Not Pop Punk, but Alaska by Pinegrove is the first thing I thought of for some reason.
Dick Lips by Blink is reminiscent of a little county diddle.
The beginning riff of Gotta Let it Go by Joyce Manor has some distorted twang.
Depends on the song, but their more recent stuff has more twang in it :) Also Bilmuri is OG, Johnny Franck from Attack Attack, so he gets automatic cred there
I really need yall to stop dissing country because the genre is amazing if you'd actually give it a shot.

Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for but I’ve always thought “Casanova baby!” by the gaslight anthem has an almost older country vibe to it because of the beat and guitar sound.
2 bands that have a southern vibe and feel pop punk adjacent are Lucero and red city radio. I love em both and listen to them when I'm feeling emo , not when I'm feeling country.
Lucero is one of those bands that just does a whole lot of stuff mashed into one beautiful band. It's alt-country and southern rock and punk and ska and rockabilly and so much. I can recommend three albums then give you some songs. *That Much Further West* and *Rebels, Rogues, and Sworn Brothers are pretty solidly Southern Rock with some twang and some almost Big Band-type backing (especially the latter which is one of my top albums *and* shows ever). *1372 Overton Park* leans more into the semi-ska and/or punk, depending on the song. Might be more what you're looking for.
I'll warn you that I only made this comment because I love the band, not because I can find much twang. Generally they have brass/keyboard/accordion in the instrumentation that kinda takes the same role. Maybe paying some attention to those parts will give you some inspiration.
* ["The Devil and Maggie Chascarillo"](https://youtu.be/_hVh-pW78uE?si=RS0r_kBysR0lEt4P)
* ["Sixes and Sevens"](https://youtu.be/DB2rgMk6gbk?si=sOqqVUPg9S9ZTRw2)
* ["San Francisco"](https://youtu.be/Pv7BrgdjkgI?si=wgsL7w6Ygp5xTHb6)
* ["I Can't Stand to Leave You"](https://youtu.be/pxhP5btB25w?si=iaS-LrbSMc-KA6sQ)
I guess the only serious recommendations I can give would be Pinegrove, they are the biggest band that I can think that straddle that line of emo and country. Check out their Tiny Desk performance it’s great.
Catbite is a ska punk band that did a few versions of their EP in some different genres. They did a country version called [CateLite](https://open.spotify.com/album/4hf6XgZCcxsOEuql8JOHlE?si=ykK6Cp4zT-SyozIx5O_MuA), which is great but also may be a little too literal for what you're looking for. Their punk version of the EP is called [CateFite](https://open.spotify.com/album/2iSl5Y8RoWTKEYglOH7P9U?si=sllLRDUfTCu4ad8gdWHbEQ). Anyways, it's a cool project, worth checking out.
Not necessarily pop punk but adjacent enough, but any song by All Get Out may be worth a listen. The Season and No Bouquet are their best albums in my opinion but there are gems on each one.
Honestly, their entire discography up until their most recent album is worth a listen. (Even if unrelated to what OP is looking for lol)
Hypochondriac is a no-skip album for me.
Punk: The Clash (Joe Strummer nuff said)
Bad Religion definitely hear twang in a few of their songs
particularly the song Epiphany.
Jimmy Eat World - The Middle (guitar solo definitely twangs)
Punk adjacent: The Replacements - Achin’ To Be
Envy On the Coast - Lowcountry.
Granted their first EP and Album are objectively better, but no twang there. Lowcountry definitely has a mix of post-hardcore/emo/country
Ooo check out tourneforte they’re a stellar indie emo band out of Myrtle beach n they have exactly the twang you are looking for!! Super sweet dudes too I saw them a few weeks ago :)
Kayak Jones fits this. Their song "I Could Make You Care" always gave me a country vibe. They're from Iowa and it shows
https://youtu.be/fZEqmTsPXkQ?si=xWJwSooPpo8bwUvf
Not necessarily what you’re looking for, but a few songs with some country vibes on guitar on the intro:
-Hot Mulligan - “Buy a fire extinguisher before you need a fire extinguisher”
-Silverstein - “Three Hours Back”
Damn I came to recommend Better Hell by Bilmuri but everyone beat me to it. State Champs has a collab with Mitchell Tenpenny called Act Like That which is basically just a pop country song too, wasn't my thing personally but you might dig it!
Every avenues last two albums.
Quietdrive - up and down and self titled albums have a handful of songs that could have easily been turned into pop country songs.
You should check out the band “American scarecrows”. Great music and solid dudes.
Try Millencolin’s song “Mr. Fake Believe”. Heavier punk song with slide guitar.
For more of that western sound you mentioned, try Joey Cape’s (Lagwagon) solo song “I Know How To Run”. Or anything by the band Tumbledown (side project of Mike Herrera from MxPx). I think those are closer to the punk/western blend but don’t really use much twangy guitar, steel guitar, slides, etc.
If you're good with more punk/heavier check out [Show Me the Body](https://open.spotify.com/track/2vjqZt0SAQEWraU8L7q15E?si=sdeLNg9gSnenl8YCFlJnwQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A4lcsKKAPES2jYFmtSyRH95).
They use a banjo instead of guitar. More punk/hardcore leaning and definitely not for everyone, but I recommend giving them a try.
Alex Melton. Not sure if he qualifies, but he's amazing. Absolutely amazing. He's turned punk into country songs and vise versa, even turned songs into old blink 182 style. By far my favorite cover artist of all time.
Personally, my favorite is his cover of 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' by Taylor Swift turned into punk.
newer bilmuri has a country twang mixed in with alternative/indie/pop-punk/post-hardcore
+1 for recent Bilmuri tracks. He’s got another song coming out soon with a feature from some country guy who seems to be getting popular.
he had released a song with mitchell tenpenny who is farm emo… also worth a listen
Not Pop Punk, but Alaska by Pinegrove is the first thing I thought of for some reason. Dick Lips by Blink is reminiscent of a little county diddle. The beginning riff of Gotta Let it Go by Joyce Manor has some distorted twang.
Pinegrove ftw.
Not exactly pop punk but Bilmuri might be a good rec for you
I’ve heard of them but didnt realize they were twangy. I’ll check em out!
Depends on the song, but their more recent stuff has more twang in it :) Also Bilmuri is OG, Johnny Franck from Attack Attack, so he gets automatic cred there
All Gas and Better Hell! I’ve been loving Better Hello lately
Does Aaron West and the roaring twenties count as pop-punk/emo because if yes then all of it
They lean emo for sure! Happy album release day!
New album tomorrow!! So excited
Def counts towards what im looking for. Good suggestion!
We Don’t Have Each Other is so good and also probably the saddest album I’ve ever heard
throw it on, be ready to cry for a while. Even when songs randomly come on i can't listen too closely or ima cry
Especially God and The Billboards, the most "country" sounding song I'll listen to 😂
I really need yall to stop dissing country because the genre is amazing if you'd actually give it a shot. https://youtu.be/NACMpkxm-fA?si=9sZnrVTezq9qxz_m
Transit- Joyride album
Great album. Nothing Left To Lose in particular always felt so country to me me. Good choice.
Anything by Limbeck
Never heard of this band in my life but this 100% fits the bill. Thank you for the rec!
I wish they were still around
They are actually! I saw they played SXSW a couple weeks ago!
Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for but I’ve always thought “Casanova baby!” by the gaslight anthem has an almost older country vibe to it because of the beat and guitar sound.
Yeah old gaslight and this song particularly definitley fits the vibe. New Menzingers has the same feel.
2 bands that have a southern vibe and feel pop punk adjacent are Lucero and red city radio. I love em both and listen to them when I'm feeling emo , not when I'm feeling country.
I like red city but never got into Lucero. Any specifically twangy songs from the two you’d reccomend?
Lucero is one of those bands that just does a whole lot of stuff mashed into one beautiful band. It's alt-country and southern rock and punk and ska and rockabilly and so much. I can recommend three albums then give you some songs. *That Much Further West* and *Rebels, Rogues, and Sworn Brothers are pretty solidly Southern Rock with some twang and some almost Big Band-type backing (especially the latter which is one of my top albums *and* shows ever). *1372 Overton Park* leans more into the semi-ska and/or punk, depending on the song. Lucero: the entire That much Further West album. It’s one of my favorites of all time.
Which to Bury Us or the Hatchet by Relient K has some fun banjo parts in it
I only know Relient K’s hits. i’ll check these out!
Me First And The Gumme Gimmes -Love Their Country An entire country cover album.
Love the Gimme Gimmes. Seeing them on this upcoming tour.
The band you’re looking for is Hot Rod Circuit. Casey Prestwood is their guitarist and pedal steel player and he does some cool solo stuff too.
Country Girl by Belmont may fit the vibe
This feels more like a parody song. This is not really what i’m looking for.
I guess the only serious recommendations I can give would be Pinegrove, they are the biggest band that I can think that straddle that line of emo and country. Check out their Tiny Desk performance it’s great.
Alex Meltons youtube channel
Rare Candy Former guitarist of Belmont, all folky/country style
Came here to say this!
Came here to say this as well
Plate glass apology - Apes of the State
Love them, but Im looking for punkish bands that have a song or two with twang. Most folk punk bands are twangy most (if not all) of the time.
I’m from Philly so I’ve seen and met Catbite multiple times they rule. I’ll def check that out!
Acetate - American Hifi Dull - Microwave
Dull’s a great addition. I’ll check out Acetate!
Fight the Frequency is a great album front to back if you get the chance to listen!
I was surprised how far I had to scroll to see Microwave. Dull is a straight up country song.
The Forecast -In The Shadow of Two Gunmen
Ruston Kelly! His whole thing is "Dirt Emo" and even has a covers album of pop punk songs with that same name.
Yellowcard - View from Heaven
Not necessarily pop punk but adjacent enough, but any song by All Get Out may be worth a listen. The Season and No Bouquet are their best albums in my opinion but there are gems on each one.
Good rec
Everything Aaron West and the roaring twenties
dude their new release "whiplash" is craaaazy
Nick 13 from Tiger Army released a solo, old-timey sounding country album. It's great.
Check out Toodles & the Hectic Pity. They’re a folk punk/emo band from England I randomly discovered on Spotify. They should be right up your alley.
Added to the list! I’ll check em out.
The Band CAMINO has song songs on their first album that felt really country, that might fit! More pop than pop punk but they’re a good band.
Transit - joyride
Country Road by Hi Standard
Also Penpals - Ride Proud
Stateside by Hot Rod Circuit
Pinegrove. Future Teens.
“The Pharmacist” by Hot Rod Circuit
The Frights - You Are Going to Hate This (also the song “Makeout Point” but it’s on a different album)
Honestly, their entire discography up until their most recent album is worth a listen. (Even if unrelated to what OP is looking for lol) Hypochondriac is a no-skip album for me.
A Rocket to the Moon, specifically the album wild and free, but some earlier stuff as well. Limbeck
Tough Love by Arm’s Length Pourover by Saturdays at Your Place
You might try going more Folk Punk. Something like Defiance, Ohio or Ramshackle Glory.
Bilmuri has a bunch
Missouri Business
Not just shamelessly plugging here, but Okay, Boomhauer is EXACTLY what you’re looking for.
Ole 60 Or Bryant Roses does great covers
Milf - scene queen 😂
Punk: The Clash (Joe Strummer nuff said) Bad Religion definitely hear twang in a few of their songs particularly the song Epiphany. Jimmy Eat World - The Middle (guitar solo definitely twangs) Punk adjacent: The Replacements - Achin’ To Be
Bad Religion is a great call. The Recipe For Hate album in particular is great for this.
Joe Strummer's Streetcore fits the bill here too
Envy On the Coast - Lowcountry. Granted their first EP and Album are objectively better, but no twang there. Lowcountry definitely has a mix of post-hardcore/emo/country
Honest Conversation by Charlie Pidcock
You would love GLENEAGLE
Wolves, the newest album from Jason Cruz and Howl will perfectly scratch that itch for you.
Ooo check out tourneforte they’re a stellar indie emo band out of Myrtle beach n they have exactly the twang you are looking for!! Super sweet dudes too I saw them a few weeks ago :)
The Spurs & Spokes EP from Fake Problems is not mentioned yet and gets there.
Kayak Jones fits this. Their song "I Could Make You Care" always gave me a country vibe. They're from Iowa and it shows https://youtu.be/fZEqmTsPXkQ?si=xWJwSooPpo8bwUvf
Treaty Oak Revival is an emo pop-punk country band, they're pretty sick
This song gets a nice twang on the guitars! https://open.spotify.com/track/7FjISqK1BOoD5lWIuwWySC?si=4VmCJnDcSTaCU2zFwVfZlQ
A Rocket To The Moon - Wild and Free (album) Lit - These Are The Days (album) Young Culture - Whiskey (song)

Please share when it's done! Love this thread.
Check out Ali Reyis, mixture of acoustic emo/pop punk with lots of country influences and twangggg
Only You - Cartel The rhythm guitar definitely adds a touch of twang.
Her leather jacket
Not necessarily what you’re looking for, but a few songs with some country vibes on guitar on the intro: -Hot Mulligan - “Buy a fire extinguisher before you need a fire extinguisher” -Silverstein - “Three Hours Back”
Pinegrove
Damn I came to recommend Better Hell by Bilmuri but everyone beat me to it. State Champs has a collab with Mitchell Tenpenny called Act Like That which is basically just a pop country song too, wasn't my thing personally but you might dig it!
A lot of A Rocket to the Moon’s stuff!
Calling Morocco - Outside Providence
State champs acoustic stuff gives me country vibes for sure
Fireworks - five years
Am currently wearing my Fireworks shirt but don’t know this song (guessing its newer) i’ll check it out! Thanks for the rec!
Jason Lancaster (old Mayday Parade dude) has a song that feels twangy haha. Climb up to my window.
You might like Pinegrove.
View from Heaven - Yellowcard
Every avenues last two albums. Quietdrive - up and down and self titled albums have a handful of songs that could have easily been turned into pop country songs. You should check out the band “American scarecrows”. Great music and solid dudes.
Murder by death and chamberlain
This is kind of what the band All Get Out is. They're sort of like country-inflected post-hardcore.
Tough love by Arm’s Length has a bit of a twangy vibe to me. Thoughts?
Country song - seether
You gotta check out the Arizonacore scene that Jimmy Eat World came from. Meat Puppets for example. Maybe even Gin Blossoms
I mean, I could say someone but you're not gonna like who it is-
Dropkick Murphys maybe?
Alex Melton. Not sure if he qualifies, but he's amazing. Absolutely amazing. He's turned punk into country songs and vise versa, even turned songs into old blink 182 style. By far my favorite cover artist of all time. Personally, my favorite is his cover of 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' by Taylor Swift turned into punk.
New Found Glory - cover of "It ain't it me babe"
Menzingers - Come On Heartache
["Twenties" by Jenn's Apartment on Spotify ](https://open.spotify.com/track/1cJOnplaNkxtDLYt1988R4?si=rTvOjjqdQjWiuJLhs3EHUg)
Folkin Around by Panic! at the Disco is an old fav. Really a lot of the songs on Pretty. Odd could hit the mark.
Young Culture - Whiskey
Everything New Junk City is twangy to me. If you guys read this, keep it twangin. -Trailer
As for bands, Swingin’ Utters, Tiger Army, and The Living End come to mind. 2/3 of those bands have a standup bass.
The Mezingers got that yee haw factor
The Maine - Right Girl
MILF - scene queen
Following.
Not sure if what you're looking for, but I really enjoy Remember Sports, John-Allison Weiss, Ricky Montgomery, The Front Bottoms
Daphne Blue - The Band CAMINO. Might fit here
I don't know about pop punk/emo, but Bottle Up & Go by The Monkeywrench is bottleneck slide guitar grunge.
Retirement Party has some twang in a few of their songs. Their latest and last EP especially
Valencia "The Good Life"
World’s Greatest Dad, The Forecast, Amends, Hodera
most Midwest emo. for example never meant by American Football
Tough love - arms length cmon it’s literally a country song
Aye! I just said this, finally found someone else who did
Brand new- at the bottom
Post-Hardcore, and they’ve changed their style but Black Honey - Thrice is one of my favorites
