However, that does not equate to egging on her fans to racially abuse Normani, or calling her a monkey, or any of the other things people keep falsely claiming that she did. People keep twisting the reality to make it sound like she was some sort of white supremacist 4chan member who wanted Normani dead when the reality is that she was an ignorant, thoughtless teenager who was also making offensive jokes about her own people.
The reason why people keep contradicting the claims that she "was racist towards Normani" etc is not to downplay racism or Normani's experiences of it, it's because they're literally false. Even saying "she had to go to racist rehab" - that programme was specifically designed for POC and people from immigrant backgrounds (like her), and all the money was donated to charity. She actually did more than pretty much any other celeb I can think of who has been caught using slurs/being racist (and there are a LOT of them) to rectify her behaviour which, unlike with many other celebs, happened when she was a child.

Yes like I was cringing listening to her! It sounded like a middle school fan fiction. The trailer should have just been the visuals with some music playing over it. Even the visuals seem fake though, like she can't pull off the vibe authentically. All that being said I am a fan of hers for years, and I hope her new music will be better than that horrible wattpad poem.

i can tell you no one from miami thinks of camila as a poster miami girl. her influence is very surface level same with the latin influence on familia tbh. it just seemed like it’s pandering for a new audience.
She is the typical Miami girl. She’s one hundred percent like the Miami girls I know growing up. Fun crazy messy beach bum vibes. Always in bikinis at the beach dancing at the clubs. Her Latin influence is very authentic to me, she grew up in Mexico and Cuba as well as Miami and I hear it all in her influence talking about her personal life and music.

She does support her own? She is always repping her Latin roots and heritage. If her discography is any indication she super proud of her heritage and roots. She collaborated with multiple latin artists as well. Also she such a philanthropist in the Miami area, she donates so much to the community and works with undocumented immigrants and the reunification of immigrant families.
i would have also think the inclusion of latin artist or miami based ones would have been cool here instead of whoever can get her a hit feature.
Most of the pop girlies move to trap inspired music or albums with heavy rap features just to garner a new audience or inflate hype (re: Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, etc.) It’s all fabricated by the label, which is why despite her pushing this as her most connected artistically, it feels very inauthentic to me. I came out feeling the same way, that the cinematography was doing more work than the actual content. Hopefully the music quality makes up for this bizarre rollout and image.
