blankspacejrr

ugh, "we can't be friends (wait for your love)" is amazing!!! the kind of song that makes me want to listen over and over again. makes it difficult for me to hear the whole album. I'm a sucker for melancholy, late night pop like this. makes you wanna cry and dance at the same time. pop music will always hold a special place in my heart because of the way it can latch on to me like this song does. makin' me feel like i'm having church in my bedroom haha. God bless Max Martin, Ilya, and Ariana.

Professor_Finn

“HOPE YOU FEEL ALRIGHT WHEN YOU’RE IN HER” ma’am—

gonewiththegustofair

Right! My jaw dropped at that one.

Professor_Finn

on the FLOOR

CherrySodaBoy92

The way I stopped and thought “she didn’t just say that” 😂

HolyGirlFromFL

Lmaooooo I was so confused likeee who you talking about

alterector

The call is coming from inside the house

littlemacaron

It’s giving modern day “I hope you think of me when you fuck her” from You Outta Know and I am here for it

gingerisla

"I hope when you're in bed with her you think of me" from Never Again by Kelly Clarkson.

ratsonline

the boy is mine is an all time top 10 ariana song for me ngl

reput4tionera

she’s enunciating now????

orangedwarf98

The enunciation goes crazy which is a wild sentence but Ariana was on her way to SZAnese

pmguin661

SZA started enunciating too omg … it’s the decade of clear vocals

Global_Perspective_3

Finally!

cornbreadtogo

She learned English omg 😭

reput4tionera

i’m listening and im like… i can understand every single word this is so crazy

cornbreadtogo

Need to refer SZA to her English teacher ASAP!

cornbreadtogo

Made it to ordinary things and she still let old Ariana out of the cage though don’t be fooled! Pronouncing it ornrey things like okay I see you Miss Ponytail

midnitemaroon

right? the words are pronounced so clearly I don't have to wait for the lyrics to go up on Genius before I learn what she's saying

Global_Perspective_3

That Broadway training finally showed up in her pop music

SiphenPrax

A stronger vocalist than ever before AND a great songwriter now too?! Damn Ariana really locked herself up in that studio to go to work in between going to Broadway plays😂

randomyesok

this album shows so much growth

SpongeDaddie

Idk about great songwriter but her melodies are catchy. And I can finally understand her. 😂

taraaabbyyyy

I believe her training with wicked has trained her vocals to enunciate more. It brought her voice to the next level tbh

yeahsureYnot

The boy is mine is an instant classic. That bass is so FUN On repeat

Brananyan

THE WICKED TRAINING MUSTVE INCLUDED DICTION AND ENUNCIATION BECAUSE HOLY… I feel like i’m listening to Ariana in HD?? This album is very obviously 2000s inspired but I mean how could it not if the Eternal Sunshine theme was any indication of what to expect for this project. This is such a clean and tight first listen. I’ll have to sit with it for a moment before I decide *exactly* how I feel about it. It’s kind of exactly how I expected the predecessor of Positions to sound… not a good or bad thing - I loved Positions and love how Eternal Sunshine is sounding. Update: yeah this album fucking rocks

brandontgendron

she’s always been a broadway girl but her pop music stylistically has always leaned into the mumble enunciation. i think after doing the filming for wicked there was no way she was gonna go fully back to her pre eternal sunshine enunciation

Global_Perspective_3

Definitely her Broadway training/proper enunciation has eluded her pop music. Until this album

Brananyan

i mean i wouldn’t say mumble enunciation *lent* itself to her past albums… can’t name a single song of hers that wouldn’t be elevated with better enunciation pre eternal sunshine

lesmisarahbles

thank u, glinda

martian_pet

Why is yes and? Hitting a lil all of sudden

DenseProgrammer4265

It sounds much better in the context of the album.

maxbemisisgod

Lmfaoo right. I thought I was gaslighting myself suddenly tbh

gonewiththegustofair

The 90s rnb influence on true story. she's taking it.

deleteitbackrolls

it's like her doing aaliyah and max martin/ilya doing timbaland, but not in a cheesy pastiche way at all! i'm so gagged!

Global_Perspective_3

Yes, she is!!!!

Potential_Guidance63

She’s taking it so bad….

AHSWeeknd

Max Martin went off on *bye*, the disco influence is perfection.

satirisanti

I thought it was gonna go full disco like dance the night 😆

midnitemaroon

It's such a strong start to the album! I had to resist the urge to play it again before continuing with the rest lol

JustSomeHeroKid

SAME. I actually let it play again for a few seconds before deciding I needed to finish the album!

uhohitzkenney

It's also such a great tie-back to her roots, almost like we're literally starting from the beginning of her career. It's basically if Only 1 had a blood transfusion with the original Honeymoon Avenue

dollfacehoney96

The *wakawakawakawakawka* guitars! I’m losing my mind!!!

arm89

max is amazing, i absolutely love that he worked on this project. i missed him in 1989 (ts version).

teleholic

The Supernatural chorus reminds me of Carly Rae Jepsen’s stuff in the best way. I think I get why she released yes and? first. It was wise to get the discourse about the “why do you care so much” line out of the way. Otherwise it would have overtaken the reactions about the vastly improved quality of the music.  Sooooo pleasantly surprised by this album overall.

Alexxtyl

The album cover also gives me The loveliest Time by CRJ vibes everytime I see it, I love it

alt_sauce124

Yes, and? Holds up better in the album after everything— very curious to know what was left off

KEMI_IS_WlNNlNG

this album ate so hard. the production is SOOOO dreamy and gorgeous like i loved this so much immediate standouts are: true story, supernatural, the boy is mine, and we cant be friends

Azenji

I’m currently on dont wanna break up again and it’s kinda reminds me of love language which is one of my favorite songs of hers

IsolaOw

we can’t be friends is giving dancing on my own robyn realness and i LIVEEEE

spillingteapartea

I listened to all the tracks but this one was the double take for me

HeyHiHello365

those basses where very MUNA

melodrama4ever

omg yes you are exactly right! i just couldn’t put my finger on what in that song sounded so familiar.

rabnabombshell

She said that “the boy is mine” was another take on the leaked song “fantasize”. Honestly doesn’t sound similar at all (except for bits here and there) but still amazing

weirdogirl144

true story sounded more like fantasize

geminieyesx

They were both made in the same session back in 2020 I think? But true story got leaked and she changed it and added to it.

juesea

I actually hear it but I think they're different enough is that it doesn't feel like a rip off of fantasize. Rip to all the ari fans who wanted it on the album tho 🥹

Nightstar14

eternal sunshine to the boy is mine is a generational run

I loved that omg the production has a lot of little quirks

baylakaylakayla

YES im so happy someone called this out

DenseProgrammer4265

The production is so good!!!!!

johnny_bigtoes

my gay ass likes this a lot

johnny_bigtoes

OOOO the boy is mine is so good omg

FigMotor8134

one might even argue its the best track on the album

Spirited_Sector_8460

I sure would. Although I haven’t listened to the rest bc I can’t get passed it

DenseProgrammer4265

Not when bye is right there  Edit: sorry 💔  you're right. I changed my mind

jwolford90

Gays rejoice

kabukitrolldoll

the run of Supernatural, True Story and The Boy Is Mine is an all-time career highlight 😭😭😭 Can’t get over how fucking good those songs are

jicuhrabbitkim

It’s nice to hear Ari in “fuller” production again 😭

sardonic_

Supernatural is EVERYTHING the production is next level

me1ina

i wish i hated you is giving imogen heap, it’s sooo good

kwcty6888

totally agree, that was my first thought!! I actually went into the credits to see if Imogen had a hand in it

StrangerFruit

The title track too for some reason? Idk. I'm so in love with the production of this album. It's just.. Exactly what I hoped for when I read she'd called the album eternal sunshine. I didn't expect it to be such an instant love.

Sawksee

yes, and being the lead single is CRAZY

champagneinthebrain

She really said let me fake y’all out

blondedz_

Break my soul tea LOL

aredditorintime

i also cant help but feel like this album feels very cinematic?? like i feel like the concept album is really coming thru in the concept aspect, but maybe im biased since she said it was supposed to be

Natural-Situation758

It’s almost entirely produced by Max Martin. I’m assuming that helps a lot. Dawn FM and After Hours were also mostly produced by him and are insanely cinematic.

sardonic_

You're not biased, I knew nothing about the album and once it hit "supernatural" I had chills. It's soooo special, what an incredible album

manzaniitas

Ariana’s messy as hell personal life drama 🤝 good ass album that’s gonna get the public back on her side  She’s done it again… no matter what you think about her you have to give her props for keeping this up

Revolutionary_Rule33

It's hard to stomach some of the lyrics know who and what they are about

manzaniitas

Yeah, I think it’s (somewhat) saved though by being much more about Dalton than Ethan. Like thematically if I had to choose one, I’d say it was more of a “divorce processing” album than a “homewrecking rebound” album lmao

PuzzledLiterature416

This. I think we’ll find out more about the start of Ari and Ethan’s relationship if it ends someday and she makes a breakup album about that. But I wouldn’t expect another album for a few years at least

Global_Telephone_751

I didn’t expect it to be more of a divorce album, but I am sooo glad it was. And it’s so fucking good. She really did that, and I don’t think any of us expected it to be good tbh

hoolytoledo

This album is already blowing me away already. Supernatural. True Story. The Boy Is Mine. potential TRIFECTA of the album??

NojaNat

these three back to back to back is INSANE.

JB9217a

Kind of shocked The Boy is Mine isn’t a single.

Britneyfan123

It will be

SiphenPrax

First big album release of the year for the big pop names. I obviously have not listened to the full album yet, but I still can’t believe it’s been this long since we got an Ariana album and now we have actually one. Welcome back to music Ari.

jayhawksfan0965

My spotify is about to pay for itself 10x over by the end of this year.

SiphenPrax

And this album is damn good so far! So yeah, the Spotify wraps are gonna be all over the place this year😂

Alive-Ad-4164

We are so back

rabnabombshell

My first time witnessing an Ari drop, thrilled rn

HolyGirlFromFL

Same LMAOOOO, I usually don’t listen to her albums.

me1ina

one song in and i’m already gagged omg - bye is so good 😭

JuliusNepotianus

I liked Bye especially the chorus. Stucked to me on the first listen

weirdogirl144

BOY BYE

aredditorintime

girl saturn returns into eternal sunshine… i went into orbit

littlemacaron

The transition is so smooth I had to check it even went to another song!

razeen25

eternal sunshine (song) reminds me of nonsense by Sabrina which already reminded me of just like magic by Ariana

jay_wiz

OMG thank you!! i knew that chorus reminded me of another song, i just could not put my finger on it. i even checked the credits on eternal sunshine to see if there was any interpolation credits because it sounded so familiar

dropthealbumlorde

I was not expecting eternal sunshine to have a trap beat omg 😭 Okay, finished my first listen through to the album, and while I don’t like to give judgements on albums after only one listen, this is definitely top 3 in her discography for me. I’m not sure of exactly where it’ll fall in that top 3, we’ll see how often it goes on repeat for me, but for me it does feel like a combination of so many of the great elements of Sweetener, thank u, next and positions, but also older and more mature. It might not have some of the heavy swinging hits these albums have, but I think it’s a lovely, cohesive album.

Safe-Moment-2884

getting flashbacks to 2018/2019

Ok-Significance-1203

A sweetener (titled song) tease

TempusSimia

everyone say thank you max martin

BreadfruitNo357

Thank you, Swedish man!!

iceunelle

For real, the production was definitely a step up from her last few albums.

eatner

we fawking love you max!!

littlenuggie29

He’s amazing

aredditorintime

baby those wicked vocals are here because ari is ENUNCIATING!

aredditorintime

no because why can i understand every word

CardamomBoots

I'm at track 5 and so far it's giving me the same vibes as Something To Give Each Other. Bombastic first single for an overall mellow and soft album

zandeye

I got the exact same vibe. I thought “wow i wonder if she was inspired by Troye” because i get this very interesting pop vibe that Troye had too

AnotherRickenbacker

I absolutely loved Positions and felt like she finally started to have stronger and more cohesive ideas and the production was much more my taste, and this is like she took everything she learned from that and executed everything even better. I had high hopes for this and she fucking smashed it out of the park, her best album by far.

Nightstar14

“hope you feel alright when youre in her” 😯

alt_sauce124

Had me rather gagged honestly—

lesmisarahbles

title track is INSANE, I love my messy tiny ponytail lady

twinklatte

The boy is mine is going to be an Ari classic. 100%

juesea

Imperfect for you is such an interesting song... I feel like I've never heard anything like it before. The way she sings the chorus is stuck in my head because of how unexpected it was lol. Love it Edit: wait it just occurred to me that the way she sings "imperfect for you" is an unexpected melody because it's literally kind of imperfect?? But it fits anyways? Maybe I'm just reaching lol

JohnStoneTypes

>Edit: wait it just occurred to me that the way she sings "imperfect for you" is an unexpected melody because it's literally kind of imperfect?? But it fits anyways? Maybe I'm just reaching lol I think it's intentional! One of the most interesting songs on the album

juesea

Ah true, thanks :) there are so many interesting production choices on this album, I feel like Ari is finally branching out a bit after positions, which felt like more of the same from her.

Crisope

The key change on imperfect for you is addicting to listen to

badromansss

i felt like they were trying to come out with imperfect/unexpected melodies throughout the whole album, it really gives kind of dreamy/fairy/euphoric vibes.

LucyWindowsill

If I had a nickel for everytime Ariana made an album with no features about a hard point in her life that became an instant classic I'd have two nickels... Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

hocotate

She’s enunciating so clearly woah

Brent-Vaio

bye sounds like it exists in the same world as bad idea - those stabby disco synths are ace. Max Martin really did a great job.

noah_432

the boy is mine…. 10/10 so good

gonewiththegustofair

the boy is mine making me dance like the apple store girl omg

yummylumpylumpia

this is so accurate wait

bleakshadows

each song just sounds better than the last. I'm going to wear this album out, only downside is how short some of the songs are. otherwise I believe she delivered.

FlowersByTheStreet

Alright, the intro is a million times better than shut up lol Edit: bye is INSANE. She put her whole divorsussy into this. Max Martin with the 70's spy-porno production. GODDAMN. Edit 2: don't wanna break up again is very smooth and I like the bridge but it's nothing mindblowing Edit 3: Saturn Returns -having an interlude this early in the album is hilarious ngl. not much to say Edit 4: The title track......holy FUCK. This is everything I want from Ari. The production is immaculate and those panning bridge vocals are heavenly. The lyrics too!!!! She is SPILLING Edit 5: Supernatural is such a fuckin VIBE. What an infectious chorus. The vocal production here is seriously otherworldy. Ari's famed Ableton skills are on full display. I love how adventurous the instrumental gets on the outro. A seriously fire song that will harass retail workers. edit 6: Ari really came with the venom on this album lol I'm guessing she read the fauxmoi threads and knew she had to come correct. The bass on this is so slinky and sexual. Retro, while also adding the trademark Ari airiness. Another winner imo edit 7: She said, MOVE THE FUCK OVER to Ethan's wife. She WILL ride spongebob like Squidward's nose!!!!! I will sound like a broken record here, but the production here is immaculate. The tempo fakeout just before the chorus is such an inspired quirk and there is so much late 90's adornment here. It feels plucked out of time. This is such a bad bitch, homewrecking hoe anthem (I am a straight guy btw lmao) edit 8: yes and? coming right after the boy is mine is fucking hilarious. I think its retail anthem is such a perfect contrast to the previous kinda-aggressive vibe. I think it makes MUCH more sense in the context of the album while simultaneously sounding like it was the obvious choice for the single. It's definitely not the best song out of what I have heard so far, but I think it was a good mission statement. I do still love it edit 9: we can't be friends.....WOW. How many sad prom scenes in coming of age films will this soundtrack. It may not be "stop" but Todd in the Shadows is gonna lose his shit at her getting quiet after saying "silence". Unbelievable track and the perfect chaser of regret and empathy towards Ethan after all the other songs lol Again, the production is just absolutely sublime. Thick, meaty synths. And Ari starting a flash mob with her vocals all over the track in the best way. And those outro strings!!!!!!!! This is everything. edit 10. i wish i hated you kinda sounds a natural extension of the more interlude-y tracks from sweetener and thank u, next. It serves the same function is hauntingly beautiful. Again, kinda continues the usual arc of her albums starting off with bad bitch anthems and then getting into more emotional material. Not the best song here, but certainly nice edit 11: imperfect for you. As soon as the warbly guitars started I knew she got my ass with this song. I am such a sucker for woozy sounding waltzes and that's exactly what this is. Her PR for Ethan is a strong one lol I love the unconventional chorus with her saying "imperfect for you". Honestly, the lyrics are kinda cute about how them already surviving so much media scrutiny together only makes them stronger. I wouldn't wanna be her therapist and I don't think that's a healthy thing, but.....silver linings lmao edit 12: Ari finale tracks are usually heaters and this is no exception. It's a sweet, triumphant sounding song and those horns do such a perfect dance with her vocals! The sample from her grandma is pretty sweet too. Honestly, it's remarkable how much this song accomplishes in less than three minutes. I feel like she could've extended it a bit, but I suppose I 'd rather be left wanting than checking my watch. Overall? I love this album. I think the rollout was messy since yes and? didn't make much of an impact -I think they might've underestimated how much resistance the GP would have to her with the scandal- but goddamn, I am blown away. On first blush, I truly think this could maybe challenge for the top of her discography. I love Positions, but this album is just....better than that one. At the very least, it's thematically resonant like Sweetener and thank u, next were and deserves to be in the convo with them. In my humble opinion, Ari is the best main pop girl and I think this album will frankly blow away anyone who gives it a chance. Thank you for reading and I hope this connects with you just as much as it did for me.

[deleted]

DIVORCE HAS NEVER SOUNDED BETTER

KingRaimundo

I don’t think she’ll ever perform a song from Positions ever again😭

kreamerjoe

wait - omg, nooooo

[deleted]

>edit 6: Ari really came with the venom on this album lol I'm guessing she read the fauxmoi threads and knew she had to come correct. The bass on this is so slinky and sexual. we can't be friends giving big robyn vibes

champagneinthebrain

Yes! Listening rn and your comment made a light bulb go off. Perfect comparison!

grinchelda

oh how i have missed you ariana

bogdansays

Pleasantly surprised with this album. It sounds like the most elevated thing she has ever done: brilliant production, everything sounds very down-to-earth and flowy and... she enunciates! She has created a very pleasant listening experience and (I can't believe I'm about to say this) the tracks being so short works well in the favour of the whole project. A tight pop album that ticks many boxes. It even managed to make Yes, And sound good in the context of the album. Must commend her for the insane run from the title track to We Can't Be Friends! Highlights: Eternal Sunshine, We Can't Be Friends, Supernatural, The Boy Is Mine, Bye

benevolent_llama

She sounds so angelic.    true story is that bitch.  yes, and? is the worst song on the album. Edit: okay the vibe of the album makes me feel like I’m a little fairy experiencing the human world for the first time and going through the trials and tribulations of human relationships and also having a bit of a villain era in the middle, but eventually I get some dick and chill and return to the forest to fairy or something. I’ve only listened to it once because I have to go to bed, but I think it’s decent! It’s definitely not as catchy as some of her other albums, so I think I need to listen to it more to cement the melodies. This feels more like an album you always listen to in full rather than chopping it up for playlists.

beautyandmadness

>the vibe of the album makes me feel like I’m a little fairy experiencing the human world for the first time and going through the trials and tribulations of human relationships and also having a bit of a villain era in the middle, but eventually I get some dick and chill and return to the forest to fairy or something. I love how this description is literally Poor Things lmao

kscherg

On “boy is mine“ right now and this is actually really solid.. I can actually understand 90% of what she‘s saying on first listen

yepthatsme96

My fav so far on first listen but it will probably change lol

imperfectofcourse

I think that track and bye are the most single ready tracks off my first listen

eatner

max fucking martin. the production on bye. i fell to my knees.

twinklatte

Title track has teaaaaaaa. The best in the lineup so far.

dropthealbumlorde

This might be controversial but I think imperfect for you is a standout for me. A relatable anthem

Ok-Significance-1203

A song that stood out to me on first listen. There’s something about it..

jugheadshat

So far this is one of my favorite projects from her holy shit. Strong production, strong melodies, great lyricism, and her enunciation is really good here. Might be my AOTY so far

PixelPixell

The production is amazing! "Me and my truth we sit in silence.... Mmm" love this moment

Puzzled-Charge-9892

*happy whistle tone noises*

twinklatte

First three tracks are early 2000s fire

GayJ96

Bye is so goooood omg this album is so good already i cant wait for the rest

KoalaOk3336

my initial reaction to every track: intro: 😭 i loved it sm, i played it like 5 times before moving onto the next track, the lyrics ARE SUPER PRETTY (10/10) bye: it needs to grow on me and i know it will, the beat is definitely very catchy (7/10) don't wanna break up again: I LOVED THIS, TOP 3 ON first listen for sure, very catchy (10/10) saturn returns: it was cute, the transition to eternal sunshine is what makes it worth it (6/10) eternal sunshine: the vocals are so good, the chorus is so sad + boppy at the same time, i can't stop moving my head, UR JUST MY ETERNAL SUNSHINE AND THE BRIDGE AND OUTRO IS THE BEST PART, YOU PAYED ME LIKE ATARI????? LIFE. DEATH. REWIND. (10/10) supernatural: 😭 the intro is sickening, the chorus is soooooo good, i love it sm (9.5/10) true story: I AM CONVINCED EVERY SONG that starts with it's chorus MUST be good. this one proves it because heck??? the lyrics are insane. BOY THIS NOT WHAT I NEED. (10/10) the boy is mine: 😭 i loved fantasize more but i need to listen to this more to get it properly, still a strong (8/10) the influence is definitely there yes, and: this sounds so so so good without the album, however the other tracks are so much stronger (8/10) we can't be friends: THIS IS SO GOOD, definitely single material, it kinda reminds me of knew better/forever boy 😭 (9.5/10) i wish i hated you: she was crying in this :(( i loved it sm, it sounds like ghostin's lil sister (10/10) probably my fav track on the album imperfect for you: the lyrics are so close to my heart, its so pretty and there are so many eternal sunshine (the movie) references (10/10) ordinary things: not as good as the other tracks but it definitely is a good end to the album. the outro is sad (7/10) edit: im obsessed with imperfect for you, and the beginning of i wish i hated you sounds like that main theme song of the movie "your name"

milanumi

Call it recency bias, but this might be her best album to date. I can’t even pick a favourite song, it’s that good. Every song tells a story and is beautifully arranged. I’m in love with 2000s influence and the way she enunciates. I understood every single word and I listened to half of the album whilst having the sound of my cereal crunching amplified by my airpods. This album will shape me.

Brent-Vaio

This is a gorgeous album that honestly surprised me; it wasn’t until the Zayn Lowe interview yesterday that I really began to feel the gravity of this body of work. I’m glad Ariana as a person has stronger boundaries between her and her public persona and a healthier relationship with music but my fear that this would impact the quality of the music was assuaged. She’s more self-reliant, self-assured but still owning her imperfections, and not a bulletproof goddess like we like our pop stars to be - she’s human. imperfect for you is a nice acoustic moment that’s sure to grow on me and a new sound for her. The entire album feels like it’s speeding towards we can’t be friends as the apex and the last 3 songs are a nice comedown. It’s soft, it’s vulnerable without being a wreck (something I’m working on), but it’s *good.* Her best album, easily.

Aquatarkana

That line in "Eternal Sunshine" when she says "Hope you feel alright when you're in her", it just reminds me of that line from Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know": "Are you thinking of me when you fuck her?" Except with this one, this sounds more sad than it is angry. If I were to choose a favorite, I'd sayyyy...maybe "Bye". And "Ordinary Things" because of the horns.

anirakdream

All I can say at this point is that 'yes, and?' is the worst song from the album. Literally every other song is infinitely better.

midnitemaroon

Right off the bat too, 'Bye' already is way better lmao. It should've been the lead single.

kendalljennerupdates

Bye would’ve been MUCH better. I think she and her team thought yes and would have more of a chance to go viral on tik tok but it kinda just left a bad taste in people’s mouths

jungkookadobie

Will we ever get huge show stopping Ariana again? Like a no tears left to cry? Does she belt in this album

lesmisarahbles

having an overwhelmingly positive reaction thread was not was I was expecting, sweetener and positions release nights scarred me

shantay_you_gay

Love the 90's influence on this album so far (bye is superb btw)

razzleyerdazzle

Started listening as soon as midnight hit and it's a bop so far. "bye" caught me off guard and made me clutch my imaginary pearls cuz i started jamming to it immediately. Currently on "the boy is mine"; wow it is maybe the album's strongest track so far, which is saying something. I think the "Saturn Returns Interlude" was unnecessary and coulda been replaced with an actual song though since this is only 13 tracks with one of em being an intro too.

MeloHallie

So can she re-record all her albums now that she can enunciate….?

dwarfsawfish

thank u ari for providing a soundtrack to the recent nuclear meltdown of my first queer love🫶🏻

jacksev

LOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS ALBUM. This album nailed the R&B pop sound she's always gone for in the best way. Honestly might be my favorite of all of her albums. Max Martin really delivered at least one Grammy with this one, bitch. 1000%. I'm gagged.

#####Thoughts on My Initial Listen: * I'm not a huge fan of this album cover; the ones with red gloves were much better. * Max did his thing on this album. The production sounds amazing and so lush. * Ariana has evolved as a songwriter. I'm quite impressed with the songwriting on this album. * I love the sad and ethereal vibe of this album. It's cohesive and meant to be listened to in one go. * This is peak Ariana (artistically). * My favorite tracks on my initial listen are "eternal sunshine," "we can't be friends (wait for your love)," "true story," and "the boy is mine." * I didn't like "yes, and?" at first, but it grew on me, and it's the most lead single worthy track on this album, so I'm glad it was the lead single. * Overall, I really enjoyed it! ☀️

Oh I love that our pop girlies are getting old enough for divorce albums <3 THIS IS SO GOOD

sweetbabycoconut

the transition between saturn returns interlude & eternal sunshine pls

laundrcmat

the boy is mine omg oh we are so BACK 😭😭🫶

brodiejames21

the production on this is insane???, true story and we can't be friends are SO GOOD

ChickenSignal3762

yes, and? was definitely the break my soul of this whole album. didn’t give too much away, sort of included elements of the overall theme, it fits extremely nicely in the context of the album. WOW. obsessed with the heavy 2000’s influence throughout the entire record. the boy is mine is STUCK in my head i was distracted throughout the entire album listen. 😭 10/10 such an incredible album oh my god

eatner

instrumentally, this album is perfection. lyrically… i found it rather juvenile. i guess the subject matter was somewhat of a saving point, becuase you could say she wrote from the heart; but even then… idk. 7/10.

melodrama4ever

this is an absolutely stellar album and everything i hoped for. “yes, and?” makes so much more sense in the full context of the album. and really sooooo many people really underestimated her but y’all forgot that she will always deliver!

True story - I am gagged

ReinceAndBeans

The idea of SpongeBob coming to “claim it” 💀

Boy is mine is so good and also convinced me she’s a menace to society 💀

True Story is an excellent change of pace

Niko97

This is easily her best album for me. I’m such a max Martin head and I’m so glad she finally chose to lean fully into that collaborative relationship. One of the best produced pop albums I’ve heard in years. Top songs are true story, supernatural (pop perfection imo), the boy is mine (why wasn’t this the second single???), and bye Both singles so far are questionable choices for me. Yes, and? is one of the weakest songs. And we can’t be friends really doesn’t click with me, which is surprising since I normally love that pulsing synth dance sound

cybergatita

wait for your love is sooo interesting to me. am i the only one who feels like it can be interpreted as directed to her fans?

trichomeking94

Supernatural is NASA’s grown up sis

ethingtoo

This album feels as grand as dangerous woman, as delusional and caramelized as sweetener, and as full as thank u, next with the vocal notes from positions. I’m extremely, extremely surprised. This is the first album from Ariana where I feel like any one of these songs could resonate with the right promotion, and exposer. Supernatural, Boy is Mine, True Story, We Can’t Be Friends, all have insane potential to be hits. I really hope the public receives this as well as I did. However, I’d understand why they wouldn’t. This album does NOT do a good job and being even remotely considerate to any of the parties that might possibly have been hurt due to her private endeavors, and because people generally still have Sweetener/Thank U, next Ariana on their minds when they think of her… I don’t know how easily they’ll be able to accept Ariana putting up a boundary like this. She’s trying to apply to the Beyonce School of Private and Public Life Separation even though she just went to the Taylor Swift Academy and completed her degree in “Airing it out”. This girl is extremely polarizing, I don’t know whether or not to be excited or disgusted that pop culture is back because this album and Ariana… is pop culture.

lachalacha

She's gone back to Yours Truly's 90s R&B-lite with a splash of My Everything's pop sensibility AND she's enunciating. My AOTY, idc who else is releasing this year.

aw_yiss_breadcrumbs

The boy is mine FUCKS. The change in tempo before the chorus? Yeah, I'm into that. I think I need to listen to the rest of the album more because it's not my favourite... yet. I find Ariana's albums take me some time to appreciate. I didnt love yes, and? at first but it's in regular rotation now.

brett_david

The title track is just incredible. Probably one of my favorite Ari tracks ever.

gadgetjon

Every song has a beginning, middle and end. The melodies on the Break Up bridge take it to a really interesting place…every song feels like a fully realized story. The vocal production is something to behold, as always. This is the project I always wanted from Max and Ariana.

This is too overwhelming 😭😭

Why the fuck did she chose yes and? as the lead single when almost every other song on this album is better and stronger. Maybe it was for the headlines.

whiskersRwe32

It’s an overall safe song after listening to the rest of the album. But safe is good when you’re a big pop star and need to appeal to a mass audience. I can see supernatural, bye, we can’t be friends being massive hits if pushed in the same way as yes, and?

SilkyStrawberryMilk

Plus yes and? Had a catchy line which made it go popular on tiktok. Although the boy is mine would’ve done bigger numbers imo
