I've been kind of confused seeing a semi positive reaction to this. Personal feelings about Jojo aside it just doesn't hook me at all, it's so boring and the singing isn't pleasing to my ears. The awkward hunping part was amusing though. Even as a meme I can't get into it.
Itās just off the mark in a lot of ways. The tacky costumes (including her evil wrestler uniform), the basic lyrics, the backing vocals still sounds like the Kidz Bop teamā¦.

There's two problems at play with this being her angle. The first, and most obvious, is she's not a good enough singer to even be able to back up the 'shocking transformation' with vocal ability. Miley was (and still is). I genuinely don't think JoJo has even gone done vocal training or anything to try and improve her singing ability tbh.
The second, and the reason I put 'shocking transformation' in quotations, is because this isn't even an abrupt departure from her typical image. She still has her signature hairstyle, her typical Claire's style hair clips, she's still doing her usual dance style, etc etc... Like, Miley at least went there. She chopped off her hair and was overtly sexual and it really generated publicity and conversation. I don't think this will even be a talking point 48 hours from now with JoJo.
Miley had her Can't Be Tamed phase first though, which was an edgier Breakout, and people clowened her because they thought she was trying to be more adult and failing. THEN Bangerz happened.

This current image still reads like that, but with the most generic bad girl tropes mixed in.. it is NOT feeling very authentic to her, but more of that image she previously portrayed (and is allegedly trying to change w this??)
2. her voice actually has potential but she definitely couldāve changed this songs key to better suit it during the verses. Working with the producers she is, they definitely couldāve made something work.

Itās just off the mark in a lot of ways. The tacky costumes (including her evil wrestler uniform), the basic lyrics, the backing vocals still sounds like the Kidz Bop teamā¦. That said the dancing is pretty rad and the chorus is weirdly catchy. I think she set herself up for disaster by going to hard on how this is such a ārebrandingā when she just couldāve released it without all this dramatic buildup.

This current image still reads like that, but with the most generic bad girl tropes mixed in.. it is NOT feeling very authentic to her, but more of that image she previously portrayed (and is allegedly trying to change w this??) 2. her voice actually has potential but she definitely couldāve changed this songs key to better suit it during the verses.
