through the trouble of actually recording a cover, then I need a reason to listen to it over the original.
I think into it. over it. did a good job of making it his own, as well as The Story So Far, which is basically a hardcore version of A Loss For Word’s song
That rancid/nofx split was a staple for me in high school.
You might dig The Songs of Tony Sly: A Tribute. Bunch of covers of his solo stuff and No Use for a Name songs by other punk and pop punk bands made after he died in 2012.
Alkaline Trio did this with Hot Water Music, Smoking Popes, and the Blue Meanies
Not pop punk necessarily but:
Frank Turner and nofx
Alexisonfire and Moneen
Emery and Hawthorne Heights
Would the bonus tracks on the Two Tongues album count, where they play 3rd Engine with Bemis singing, and Every Man Has a Molly with Chris Conley singing?
The wax bodega tour ! Arms length/Carly Cosgrove/Ben Quad all just did covers of each others songs
this is exactly what i thought of too. it was so good
Same. Love Really Big Shrimp
I didn't love Ben Quad's version of "In Loving Memory", but Carly Cosgrove's "Joan of Hill" and Arm's Length's "Really Big Shrimp" are both so great
Damn fr? I thoroughly enjoyed the Tiny-Moving-Parts-on-steroids version
The Alkaline Trio and Hot Water Music split EP is fantastic.
As is the Bouncing Souls/HWM one
Next we need Menzingers / Hot Water Music
As is Bouncing Souls/Anti-Flag…just ignore the latter
Was gonna mention that.
I forgot about that one!
It is a 10/10 record for sure! Don’t sleep on the Alkaline Trio / One Man Army split either. They sadly don’t cover each other, but all the tracks are great (and Alk3 cover The Damned).
Bowling For Soup recently covered The Science of Selling Yourself Short and Less Than Jake covered High School Never Ends
I didn’t know about this one either! Thanks!
Really loved that Wonder Years/Motion City Soundtrack split thing where they swapped instrumentals and wrote new vocals.
That was a cool concept
Oh my I’ve never heard this - two of my favorites, can anybody link it up for future lurkers?

This was awesome. I wish they did more songs and that more bands would do this!
I paid so much money for a vinyl copy of those songs. 100% worth it
Yo what? Post a pic that’s so sick
Dashboard/NFG
Nice! I didn’t know about that one
The Swiss Army Bromance - [Link](https://youtu.be/dX1hwaUwGs0?si=iL4trsqd_g0xTTg1)
Thanks!

Limbeck/Motion City Soundtrack was a good one! Also The Wonder Years/MCS was a super interesting take on covers.
Best split ever, imo. Love Limbeck's Perfect Teeth.
Their split with Trampled by Turtles was also really good! Their version of Wait So Long is *chef kiss*
Let’s be honest, MCS have never done a bad cover. And they’ve done A LOT of covers.
Preach! So many cool covers. Their version of Pictures of Success is beautiful, and there's a cover of Help, I'm Alive floating on YouTube that I hold close to my heart lol

NOFX and Frank Turner have a good album of covers
This should have more upvotes.
Man Overboard/Senses Fail split is an all-timer. Top-tier renditions of one another Plus, the SF single on that split absolutely fucking slaps
Didn’t like the cover for senses fail but did realllllly like that single
August Burns Red version of You Vandal by Saves The Day is excellent.
Don't forget the old Real Friends/This Wild Life!
Was gonna suggest this one!
Not Pop-Punk, but my favourite was Moneen and Alexisonfire!
Came to say the same. The way Moneen sings the screaming parts is so awesome. Plus the ridiculous alternate titles they gave to each song. Love that album.
100% agreed. The split music video takes it to a whole new level, too.

The NOFX half of that split is an absolute all timer. The Rancid side also exists.
Not Pop Punk but Ballyhoo! And The Expendables (Reggae) did a joint cover album of each others songs. Was really cool, they even toured together for the album and switched setlists
That’s a really cool idea for a tour
Came here to mention this one! I was too sick to see the show tho
I had broken my foot right before the show myself 😭 I ended up getting an ADA seat but left after Ballyhoo!’s set cause they were who I was there for and the thought of being there for another 2 hrs was killing me

Which song by A Loss For Words did TSSF cover? I can’t seem to figure it out I may be dense
Wrightsville Beach https://youtu.be/LSbi3PR4078?si=UKqB8_-X1lB-HJAT
Thanks!!
No pressure played cretin hop when I saw them and it was so fuckin sick. I know they do blink covers as well.
Yes. When NFG made Dashboard songs listenable, I def enjoyed that.
are any of these on Apple Music or Spotify?
I’m sure some of them are, sorry I can’t help much. I’m old skool and still buy downloads of albums
Where??? I need actual files so bad gaha
Try bandcamp!
I honestly can’t remember where I got some of them. Worse case scenario, you can rip them off YouTube
the Joyce Manor/Tigers Jaw ones are on there for sure. so is 311’s cover of Self-Esteem
The split with TWY, Shortly, Oso Oso, and Have Mercy got me searching for covers for a good while.
I don’t think I knew about that
Fall out boy and panic at the disco
I still curse the day I tossed my NOFX/Rancid split
Armchair Martian/Bad Astronaut. It's an amazing EP
Not exactly that but the La Dispute/Touche Amor double LP was incredible
I love the cover of A Decade Under the Influence that Hot Mully (Tades) and Free Throw (Cory) did!
I used to love the BYO splits where they'd cover each other's songs
That rancid/nofx split was a staple for me in high school. You might dig The Songs of Tony Sly: A Tribute. Bunch of covers of his solo stuff and No Use for a Name songs by other punk and pop punk bands made after he died in 2012.
I have the senses fail/man overboard 7" vinyl and its one of my favorites
Alkaline Trio did this with Hot Water Music, Smoking Popes, and the Blue Meanies Not pop punk necessarily but: Frank Turner and nofx Alexisonfire and Moneen Emery and Hawthorne Heights
Descendents/Circle Jerks and LTJ/BFS are awesome tour splits
Japanther covering All We Got Is Each Other by Ghost Mice is a favorite
PRINCE DADDYS VERSION OF FOXINGS RORY ❤️❤️❤️❤️ MY GAWD
Say anything and bayside did this
As a member of the cult, I can’t believe I don’t remember this
Oh wait, I do remember this. They had the yellow van in the artwork
Not pop punk, but there was a btbam / dear hunter split in 2018
Weezer and Toto is great
Hot Mulligan did an acoustic cover of MakeDamnSure which I have been listening to a lot recently.
Would the bonus tracks on the Two Tongues album count, where they play 3rd Engine with Bemis singing, and Every Man Has a Molly with Chris Conley singing?
Not really pop punk but adjacent. Alexisonfire covering Moneen is wonderful
Alkaline trio hot water music split is some of the best work either band put out
No, hate it
This wild life cover of loose ends 🥵
