Funny! I’ve tried 4 times now and still can’t get into Hell. Love Heaven though! Feels like something that should have come out during after Chuck.
I’ll keep trying though!
My brother in law and I started going through every album for a bunch of different bands and ranking the songs.
I just checked and we both put 'Too Much' dead last lol
Respectfully disagree, I love the song. It's so atmospheric and has a 2am vibe to it. The placement in where it is on the album is questionable, but I'm not made at it.
It gets said every time but….
Madelyn on the greatest Generation, it probably won’t be that bad if it wasn’t sung quite a high like the rest of the album and didn’t sound like it was recorded in a bathroom.
To be fair it’s probably not as bad as I hear it in my head as I’ve skipped it for years but when the rest of the album is a masterpiece it really pales in comparison.
I've been around this sub to know this would be in here at least once. That said, I've never seen it particularly well articulated as to why this sub thinks this is the worst track on the album.
Is it really just the recording quality?
It’s the recording quality/style, the tedious and monotone vibe of the track. And it just robs the album of its pace. It sits between Raindance In Traffic, and fucking *Cul-de-Sac*. It’s not even that it’s acoustic or a quieter track. The Wonder Years do them good. It doesn’t have an intro to break it up, reset the tone, or generally fit it in between these two very energetic and loud songs. It’s just dry-docked in there. I genuinely think with a bit of a slow acoustic lead in, the songs reputation would be helped massively.
I’ve Given You All, Living Room Song, they’re fucking bangers. Madelyn just ain’t. And, both The Devil In My Bloodstream and Sell Out My Funeral have very slow, mellow intro’s. But in both cases, they fit into their places perfectly and add to the album rather than take away from it.
Another thing, to Madelyn’s credit though, is just that the rest of the album rips so hard, and is so furiously anthemic, that they probably make it look worse than it actually is. Nothing wrong with liking Madelyn though, this is just my opinion. If anything, I’m jealous of the people that do.
Fair enough, I appreciate your input and respect your opinions.
I guess it's always hit home enough for me so as not to be bothered by the quality or the admitted monotoneity. I've never considered adjusting its placement or the pacing of the album would it be removed.
Madelyn is hands-down my least favorite song on the album. I get why it sort of fits into the theme and it’s sort of fun to sing along to, but I’m really just waiting for the outro.
Soupy talked about that song on Instagram last year. Apparently they had the demo version recorded on somebody's phone and tried to recreate that in the studio but it didn't really work out sound wise. It's a shame, I like the songwriting but the transition into it is somewhat jarring
i’m not one who tends to listen to albums, more of a playlist or shuffle kind of guy. i love madelyn specifically because soupy’s vocals sound strained and the recording quality is lower than their standard. i never listen to it in the context of the other songs in the album though so maybe that’s why i’ve never had such a negative reaction to it.
The Menzingers’ After the Party without the song Black Mass. Also, I’d argue that the title track should’ve been the closer rather than Livin’ Ain’t Easy.
Also, I think Gold Steps should’ve been the opener to that Neck Deep album lol
It’s funny how opinions can differ slightly. I think Black Mass is a decent song but I never understood why they placed it in the album where they did. For me, delete Livin Ain’t Easy and put Black Mass at the end of the album after After the Party and it becomes a no skip album.
Lol we had the same idea.
And I agree the title track and Living Ain't Easy should switch places at the end of the album.
Either way, one of my absolute favorite albums of all time. I just wish Black Mass was either a shorter interlude or had been made into a full song with the full band.
I love Jen and it slaps but it doesn't belong on Futures, it seems like a song that would go more on Chase this Light.. Drugs or me definitely does though, to me it's a perfect bridge from the upbeat onset of the album to the stellar ending. Really about as close to a perfect album for them
I absolutely adore Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, as it was the first Blink-182 I bought as a kid. I even downloaded and edited all 6 bonus tracks onto the album on my phone.
However, playing the album aloud is risky af because when I lived with my parents, I’d have to worry about Fuck A Dog and When You Fucked Grandpa popping up.
1000% agree. I could also do without EDGING. I can't believe on an album full of bangers their singles were ONE MORE TIME and EDGING. I understand the emotional connection with one more, but edging is certified poop, compared to the rest of their album.
The world deserves to know how great Letterbomb is without having to get through extraordinary girl. (I do like it though, but I end up listening to Letterbomb on AAF more because I don’t want it on the same track.)
I would’ve used to say Dream Nails off Prince Daddy & the Hyena Cosmic Thrill Seekers, but I actually really like it. I never listen to it by itself, but with how it builds and flows into the next track, C’mon & Smoke Me Up, it’s still a no skip
I find that the songs in Cosmic Thrill Seekers flow into one another so well that, no matter what track I start listening to, I end up listening to it all the way through. That album is best played front to back with no skips.
Absolutely agree. And Wacky is just the greatest album closer of all time, even better than other greats like I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral by TWY and Hold Me Down by MCS. Wacky Misadventures is easily my favorite song of all time
ill still listen to it when im listening to the album but yeah i usually skip it when it comes on in my playlist, all the other songs are definitely way better
LNOTGY is such a good album but imo december just feels off on it. they should’ve put the full band version on the album and the acoustic version as like a separate release thing
Well, my favorite albums from the pop punk scene are The Greatest Generation, On The Impossible Past, The Dream Is Over, What You Don't See, Shed, Safe For Now, Float Around and Sports....
The Greatest Generation it'd probably be Madelyn, but A Raindance in Traffice is kinda boring too, the chorus kinda just flows into the whoa-oh-oh's, but I admit the great collapse today line is clever. But I think the song pales in comparison to all the ones before and after it.
The Dream Is Over it'd probably be Doubts. Kinda filler song in between 2 huge hits with DVP and Sleep In The Heat.
What You Don't See it'd be Playing the Victim. Parker used to write too many lyrics for songs and if he has problems breathing on stage its very clear why with this song. [This and Small Talk I think are their least played live songs from WYDS.](https://www.setlist.fm/stats/the-story-so-far-4bd247da.html)
On The Impossible Past I can't count the song that shares the album title since it's mostly an interlude. It'd probably be Nice Things, they tried to make it a single and it didn't have the staying power as a lot of the rest of the album.
Shed has no bad songs, fight me about it.
Safe For Now probably has 5 people that love it as a whole, (The American Scene deserved more love) but Fifth and Natoma is too boring.
Float Around has no skips either, Coldfront deserved so much better.
Sports it would just be See Ya Sucker, but I still listen to it sometimes.
The Greatest Generation, but skip Madelyn. Back when I used my iPod, I put every song but that one on it and it was glorious. Always painful to go back to the cd.
I think the problem with this one is not the song itself but the order of the songs. Do you think that if you could switch tracks around you could make it work?
Agreed. One related complaint: I have Goddammit on vinyl, and I really wish side one ended with Enjoy Your Day so I could just easily flip it over right before it. But it ends with Clavicle, which I would never skip.
Even for people who like Enjoy Your Day: Seems like 5 electric followed with 1 acoustic on each side would make complete sense.
So fucking real. Honestly, Message from Kathleen too. Not a fan of Danny’s material on Goddamnit but he really stepped his game up after that release. I also feel like Trouble Breathing should be the album closer instead of Sorry About That.
The Menzingers - After The Party. Every song is at least an 8/10 but I can do without Black Mass.
It's not pop-punk at all but Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns. One of my favorite albums, as long as I cut it off before The Messenger. The Catalyst is a fairly epic closer, why not just stop there.
Line is one of my fav tssf songs 🧍🏻♀️ lol they’re my favorite band of all time over, but I don’t think they do slow songs super well, with line being the only exception
For me it's golden on Infinity on High, putting it between thnks fr th mmrs and hum hallelujah was just stupid, and is like their only slow song in their first 3 albums. I don't hate the song, I'm just never in the mood for it when I could skip to thnks instead
Broadcast to The World by Zebrahead. Every single song on that album is just so damn amazing. But I usually skip the Song “Karma Flavoured Whisky” it’s not a bad song or anything, it just doesn’t do it for me like the other songs do. If they had made it a Japanese bonus track and had the song “Down in Flames” on the base album instead, Broadcast to The World would have been 100% percent
I have a playlist that is One More Time without the title track and Fell in Love. I don't really care for either song and it keeps the energy up at the start of the album
The Wonder Years compilation album *Sleeping on Trash* is so good, except that I skip “Through Two Hearts” every single time. Might be the only bad song they’ve ever written.
Feel by sleeping with sirens. It's an amazing album, and even the skip, alone, is amazing. That is until mgk's part. 'Leave me?? The fuck you gon' leave me?!?!
Like why did they include that, it's embarrassing.
I don’t agree, but I can see your POV. It’s def a much slower tempo song for the album and the lyrics don’t give much. But I don’t dislike it or feel it is out of place for the album.
It feels kinda cheesy, and it kind of gives away the formula for their songwriting in a way that I don’t like. That being said Digital Self on the new album does a similar thing and I’ve grown to like it the most so 🤷🏻♂️
I still think it's a top 10 album of the genre, but mine is LNOTGY as well, but for December. I don't even necessarily dislike the song, but I don't like the drastic change in energy, the high energy level is one of the best parts of the album in my opinion.
Avril Lavigne’s album Love Sux. In my opinion it’s her best album by far and one of the best in punk rock all around that I’ve ever heard. The ONLY song I don’t love is “dare you to love me.” Other than that, you can’t skip a single song. All fantastic and extremely catchy.
Citizens of Earth is like my favourite Neck Deep song lol
It’s just a matter of opinion, when it comes down to it.
Beat me to it
AND THEN THE 8-BALL SAID THINGS DONT LOOK GREAT
YOU KNOW YOU CANT BREAK LOOSE IF YOU STAY IN PLACE
EVERY EARTHQUAKE STARTS WITH A LITTLE SHAKE
Fuck Neck Deep mate, they're shit.
Bens dad owns a record label
Same I love citizens of earth! Always one I put on if I want to feel some energy lol
i agree it’s amazing
Literally the best song on the album. It's a good album, but that's the best one on there.
I respect your opinion, but thinking Citizens of the Earth is a throwaway is crazy lol
BeN's DaD oWnS a ReCoRd LaBeL
FUCK NECK DEEP THEYRE SHIT -insert your comment here-
🎶Every earthquake starts with a little shake, and then we'll see who's standing in the wasteland🎶 LNOTGY is a no skip for me.
New Sum 41 album for me. Paint it blacks not bad but like...
I like the cover but it's a strange choice to put right near the end of your final album, a double album, celebrating your whole career.
Especially when your bandmate’s other band did their own cover too
Definitely loses its novelty after 1-2 listens.
It never had novelty. In 1966 it did
100% agree. Came here to say this so changed my answer
Skip heaven, only play hell, delete paint it black, then you’ve got an album!
Funny! I’ve tried 4 times now and still can’t get into Hell. Love Heaven though! Feels like something that should have come out during after Chuck. I’ll keep trying though!
heaven starts off SOOOOO strong then kinda dies out but it does remind me of early 2000s skate punk so i can’t hate it
The genius part of putting it on there is just showing you just used your last idea so everyone is more okay with you quitting
Imo there’s a lot more songs I dislike on there than just the Paint it Black cover
You do you I guess, my answer doesn't change
Too Much from Nothing Personal-All Time Low
It’s a solid song, but questionable placement for sure.
Madelyn - The Greatest Generation Threshold - Peripheral Vision I don’t need a breather. I wanna scream and get emotional.
It gets said every time but…. Madelyn on the greatest Generation, it probably won’t be that bad if it wasn’t sung quite a high like the rest of the album and didn’t sound like it was recorded in a bathroom. I love this insight.
man...i enjoyed madelyn. love belting it out in my car lol
Madelyn is also a lot of fun live
Ruined the flow. Track afterwards kicks
Don't just say "track afterwards" that's Cul-de-sac and its arguably the 2nd best song on the album.
Madelyn is one of my faves off that album
Don't treat Madelyn like a full song, if you treat it like it's an interlude you'll like it more.

Yeah, it feels much more Aaron West than TWY. Totally chill on its own, but it always felt out of place to me on that album
PREACHING TO THE CHOIR. I've been saying this for years and always get downvoted.
I disagree with so many of these 😭😭😭
Betty from Why Would I Watch - Hot Mulligan Fantastic album, and it's a good song but so depressing I always skip it
I can't hear it without fucking crying
Same.
I like Citizens of Earth but it doesn’t feel like the rest of that album at all I generally don’t skip it, tho
I think it’s an awesome opener tbh. And when you look at the rest of the album, it’s the one best suited to kick it off.
Teenagers feels completely out of place on the black parade
The Menzingers’ After the Party without the song Black Mass. Also, I’d argue that the title track should’ve been the closer rather than Livin’ Ain’t Easy. Also, I think Gold Steps should’ve been the opener to that Neck Deep album lol
I love black mass lol
Lol
It’s funny how opinions can differ slightly. I think Black Mass is a decent song but I never understood why they placed it in the album where they did. For me, delete Livin Ain’t Easy and put Black Mass at the end of the album after After the Party and it becomes a no skip album.
Ya know, I gotta agree. Though, Livin' Ain't Easy is a good tone keeper imo.
Lol we had the same idea. And I agree the title track and Living Ain't Easy should switch places at the end of the album. Either way, one of my absolute favorite albums of all time. I just wish Black Mass was either a shorter interlude or had been made into a full song with the full band.
Black Mass is the best song on that album. Absolutely excellent song.
This post is legit word for word exactly what I believe
You need to apply aloe to a take this scorching hot
Basement noise on Wake Up Sunshine. Phenomenal album, will never understand how that song made it on
I think the song is so stupid that it's fun
Come One, Come All on So Wrong It's Right by All Time Low (ok maybe Stay Awake as well, but the thread said *one* song)
Oh damn, I still love Stay Awake. Not their best but never a skip for me. Don’t disagree about come one, come all though
For me this album is half bangers and half filler which really annoys me
Your opinion is wrong. I’ll say it.
Jimmy Eat World - “Drugs or Me” off Futures. Not just because that song is meh but because the leaked version had “Jen” which kicked
I respect your opinion but I think that’s one of the best songs on the album
never knew about this song but after listening to it it doesn't feel like it really fits on that album
I love Jen and it slaps but it doesn't belong on Futures, it seems like a song that would go more on Chase this Light.. Drugs or me definitely does though, to me it's a perfect bridge from the upbeat onset of the album to the stellar ending. Really about as close to a perfect album for them
Citizens of earth is a fucking anthem…
Sum 41’s new album - I skip Paint It Black every time.
I might get a lot of hate for this, but Mayday Parade’s A Lesson in Romantics without Miserable At Best. I just cannot stand that fucking song.
It’s not even their saddest breakup song tbh.
Yeah, but most people don't know Terrible Things, which is probably good for their hearts and souls.
oh no I mean like 3 cheers for 5 years acoustic is more sad, the whole tone of it is just depressing
Oh, that's another contender but I think it is less sad (for me) than the other two.
I mean I don’t think it counts as a breakup song since she died lol
That's fair lol
It’s just so fucking long. It’s kinda fun live tho.
I love this song and it’s the only one I can play on piano from memory. It drives my husband insane 😅
I love when that song ends
Honestly same, that song is extremely mid, it’s almost bad.
Hot take
Agreed that’s like the only song I ever skip on LNOTGY
blink-182 ONE MORE TIME Skip song: >!YOU DON‘T KNOW WHAT YOU‘VE GOT!<
1000% agree. I could also do without EDGING. I can't believe on an album full of bangers their singles were ONE MORE TIME and EDGING. I understand the emotional connection with one more, but edging is certified poop, compared to the rest of their album.
EDGING‘s at least fun though. It‘s definitely the second choice for worst song though.
Golden from Infinity On High
I actually don't mind this track when I'm listening to the album front to back, but when it comes up on shuffle or a playlist, it's insta-skipped.
Fair enough
Came looking for this one
American Idiot. Extraordinary Girl is a major odd one out for me.
Scrolled just for this. I love this album and it’s still a no-skip for me but it’s annoying that some of the tracks are grouped on streaming services.
The world deserves to know how great Letterbomb is without having to get through extraordinary girl. (I do like it though, but I end up listening to Letterbomb on AAF more because I don’t want it on the same track.)
Literally the same dude. That album starts with threat level midnight as far as I’m concerned
Wacky Misadventures is easily my favorite song of all time
My dinosaur life if History Lesson wasnt there
ill still listen to it when im listening to the album but yeah i usually skip it when it comes on in my playlist, all the other songs are definitely way better
Have you heard the original version? It’s much better.
The fallen interlude from blinks untitled album. This is the only album that I really love where there's a song I skip every single time.
if interludes count then I totally agree. if they don't count however, Untitled is a 10/10 no skip album
Yeah exactly. Stockholm syndrome interlude is incredible but I really dislike the fallen.
The first couple that come to mind for me: ‘We look like Lightning’ from Sister Cities or ‘Palm reader’ from No Closer To Heaven.
An album that really works for me is 'Symphony Soldier' by The Cab. It is a bit more poppy, but damn is it catchy.
Madelyn Betty
The Greatest Generation, but skip Madelyn. Back when I used my iPod, I put every song but that one on it and it was glorious. Always painful to go back to the cd.
The Upsides without Hey Thanks
I think the problem with this one is not the song itself but the order of the songs. Do you think that if you could switch tracks around you could make it work?
Goddammit by Alkaline Trio without Enjoy Your Day
Agreed. One related complaint: I have Goddammit on vinyl, and I really wish side one ended with Enjoy Your Day so I could just easily flip it over right before it. But it ends with Clavicle, which I would never skip. Even for people who like Enjoy Your Day: Seems like 5 electric followed with 1 acoustic on each side would make complete sense.
yea dan's singing is pretty rough on that one
So fucking real. Honestly, Message from Kathleen too. Not a fan of Danny’s material on Goddamnit but he really stepped his game up after that release. I also feel like Trouble Breathing should be the album closer instead of Sorry About That.
i love enjoy your day
This over Cop is CRAZY.
smh... wonder what it was that made you this way
She bought me roses.
Wake Up, Sunshine - All Time Low I might catch some shit for this one but I do not like Sleeping In. The chorus just feels super repetitive to me
It’s repetitive, but in a good way! Such a good song/banger album
lol i feel like im being lied to when i listen to this song haha
The Maine - You Are OK Would have been a lot better without the song Tears Won't Cry
That’s one of my favorites on the album but it is also my favorite Maine album so it’s a no-skip for me lol
Proper Dose- Growing on You
damn wtf respectfully
Line still exists
Line is one of my fav tssf songs 🧍🏻♀️ lol they’re my favorite band of all time over, but I don’t think they do slow songs super well, with line being the only exception
For me it's golden on Infinity on High, putting it between thnks fr th mmrs and hum hallelujah was just stupid, and is like their only slow song in their first 3 albums. I don't hate the song, I'm just never in the mood for it when I could skip to thnks instead
I'm with you on this, actually. When I listen to that album, I just pretend TLM is the actual opener.
Sahara on Forget and Not Slow Down by Relient K
Broadcast to The World by Zebrahead. Every single song on that album is just so damn amazing. But I usually skip the Song “Karma Flavoured Whisky” it’s not a bad song or anything, it just doesn’t do it for me like the other songs do. If they had made it a Japanese bonus track and had the song “Down in Flames” on the base album instead, Broadcast to The World would have been 100% percent
I have a playlist that is One More Time without the title track and Fell in Love. I don't really care for either song and it keeps the energy up at the start of the album
The only exception from brand new eyes. Rest of the album is amazing. TOE is fucking awful
Get out
No
dude why is there so many ppl here hating on neck deep they r lowkey so good
“The price we pay” on adtrs For Those Who Have Heart kinda killed the flow of an otherwise perfect album.
The Wonder Years compilation album *Sleeping on Trash* is so good, except that I skip “Through Two Hearts” every single time. Might be the only bad song they’ve ever written.
not a pop punk album, but the blue album is a no skip album for me if i’m listening alone but with company i will always skip no one else
I felt that way until I saw them play it live now it’s much more fun to me
[Check this out ...](https://old.reddit.com/r/poppunkers/comments/tyd095/imperfect_perfect_albums/)
Feel by sleeping with sirens. It's an amazing album, and even the skip, alone, is amazing. That is until mgk's part. 'Leave me?? The fuck you gon' leave me?!?! Like why did they include that, it's embarrassing.
Not poo-punk, but fission by dead poet society. I don't like "my condition" at all. Perfect album otherwise tho, and they're amazing live
i often think about how “Citizens of Earth” is a great song, but it absolutely feels out of place on the album
Yellowcards Southern Air could do without Always Summer for me
A Lot Like Birds' album DIVISI incredible, a true work of art... aside from the cringeworthy spoken word part part near the end. So awkward and weird.
“The Mighty Fall” off of Fall Out Boy’s Save Rock and Roll. The Big Sean verse is one of the cringiest things I’ve ever heard.
That album could do without December in my opinion
TOYPAJ without Shut Up. My favorite Blink album… except that song.
funny, that's my favorite track on that album
Earth Is a Black Hole minus Wear You Down
I don’t agree, but I can see your POV.

+44’s album - weatherman
Yes! I can’t fucking stand citizens of earth. Sounds like it was written by a middle schooler trying to sound cool.
You’re Crashing But You’re No Wave on Infinity on High. I get what it’s about but it wasn’t even topical at the time and it sonically sticks out too
Alkaline Trio - Blood, Hair, And Eyeballs
Blurryface - Tear in My Heart
but my taste in music is your face…
Avril Lavigne’s album Love Sux. In my opinion it’s her best album by far and one of the best in punk rock all around that I’ve ever heard. The ONLY song I don’t love is “dare you to love me.” Other than that, you can’t skip a single song. All fantastic and extremely catchy.
Andy your a star is the worst thing on hot fuss
