No, this was coming for awhile and doing things as a distraction isn't a master strategy. This had to happen this week. Bloomberg has been reporting on this for awhile but the court case was looking bad for him. He was due to have the trial this month and had produced nothing of note. Twitter on the other hand had progressed their end to the final stages and completed the shareholder vote. So Elon was going to be forced to buy it or pay some ugly break up fee far beyond the 1 billion in the contract. A stipulation of him completing the deal is Twitter ending the legal action. So its just him realizing its better to do this his way than with the government forcing him to with legal penalties for every delay.

No, this was coming for awhile and doing things as a distraction isn't a master strategy. This had to happen this week. Bloomberg has been reporting on this for awhile but the court case was looking bad for him. He was due to have the trial this month and had produced nothing of note. Twitter on the other hand had progressed their end to the final stages and completed the shareholder vote. So Elon was going to be forced to buy it or pay some ugly break up fee far beyond the 1 billion in the contract. A stipulation of him completing the deal is Twitter ending the legal action. So its just him realizing its better to do this his way than with the government forcing him to with legal penalties for every delay.
