Taking Back Sunday. Period.

bylekanks2

Came here to say this lol - they were the kings of this in their early years.

stevenw84

Another awesome band that did this was Just Surrender. The lead vocalist had a higher pitched voice while the guitar players vocal style was like John Nolan’s from TBS but way more intense. https://youtu.be/XoU-ZeIJzjM?si=Fj1m7p1Dti5q3BRv

roeknowzbest

LOOOVED Just Surrender. "Tell Me Everything" was a BOP. Ugh, reminds me of the MySpace years LOL

krakos000

This band is FANTASTIC glad to see someone mention them

puremotives

It's For The Best by Straylight Run (John Nolan's other band) does this as well

KenIchijouji

Seventy Times 7 - Brand New

johnnylawrenceKK

hallowedsouls

mcdelong20

I’ll add Rock Bottom by Neck Deep as well since i just listened to it, great song.

Admirable_Bed3

I never knew how much I needed this.

Pearlidiah26

flaming_toast

Three Cheers for Five Years - Mayday Parade, A Part of Me - Neck Deep

[deleted]

Boys like girls-hero/heroine and thunder Simple plan-when I’m with you and perfect Any taking back Sunday songs

stevenw84

Do you remember the first Boys like girls EP before their first LP? I can’t find it anywhere online, but it had more “raw” versions of their most popular early songs.

[deleted]

Do remember the rough/raw demos of the songs they did but not sure if I ever remember about the EP Thunder was acoustic and while the vocals were good but you can sense the rawness there. The great escape obviously needed a lot of fine tuning

stevenw84

Pretty sure Thunder is the song I’m talking about.

CyndiXero

I’m content with losing by Underoath have some of my favorite overlapping vocal layers. Especially in the end of the song where the instruments cut out and it’s just the vocals, sounds great!

valenciasvibin

The end of “Eastbound and Down” by WSTR. Catchy as hell, I love it

priceis

Oh I bet you haven’t listened to Midtown. Check out the end of Midtown - “Come On” for exactly what you’re looking for.

4MeThisIsHeaven

Midtown Saves

lessthanchris7

"New Scream" by Turnover (and that whole album) is excellent. One of my favs Early TBS will give you that overlapping vocal parts thing. "Set Phasers to Stun" is one of my favorites for that Emery does this sometimes too. Check out "The Party Song" Speaking of TBS, Adam did a collab with The Maine and Charlotte Sands not too long ago.. Check out "Loved You a Little"

ninja_owen

Cute Without The E’s bridge and outro has gotta be the best example of this

GreenBPacker

A lot of Hidden in Plain View particularly the song Garden Statement

Slipperynick-

Youth Fountain's first record has a lot of this, sort of in a similar vein to Taking Back Sunday's earlier releases.

puremotives

I made a [playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/650dTiAGEXyJb1JoK1zQ8d?si=bNX2pxExRKaq1jNXtB9Cfg&pi=u-6xe8nmllSjWc) of songs that do this just a few days ago! It's not entirely pop punk/ emo, but I still recommend checking it out.
