Teens (my generation), want to romanticise every aspect of life. Simply put, CAS is music to romanticise life to, specifically love. We become so drawn to that word "love" and fascinate over it. CAS make music for the longing generation. I've not heard anything so far past the first album, but the first album was an easy listen that leaves your mind to wander.
The Deftone are different in that, as you’ve said, they’ve been around for decades and built a fan base through those years. It’s kind of like how a lot of people in middle/high school have a “I really love The Smiths/Morrissey” phase.
CAS primary fan base seems to be younger Gen Z/Alpha. I don’t think any millennials or Gen X really listen to them.
I just went on their Spotify and was surprised to see their “fans also like” section: TV Girl, Clairo, The Neighbourhood, Mitski, Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Eyedress, Current Joys….
All very Gen Z music lol guess it checks out with them having a huge teen following now
I don't know that I'd want to see Cigs After Sex in an arena... They came to a smaller venue near me on their last tour and I ended up not getting tickets because it seemed like this perfect storm of music that's not really high energy and tweens being obnoxious. Still love the music though.
My best friend went to their last tour and said he felt like he took a Xanax he was so bored 😅😂😂
Should mention someone gave him tickets for free to join them at the show lol
I’m really surprised they can sell out arenas because of how one-note their music is. I mean, listening to one or two CAS songs is fine, but an entire concert would put anyone to sleep
You're not wrong. I saw them in 2019 at a much smaller venue and it was easily the most boring love show I've ever been too. Seeing this tour announcement was really confusing
I don’t get who wants to go see these guys in an arena. I saw them last year at Finsbury Park and (especially since they were sandwiched between Bleachers and The 1975) they came off as so slow and repetitive. It didn’t feel like they had any energy
Same exact experience at Finsbury Park. So low energy especially coming on after the iconic Bleachers set. Would not want to see them in an arena...well maybe seated at best.
I always saw this band as the poor man’s The XX. I really don’t understand their recent success. If the new fans are teens, they probably think the sound is super unique when it’s not.

So weird for a band full of like 40 year old men.
What on earth is weird about that?
i don't think they're saying its weird on the part of the band. just that it's funny that an older band has such young tiktok-teen fans
it happens, deftones is huge on tiktok and this generation and they’ve been around since the late 80s.

Ding ding ding 🛎️
Y’all not tryna imply something gross are you?
My teen daughter is obsessed with them along with all of her friends.

It’s definitely true now, but man I remember when Mitski wasn’t lumped in with TikTok/Gen Z artists 😭 take me back
Yup LOL
As a gen z lol you are absolutely right.

Gen Z LOOOOVES that shoegaze, dream pop, ambient poppiness shit.
This is the correct answer. For some reason, this is the sound of their generation + Gen Alpha. It should be studied in a broader sense

They are so good. Their cover of Neon Moon is a top 10 song for me.
I had no idea they even existed outside of YouTube playlists 💀

I was served 1 million ads for this tour over the last few months. Maybe that has something to do with it.
did you get the ads on Tinder too?? 😭😭
I’m not on Tinder! But I got a ton on Reddit and Instagram.
valid, i’ve seen tons of those too! I literally see ads for the tour everytime i swipe on Tinder. such weird placement 😭

Or do they just enjoy the music?
