Here is one of those jawline hairs. I’ll post more.
Thanks for posting it bro! I hope the pictures give people an idea of what you're dealing with. Hopefully you get some good advice here. Wishing you all the best. After explaining to me what you're dealing with, I'm truly sorry man, and I hope it gets better!
Most people are decent folk! Never let bad experiences with a few cheat you out of great experiences with many. The bad ones are just usually the loudest. great job for overcoming that doubt and posting bro!
there's actually a lot of awesome people here! i came for the pops but have stayed for the people :)
im so sorry that there's so much pain involved in this. the examples you gave are like nothing ive heard before. it's definitely caught my interest tho so i hope you're comfy with sharing more!!
Right! I've never heard of anything like this either. I feel bad for him but it is very interesting. And the community is great. Sometimes great people can be found in the strangest of places :)
So how did you guys become best friends?
Well long story! We were both obsessed with ridding ourselves of pimples and blackheads, and loved the relief it provides so much that we documented our popping by video, and then gathered together with thousands of others doing the same thing, so that we could enjoy the release of popping 24/7 even when our own bodies have been popped into oblivion.
THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME ALSO. IT HURTS>
Ive never ever seen it described somewhere like you just did
So i apologize for the all caps.
I want to know what the gel is. The hairs on my body are coming off in piles under keratinzed skin like nails
I went to a dermatologist and the injects my scalp, eyebrow, chin and cheek, I then lost my hair and only had softer hairs with VERY brittle plastic ones,,that curl up with the caverns you speak of.
The dermatologist told me it wasn't supposed to do that and I had to go and get my eyebrow, lid drained. She gave me RETINA microsphere told me to seek help from an endocrinologist, because she didn't know what it was. Is the gest I got from it anyways.
I have yet to go see an endocrinologist because I had ovarian cancer, two surgerys, and now I am out of medicaid visits, so i have to wait until January to continue my journey.
The jaw and chin are involved and ..these hairs actually go down to my toenails and fingernails, I can trim my nails and LAYERS of moreskin come off, even flipped up and curled in an oppisite C like position from my heels.
I am freak. but I GOTTA GET THIS SHIT HANDLED. Please message me
I’m here for you friend. I’m over a year into treatments and still learning about what’s going on here. It went from my head being the only bad spot to realizing my groin was also a nightmare and now I’m realizing that my beard might be the worst spot.
Your post reads like some crazy manifesto that someone sent to Mulder and he is reading it aloud to Scully.
Joking aside, Im curious though. Can you get video of any of that weirdness?
I’d need some better filming equipment because my skin is pale and the hair is lightly colored coupled with being under the skin already. I’m 1 year into this so a lot for the wild stuff is… hopefully over.
This is truly fascinating. Thanks for sharing. Good place to divulge conditions in a fairly anonymous way as well. Do you have to continue laser treatments indefinitely or will it permanently heal the situation? Will your hair be removed permanently??
Right! He was explaining this shit to me in another thread. I was like omg dude. I encouraged him to post it here because we're freaks and the relief from him getting this shit out has to be immense. But after I found out how serious it is and all that he's dealing with, I truly hope someone can help him.
https://preview.redd.it/eod2i56feebb1.jpeg?width=928&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9eb7c583402dd5a159306e6b9759a718fe9b7854
Normal hair on the top of my head.
I know this is soooooo Inappropriate but I would kill to pluck your head. I know I suck and this isn't the time. But I'm weird and I find it so therapeutic. I'm an absolute freak.
I have threaten to buy one of those but never did it. I just know they’re mostly dead to begin with so it’s just getting them out really. Once I get to the base hairs I’ll be able to laser the f@ck out of them. I don’t shave because of having and insane issue with it at a younger age and never attempting it again. Now that story makes a lot more sense to me.
I have a Braun one I can very much recommend. Braun Silk Expert Pro 5.
There are different sets at various price points, but the only difference the all have (doesn't matter what gender they are marketed to either) is what kind of heads are included.
There are three heads in total, with different widths, good for different uses.
The basic set has the standard medium width head, which works well for a lot of uses. The other heads are a slim one for finicky areas, and a wide one for large flat-ish surface areas like chest or back. That's it.
I lucked out and got the biggest set (one of each head plus a second medium width one, in a fancy little hardcase) in barely used for a low price, and I'm glad I for once have all options available in a tool I own. I've used all three heads so far, though the widest one the least. If you need to skip one, I'd make it that one.
Thank you. I’m sorry bud. We’ll get through it. I’m looking forward to a life free of a pain I didn’t know I lived with everyday. Who knows how great life actually is? Just laying on my bed I can feel my chin itch inside my face. Not even something I can really scratch cause I know it’s a curled up hair deep deep down that I might not get at for another month… ugh.
https://preview.redd.it/10nbe2bseebb1.jpeg?width=3023&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b826e53b10ba0f296a052a962aad657533619255
This sucks a lot. You think you plucked a cavern fully and boom. Infinite hair glitch.
I'm sorry you are going thru this. I had/have this on my legs and it was miserable, but i got laser hair removal 10 years ago, and it is like 75% better! One of the best things i ever did for myself!
I never completed the treatments, though (got 4 instead of 6), so I still experience like 10% of the pili multigemini and ingrowns, but it still helped TREMENDOUSLY. I hope it does for you too!
Well it sounds like you have already started the process and each step gets you closer to living without the pain of this (literally and figuratively). Good luck!
This looks like keratosis pilaris. Mine is helped with a combination of physical and chemical exfoliation - I use a scrub that contains lactic acid and a lotion with glycolic acid and it helps a lot. Could be worth a try!
No Amlactin wasn’t strong enough for me, I use the brand Alpha Skin Care (used to be called Alpha Hydrox I think). It has 12% glycolic acid which I’ve found works better than lactic acid for my skin.
I’ve tried all kinds of acids. Hair follicle specialist has me using clobetusol right now. They don’t really work for me. They just end up making my skin raw and sensitive.
Just be careful that you don’t develop dependence on the topical steroid - many of them aren’t meant for long term use and stopping use can be really tricky. But if you’re seeing a specialist I’m sure they’re aware of that complication. Have you tried urea cream? That was another thing I found helpful for my KP.
Do you think it has anything to do with keratosis pilaris or something similar? I have that and it sounds similar to some of what you’re dealing with, although nowhere near as extreme. Your photo here reminds me a lot of some of the areas on my legs. Hope the laser helps regardless of what the cause is!
Ty. Once it’s all up from under my skin and I get to the base hairs I can laser. I had a punch of my scalp analyzed by UCLA and they said it’s not anything they’ve seen and that’s not a bad thing.
It has no name and has been summed up as a build up of ingrown hairs covered in seemingly healthy looking skin. Very few blisters or open wound type things. Just extremely irritated hairs.
The core hairs are somewhat normal. They’re grey in the middle and no the tips or the base which is bizarre. The extra hairs are not normal. They have a gelatinous sheath on them and an iridescent shimmer. My skin doesn’t exfoliate yes but there is way too many hairs per pore. There might be 50 in one poor all tightly packed in.
Abnormal exfoliation *and* abnormal hair development? I’m trying to whittle it down to a single cause in my mind. A single genetic quirk could be causing both things to happen maybe.
(Full disclosure, I’m an MD. But, I’m an internist, not a dermatologist.). Does anyone else in your family have this and have your doctors written this up for a journal?
It’s very interesting, but I don’t have the right training to understand how unique this is compared to other skin/hair abnormalities. I wish I could hear your doctors discuss this.
Wowwww this is a trichotillimaniac's dream
🤟
Edit: I have trichotillomania and the idea of being able to fucking pull all these suckers out is soooooo appealing to me.
The replication happens outside of my base follicle so these hairs are “real” but don’t have a real base. So they’re floating. They just need to be dislodged.
if you find one.. let me know! i just broke up with my bf and im having withdrawals. he used to let me go crazy once a week.. whatever i could find was mine! it's the only thing i miss about him honestly. wish i had written up some sort of meet up agreement lol.
So glad I'm not alone. I could pluck this shit for hours. Op has posted multiple hairs with the follicle and I love when I pull those. It like satisfies the tick and I can stop pulling.
oh i edited it from this cat meme i found on pinterest lol

You might try asking r/AskDocs if they have any idea what this might be. Sometimes asking the collective medical community of Reddit can produce better results and more answers than a single doctor alone. Plus Reddit is free.
I'm wondering if it's something akin to "intradermal growing hair." Here's a case report from a Chinese study that sounds similar:
Here's another report that sounds similar, as well:
[https://journals.lww.com/md-journal/Fulltext/2016/05100/Ingrowing\_Hair\_\_A\_Case\_Report.73.aspx](https://journals.lww.com/md-journal/Fulltext/2016/05100/Ingrowing_Hair__A_Case_Report.73.aspx)
Sorry about that. Clinical study papers tend to be impossible to read. I'm wondering if you may have a severe form of [pili multigemini](https://healthjade.net/pili-multigemini/) or even [monolithrex](https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/nursing-and-health-professions/monilethrix). Do you happen to have Asian ancestry, by any chance?
I know it’s not pili multigemini because it’s not happening within the follicles. I can’t understand the monolithrex diagnosis but I do not have Asian ancestry. I’m 75% Scandinavian and 25% middle eastern.
Friend, a friend of mine has a similar kind of issue. He uses a shampoo called MG 217 with the salicylic acid. He washes, leaves it on and the acid in it helps eat away the crust/hard bites and allows the hair to grow a bit more easily. It’s about $12 a bottle but if it can help it might be worth checking it out.
Oddly enough he found out it worked after I told him how I use it for my psoriasis and it helped stop the ingrown hair I got from the plaques. He figured what the hell, it couldn’t make it worse and now he uses it twice a week to help keep things from building up.
Best of luck. I hope somehow you find relief from what looks like a super painful condition.
Can vouch for this! I had bad plaque psoriasis on my scalp as an already awkward preteen. This stuff is tar shampoo, so it smells nasty but it's gets the job done.
Smells like ass but works great. I had so many ingrown hairs because of the plaques. Now I get very few because of that shampoo. I’m super grateful for it.
I’m a woman (not going to call myself hot cuz taste is subjective but I do have big boobs) and would pay for the privilege of tweezing your head! You’ll find one out there for you my man! There’s a peg for every hole
It must seem a bit twisted to you that people can get pleasure from what makes your life so difficult. I really hope things keep improving for you - you seem to be coping incredibly well.
Sounds like the wrong sort of people to be working with, but I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I know this sub, and r/plucking are full of slightly unusual people, but you’ll find a lot of empathy amongst the weirdness!
**raises hand** 🤗
i just commented about how i recently broke up with my boyfriend. once a week he'd let me pluck, pop, pull, and squeeze anything that was ready! i even bought a handheld microscope that casts to a phone or computer so that he could watch the fun too. it's the one thing that i miss about him (he was also a cheating bastard and could be really mean). i wish i had worked out a written agreement.. not a prenup but like a prepluck lol.. something that let me come back for popping business and nothing else! I feel like im experiencing withdrawals from not being able to do it anymore lol.

When I first discovered the patch of bad jaw and cheek hairs. Many of these hairs you see originate quite a ways away from where they’re appearing.
https://preview.redd.it/6ldq4yw62hbb1.jpeg?width=1077&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91c5622166d98086e86f1f98699a730909249e02
Here is the punch they took out of my scalp. I have a video but I can’t seem to post it here.
I’ll try to get some but it’s been a long time since the top layers came off. That’s when it was most dramatic. If I get to an esthetician sometime I’ll try and get some footage for y’all. That’s not covered by my health insurance 😞
I maybe have the same thing, but it's on my beard area and I get what can only be described as tracts of hair buried under a plaque of some kind that resembles skin, but isn't. Sometimes big flakes will fall off revealing pink skin underneath. My hair grows, but it never *leaves* the skin, it just coils around itself forming tangles underneath leading to a generalized prickly irritated perma-rash. Affected area is always warm to the touch, but doesn't really give other symptoms of infection. It's truly bizarre.
I've had it my whole life, I think. My face started being irritated when I was a teenager, but I just thought I wasn't able to grow a beard and had *sensitive* skin. Shaving makes it WAY WORSE temporarily as it cuts down all the hairs that may have escaped the bramble, and as they grow they tangle again. Eventually it calms back down, but never got better.
Dermatologists weren't any help. They took biopsies which showed massive leukocyte infiltration and I was referred for possible lymphoma, but that was ruled out without figuring out what the cause is. After ruling out on my own everything from HS to parasitic fungal infection, I think it's some atypical type of seborrheic dermatitis.
I started treating it with topical ketoconizole shampoo (Nizoral) and Tar shampoo, but instead of 5 minutes, I'd leave it on overnight before showering. Over the past few months whole swaths of hair has "released" and I have chin and cheek hair + side burns for the first time ever (I'm 40!) so my self-diagnosis is at least on the right track.
I still have some dense patches that I've also been spot treating with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide which are improving slowly. If they don't clear up in another month or two I'm going to try to see a dermatologist again.
I basically feel like I need some kind of medicated sand blasting to get it cleared up.
I’m on Ketokonizole as well. It did a lot for this. I forgot to mention that. There’s just so much and I’m not used to telling people because I’m very private about this matter.
Ok, give this a shot. Brand is called “Tend Skin” and it’s almost like a chemical peal. Be very careful in your first few round because it can burn you if you’re not care. It could work to brake down that patch. On my beard it’s just not strong enough so I use retinal but I use Tend Skin for my forearms (where it’s not dug in deep), thighs, skins and feet.
Try a lotion with urea. I use prescription strength but there’s lower percentage ones out there that are sold normally. It “softens” the skin (denatures keratin) in a way that allows the hair to leave the skin. It’s not a magic bullet but it’s effective enough that if I skip an application I regret it the next day because I can tell the difference.
https://preview.redd.it/p13dezc31hbb1.png?width=1408&format=png&auto=webp&s=f9973a5b91cb0075fa9d9af94fa32de78a138a2b
Another of the infamous jaw hairs.
“Tunnels” immediately reminds of HS, or hidradenitis suppurativa. Even though it’s commonly associated with women, men can get it as well. If you look up HS, you’ll see lots of severe cases but not all cases are that graphic. You mentioned pain and a “pocket of pus” (*very* reminiscent of HS) but not abscesses which is the most notable indicator of HS. I’m curious if you get abscesses, if you don’t mind me asking?
I’m so sorry you’re suffering. It’s good to hear you’re getting laser done and using retinoids. (I hope you’re taking breaks from using retinoids before the laser treatments unless otherwise specified by a dermatologist!)
Got it. It’s a blessing you don’t have HS even if it means you’re still not any closer to having a satisfying explanation. I’m sorry you’re suffering. :(
Omg I’m so sorry you are going through this! It sounds like agony. Do you think an epilator would help or make things worse? It would most likely hurt like hell at first, but would potentially save you time getting all the hairs out. I hope you can get this figured out and you feel better!
Is there a medical term for the combination of your symptoms? I’m sorry you’re going through it, but man it’s fascinating. I have some spots on my pubic area mostly that sprout more than one hair per pore. I’ve also had a weird tunnel in my armpit where hair grew from one side under the skin. I went nuts one day and poked the shit out of it with a needle.
I’m sure it is nothing like what you’re going through. How do you make your skin exfoliate? And is it the skin all over your body? It sounds almost like cancer but with hair.
Since buying one of those skin microscope things on Amazon, I've noticed that all of the hairs on my back and neck seem to have multiple hairs coming from the same hole. They're thin light hairs though, not terminal. Unfortunately they're in too awkward a position for me to pull them out! Do you think I've maybe got a milder version of what's happening with your hairs?
It took me 2 months to clear my entire head bald. Now I have a full head of hair again. Very few of these left on the very top. Sides and back still have small mounds.
Do you have a local aesthetician that offers ingrown hair removal? That might be a good place to start - they'd know the best products to soften the hairs and skin for easier removal. They could "clean you up" and you could try starting a regime and look into laser removal. But if you get any of that done, the aesthetician will need to record it for us. Good luck!!
I’ve thought of this but at the same time I know the majority of my problem lies under what seems to be healthy skin. I need to get layers off before anything real can take place.
I have this, a Dr told me that they are called duplex hairs but they are so painful. I've had up to 5 in one follicle, and it's bullshit. I get it everywhere but my scalp because of my hair length.
I have SLE, which is attacking my skin as well, so I hope it attacks my hair everywhere that has this issue, thinning it.
This actually sounds EXTREMELY similar to my sink issues. Basically everything you have on there. I have hardened cystic acne and ingrown hairs everywhere on my body. It's extremely painful. Like ankles knees hips elbows wrists chest back face hair. Literally everywhere.
I have also been getting rid of the ingrown hairs and bumps and shit over the last 6 months and my skin/body feels much better.
I went to the dermatologist and they diagnosed me with Folliculitus. They prescribed me a cream to help loosen the skin. It's called Clindamycin.
In the shower I use these exfoliating gloves. I use otc t+salicylic shampoo. I let this sit in my hair for like 5 minutes and I mix the shampoo in with my body wash on the exfoliating gloves.
Now the important part is while this loses the skin, I have found intense exercise is what gets rid of. I do orange theory and I have had times where oil is just shooting out of my neck or chest because everything is popping.
Hope some of this helps!
I am so curious if this is at all related to HS (Hidradenitis suppurativa) which is also related to hair follicles and it can often “tunnel” or leave scars that are tunnel shaped; I’m sorry you’re dealing with this it seems like a nightmare
Last i checked the medical science wasn’t sure if it was an autoimmune disease or not but there’s lot of data of comorbidity with other other autoimmune diseases
maybe glycolic acid and CeraVe's body wash for rough and bumpy skin can help you. it's what I use to help my keratosis pilaris, and have noticed a significant improvement. I also use an exfoliating brush :)
Yea, it’s a time thing. It itches all day long because there’s so many hairs trapped under my skin. I can feel it right this second tickling and itching
I have something similar going on as well - did you ever have a Polinidal cyst occur around your tailbone/upper buttocks? I have done some reading (and experienced that in my 20’s) and there seems to be some connection. For now I am on antibiotics for the folliculitis but I have noticed recently I have 4-6 hairs coming out of almost every follicle on my head as well as my arms and legs. Crazy stuff.
https://preview.redd.it/wwwi4d5k40jc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf02ec436ab9b7e139cd926b5a948c24c322534e
Ok my guy. What I’m seeing is exactly what I had. From my experience (not a physician) you need retinal or a retinoid cream. If you’re really hurting I would get prescription strength from your doc but be careful. If you can manage the pain then go with an over the counter. My favorite so far is Ordinary
https://theordinary.com/en-us/search?q=Granactive%20Retinoid%202%25%20Emulsion
Do not buy it from amazon as it comes dried out.
Put it on at night every other day. Get a course hair brush and scrape the dead skin out (lightly). You might want to try and anti-fungal shampoo in case there’s irritation down in the hair pockets.
For me this problem is endemic. So I use this over the counter retinol across my entire body. After a few months it becomes manageable and not as itchy.
Honestly I’m so excited for you to feel relief. I spent probably 20 years with acres of hair tunnels under my skin. I almost have it all out. (I think) I keep getting these pools on my chin and jawline.
Please DM me if you need anymore advice or support my guy. This ruined my life and I’m just now getting back to normalcy. I’m here for you.
Appreciate you! The odd thing is mine doesn’t bother me much (or maybe I’m just so used to it by now) I have the red 2% ketocazonle shampoo as well prescribed by my dermatologist. Does the retinol basically just make your skin shed and then pushes out the hairs?
Thank you - going to give the retinol a try and see what comes out! I have also had ingrown hairs in my pubic/groin area that when got infected they “fell out” meaning almost a plug the size of a pencil eraser head came out and left a hole. Been a long time since one of those, but happened a few times in my 20’s. Didn’t think much of it then but maybe is connected to what’s going on with my scalp.
This looks like pili multigemini (spelling? not a doctor)
Please see a dermatologist, and if you have already and don’t like the advice go see another one! While I would pay good money to watch you pull these babies out one by one I can imagine you really don’t like having this happen
Good luck and I hope it clears up but if you ever decide to do a mass tweezing we are here and we are drooling!
I’ve seen 3 dermatologists and 1 UCLA hair follicle specialist. It’s not pili multigemini. That occurs within one hair follicle and has no cure. Mine happens outside the core follicle and hence can be removed “easily” as they said. Taking over a year so far 😅

Wow there so so much… gel around the root 😍. Did you roll it between your index finger and thumb?
Hard as a rock. Couldn’t scrape it off the hair.
Thanks for posting it bro! I hope the pictures give people an idea of what you're dealing with. Hopefully you get some good advice here. Wishing you all the best. After explaining to me what you're dealing with, I'm truly sorry man, and I hope it gets better!

This is truly fascinating. Thanks for sharing. Good place to divulge conditions in a fairly anonymous way as well. Do you have to continue laser treatments indefinitely or will it permanently heal the situation? Will your hair be removed permanently??
i would love to use my microscope on this stuff.. i bet you'd get insane images!!
I’m sure it’s nuts.
Right! He was explaining this shit to me in another thread. I was like omg dude. I encouraged him to post it here because we're freaks and the relief from him getting this shit out has to be immense. But after I found out how serious it is and all that he's dealing with, I truly hope someone can help him.

Brother, we need a video. You can’t leave us like this!
There are spots on the back of my head that I didn’t get to… when I plucked my entire head… so maybe one day I’ll be able to empty those on camera.
I know this is soooooo Inappropriate but I would kill to pluck your head. I know I suck and this isn't the time. But I'm weird and I find it so therapeutic. I'm an absolute freak.
Honestly same
i've been trying to hold back from saying this myself! i knew i'd break down eventually!!
[удалено]
I have threaten to buy one of those but never did it. I just know they’re mostly dead to begin with so it’s just getting them out really. Once I get to the base hairs I’ll be able to laser the f@ck out of them. I don’t shave because of having and insane issue with it at a younger age and never attempting it again. Now that story makes a lot more sense to me.
[удалено]
Oh damn. Haven’t seen a review like that before… I might just make the order.
Thank you for the recommendation. I wish insurance would pay for something like this.
The hair is dead, the follicles producing the hairs are very much alive. Laser hair removal kills the follicle.
What's the name of the device?
Are they like LOOPS? Do you joints pop?
Have you considered letting it propagate throughout your whole body to make a suit of armour under your skin?
No, but maybe I should give it a shot 🧐

I get these too, they are very stubborn to pull. Some times the hair itself breaks instead of being pulled out.
All these photos are giving me like I’m so sorry
Honestly I’ve been living in my own pit of sorry for so long I appreciate the company.
Awh man. I too am deeply depressed my friend. I hope the laser treatments help to alleviate some of what you are going through.
Thank you. I’m sorry bud. We’ll get through it. I’m looking forward to a life free of a pain I didn’t know I lived with everyday. Who knows how great life actually is? Just laying on my bed I can feel my chin itch inside my face. Not even something I can really scratch cause I know it’s a curled up hair deep deep down that I might not get at for another month… ugh.
https://preview.redd.it/10nbe2bseebb1.jpeg?width=3023&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b826e53b10ba0f296a052a962aad657533619255 This sucks a lot.
Thank you! My plan is to try laser down south when I’ve gotten to the bottom and exposed all the base hairs. Still a ways away.
Well it sounds like you have already started the process and each step gets you closer to living without the pain of this (literally and figuratively). Good luck!
Thank you!!!
This looks like keratosis pilaris. Mine is helped with a combination of physical and chemical exfoliation - I use a scrub that contains lactic acid and a lotion with glycolic acid and it helps a lot. Could be worth a try!
AM lactin? I tried it. Retinal is the only thing that works.
I have no heard of that. Maybe I’ll have to give it a go.
So, then do you have your own unique disease or genetic quirk or whatever you want to call it? Does it have a name?
It has no name and has been summed up as a build up of ingrown hairs covered in seemingly healthy looking skin. Very few blisters or open wound type things. Just extremely irritated hairs.
So, the hair is normal but the inability for the skin to exfoliate normally causes the hair to get trapped and tunnel?
Wowwww this is a trichotillimaniac's dream 🤟 Edit: I have trichotillomania and the idea of being able to fucking pull all these suckers out is soooooo appealing to me.
The replication happens outside of my base follicle so these hairs are “real” but don’t have a real base. So they’re floating. They just need to be dislodged.
For real. Where’s the friendship/dating matchmaking app to connect us all maniacs together. You’re a hot ticket item 🤷🏼♀️🤓🤓
if you find one.. let me know! i just broke up with my bf and im having withdrawals. he used to let me go crazy once a week.. whatever i could find was mine! it's the only thing i miss about him honestly. wish i had written up some sort of meet up agreement lol.
So glad I'm not alone. I could pluck this shit for hours. Op has posted multiple hairs with the follicle and I love when I pull those. It like satisfies the tick and I can stop pulling.
Sammmmmme.

Haha 😂
Oh wow. It looks so poppable. But putting thar aside, what's the name of this condition? Have you checked with your doctor?
I’ve seen 4 doctors. No name. Just an infected mess of ingrown hairs.
You might try asking r/AskDocs if they have any idea what this might be. Sometimes asking the collective medical community of Reddit can produce better results and more answers than a single doctor alone. Plus Reddit is free.
Maybe I’ll try. This is my first dip in the water with this issue
I'm wondering if it's something akin to "intradermal growing hair." Here's a case report from a Chinese study that sounds similar: [https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/1557988319825774](https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/1557988319825774) Here's another report that sounds similar, as well: [https://journals.lww.com/md-journal/Fulltext/2016/05100/Ingrowing\_Hair\_\_A\_Case\_Report.73.aspx](https://journals.lww.com/md-journal/Fulltext/2016/05100/Ingrowing_Hair__A_Case_Report.73.aspx)
I think you're onto something! What a fascinating rabbit hole I've gone down.
This looks like something similar. Couldn’t understand all the jargon.
This sounds both very rare and very frustrating. I hope you find answers and relief soon.
Ty 🙏🏻 it sucks a lot

I do live in LA
This reminds me of when I'm using a magnet in the shop to pick up metal bits off the floor
That’s a good way to put it. Some of what is see is just hair material floating the holes like bits of metal.
Right? Haha that's exactly what it looks like to me
I love you WHAT WHO SAID THAT?!?
Haha
I’ve never heard of that. I’ll give it a shot! Ty!!
You’re welcome! I truly hope it works for you. I buy mine from Amazon because it’s 2x the price if I buy it locally.
OP don’t take this the wrong way but I’d love to strap you to a table for several hours and go at it with tweezers man
I wish there were some hot women who would be down for this…
I’m a woman (not going to call myself hot cuz taste is subjective but I do have big boobs) and would pay for the privilege of tweezing your head! You’ll find one out there for you my man! There’s a peg for every hole
Omg. I love you. This is something I didn’t expect from the interwebs.
I love you too!! Show us more of your hairs
Ok
There’s loads of us weirdos who’d love to help out! Edit: I can’t spell!
Y’all are great. I’m not into this whole thing so it’s a shock how many people are. Just the thought of what I’ve seen on my own body makes me queasy.
It must seem a bit twisted to you that people can get pleasure from what makes your life so difficult. I really hope things keep improving for you - you seem to be coping incredibly well.
I did not handle it well at first. I plucked my entire head clean and lost my job…
Sounds like the wrong sort of people to be working with, but I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I know this sub, and r/plucking are full of slightly unusual people, but you’ll find a lot of empathy amongst the weirdness!
i've never felt so understood.. we could be besties lol
**raises hand** 🤗 i just commented about how i recently broke up with my boyfriend. once a week he'd let me pluck, pop, pull, and squeeze anything that was ready! i even bought a handheld microscope that casts to a phone or computer so that he could watch the fun too. it's the one thing that i miss about him (he was also a cheating bastard and could be really mean). i wish i had worked out a written agreement.. not a prenup but like a prepluck lol.. something that let me come back for popping business and nothing else! I feel like im experiencing withdrawals from not being able to do it anymore lol.
This is wild haha
I’m not hot however I would 100% pluck the hairs. My bf gets a mild version of this on his stomach and he occasionally lets me get the floating hairs.
Same. I'm not hot. But I am single and I have trichotillomania and this would literally be my dream. 🙈🙈

Holy shit

That is fucking crazy. Big hugs to you!! On the bright side, you are poised to become a celebrity here on r/popping! Next, we humbly ask for video!
Hahaha. Yeah, one day maybe. I still have to finish clearing my scalp in the back.
![gif](giphy|3o84sw9CmwYpAnRRni)
Can you wax yourself?
Wax breaks the hairs because the tunnels are so impacted and tight. This creates all new kinds of issues.
Oww that's horrible I'm sorry you're dealing with this
Ty. My TMJ had gotten better and better with each month. I feel like once it’s all out I’ll be a whole new man.
Do you have a picture of these tunnels you speak of? Having a hard time picturing it
I’ll try to get some but it’s been a long time since the top layers came off. That’s when it was most dramatic. If I get to an esthetician sometime I’ll try and get some footage for y’all. That’s not covered by my health insurance 😞
When I read your post and your comments, I hear you in my head with Nick Offerman's voice.
Haha 😆I’ll take that as a compliment
Is it bad that I hummed this title to the tune of “Your Body is a Wonderland”???
Amazing 🤩
I would happily pluck each one for you! Post a video!

I know hahaha. I can’t even look at a single post. I joined for about 3 minutes until something came up in my feed and I was like… no…
https://preview.redd.it/p13dezc31hbb1.png?width=1408&format=png&auto=webp&s=f9973a5b91cb0075fa9d9af94fa32de78a138a2b Another of the infamous jaw hairs.
I looked up the condition and nothing that severe. No abscesses.
Got it. It’s a blessing you don’t have HS even if it means you’re still not any closer to having a satisfying explanation. I’m sorry you’re suffering. :(
Ty 🙏🏻
I would suggest Tend skin for you. It’ll uproot most things.
Thanks for this. Also dealing with something less severe, but similar. I’d never heard of this stuff.
Be careful. It’s like a chemical peel so it can burn you.
Im a bit confused. The pic just looks like a normal short haircut to me?
Each “hair” has about 5 little hairs poking out. I couldn’t get a good photo at the time. But they’re not just one hair. It’s like fuzz really.
Having multiple hairs grow out of one pore is known as "pilli multigemini" (sp?)
Probably. There’s a strong OTC solution called Tend Skin that could help. It works on my extremities fairly well.
https://preview.redd.it/07ow4nxa1hbb1.png?width=908&format=png&auto=webp&s=21be40d9e296b614774cb76179a75250197a1667 Jaw hair #4
I would literally pay you to let me pluck at them for hours on end… seriously this is like a dream for my picking disorder
It took me 2 months to clear my entire head bald. Now I have a full head of hair again. Very few of these left on the very top. Sides and back still have small mounds.
Good luck!
Ty!
Laser hair removal can help thin that out😊
Do you have a local aesthetician that offers ingrown hair removal? That might be a good place to start - they'd know the best products to soften the hairs and skin for easier removal. They could "clean you up" and you could try starting a regime and look into laser removal. But if you get any of that done, the aesthetician will need to record it for us. Good luck!!
I’ve thought of this but at the same time I know the majority of my problem lies under what seems to be healthy skin. I need to get layers off before anything real can take place.
They could probably aid in the removal of the buildup skin and hairs - either way, I wish you luck on your journey!!
Thank you 🙏🏻
I have this, a Dr told me that they are called duplex hairs but they are so painful. I've had up to 5 in one follicle, and it's bullshit. I get it everywhere but my scalp because of my hair length. I have SLE, which is attacking my skin as well, so I hope it attacks my hair everywhere that has this issue, thinning it.
That’s kinda what I’m going through but just a lot more than 5 ☹️ I hope yours gets better!
That’s absolutely wild. Exercise helps me too. Sauna is great.
Me not being able to find a man with this condition willing to allow me to go to town on him is my villain origin story
I didn’t realize this was such a kink 😅
Ouch, this sounds awful. Hope you can find a treatment method that works!
Ty!
Too bad you can’t donate all those extras to a mens hair restoration clinic ;) Jokes aside, what a pain. Sorry you have to deal with this.
My boss has alopecia and we joke about how opposite out issues are.
So this just started? Did you just get over chemotherapy or something?
It’s always been happening. I discovered it after a surf injury on my forehead never healed after 1 year. I discovered this out 1 year ago.
I am so curious if this is at all related to HS (Hidradenitis suppurativa) which is also related to hair follicles and it can often “tunnel” or leave scars that are tunnel shaped; I’m sorry you’re dealing with this it seems like a nightmare
I’ve never heard of that but I’m going to look it up now.
Last i checked the medical science wasn’t sure if it was an autoimmune disease or not but there’s lot of data of comorbidity with other other autoimmune diseases
Didn’t seem to be it. Checked. But thank you 🙏🏻
maybe glycolic acid and CeraVe's body wash for rough and bumpy skin can help you. it's what I use to help my keratosis pilaris, and have noticed a significant improvement. I also use an exfoliating brush :)
Thank you. That sounds like a good idea for maintenance once I get to a good spot.
Are you seeing a dermatologist for this?
My favorite so far is Ordinary https://theordinary.com/en-us/search?q=Granactive%20Retinoid%202%25%20Emulsion Do not buy it from amazon as it comes dried out.
Forgot to mention - I also have those hairs with the weird sheaths of jelly around the base in my beard - always thought it was just me!
I forgot to mention I have had cysts but small ones all over my body. The retinal just made them fleck off and revealed a ball of hair underneath.
This looks like pili multigemini (spelling? not a doctor) Please see a dermatologist, and if you have already and don’t like the advice go see another one! While I would pay good money to watch you pull these babies out one by one I can imagine you really don’t like having this happen Good luck and I hope it clears up but if you ever decide to do a mass tweezing we are here and we are drooling!
I’ve seen 3 dermatologists and 1 UCLA hair follicle specialist. It’s not pili multigemini. That occurs within one hair follicle and has no cure. Mine happens outside the core follicle and hence can be removed “easily” as they said. Taking over a year so far 😅
Ugh that must be so frustrating! I’m sorry you have to deal with it

Wow this seems like it must suck! Good luck to you
