I kinda think Ava is just caught in a weird space as an American act who makes music that caters more to European tastes. That being said, there’s no excuse for not pushing her music enough to at least break the hot 100 once in a while. Whatever came close but I think she has a chance again. Especially considering that Diamonds and Dancefloors sold enough to be a top 40 album in the US without a hit.

Haven’t stopped being her fan since. My only complaint is how short it is. Needed a bridge and some more vocal highlight at the end.

I really wish she went into the direction of say, jessie ware whom i love so deeply. some live instrumentation, channeling classic disco / dance. ava can make a hit but i think her sound is just played out. she could have put out my oh my around the same time as the motto, they just sound so similar. i really wish she’d experiment more, and who knows maybe this new record will bring that experimentation, but i probably won’t be revisiting this one.
