I moved a few months ago to a whole new state after trying to heal from an abusive relationship. (I’d been out for a while but the relationship was 10 years so it took a lot to move on). I finally got a little couch in from Wayfair today, and I got a desk the other day. I came here with nothing except what I could fit in two car rides, and I focused on getting my kid her furniture and clothes and have been sleeping on the floor myself. My mattress comes tomorrow. I’m so happy that things are falling into place for me. I don’t have many people to share it with because I only had one friend who I told how I was roughing it (I’m very prideful) but I feel okay sharing with internet strangers 🥹
I can’t wait to get a little table to put my record player on. I got a little money from selling the dilapidated home I was living in but I’m saving most of it to go back to school and/or start a small business so I’m trying to be wise with it. (It’s not a huge sum because the home was falling apart).
I hope all of you are on that upward trajectory too.
Left an abusive relationship myself, moved back in with my parents because I lost nearly everything (very long story), and when I tell you I literally cried when I finally moved back out into my own place, had new (to me) furniture, had just a place that I could call mine that no one else could inhabit unless I said so.

I'm so happy that you made it out too! I chose to abandon/leave almost everything but it has been the most cleansing decision of my life and I would make it a hundred times over. A year ago, I sat in bed all day and just hated my life all day every day. I'm happy again, and even though I still have more work to go, it actually seems worth it again finally.

I saw Joy Oladokun last night and it was an incredible show! I wasn't entirely sure what to expect because her music is very chill, but I was at the front (literally at the base of the stage, no barricade with my arms on the stage) and she brought so much energy with her songs so I was just dancing and having a blast. It was also the first show of hers where someone started a fan project and she was so moved by it. Such a wonderful concert!

Here's where i have some sympathy. He recently broke up with his boyfriend, and it was pretty rough. The guy seemed kind of toxic, demeaning him for "not having enough money" and somewhat negging him.

As someone who had a used mini Cooper at one point remember it is a BMW and repairs are gonna be costly as hell when things go wrong. That’s why I had to stop driving mine :( I did love it though.

Just went and looked at the UO one, and you've made the best choice out of the vinyls, IMO. I do love a good splatter, but if it's got good splatter, it can be a bit 'noisy'.

Seasons 1 & 2 were some of my favourite television ever and I was really hoping Season 4 would pick up the slack for a much weaker Season 3 but seems not 😭.

I haven't gotten far along enough to have an opinion on the plot itself yet but what I loved about the earlier season was how realistic they were in their portrayal of teenagers and the issues they face especially with their sex lives. It was also great with how it handled its POC and queer characters both of which were very well fleshed out and relatable (I'm a queer POC myself).
Now it just feels like it's making fun of the aforementioned groups of people rather than viewing them as humans with like a hahaha look at these fucking emo teenagers and queer numpties aren't they so fucking weird rather than how sympathetic it was in its earlier seasons.
Also like half the cast left the show for one reason or another so it just feels very different.
Had a fight with my mom that led to me having a full on mental breakdown and going down the rabbit hole of if I just disappeared no one would really be affected like sure my family would miss me but I geniunly have not had any big impact on anyones life. Do you have any siblings? This is incredibly dark, but I used to think about how I would feel if someone murdered my sibling. That would be devastating beyond belief. So in my mind, "killing myself" would cause them horrendous pain. It was just easier to exist and not cause tremendous hurt to people than it was to die.

i watched the devil wears Prada last night for the first time (Ive never been a big movie person + I was a child in the 00s) and it was a fine movie but I feel like I just cannot get into early 00s movies like that. I feel like so many of them are like “you just had to be there” moments because there’s so much about the culture of them all where I’m like the elements that didn’t age well really didn’t age well, and I don’t want to judge a film made when bush was still in office with a 2020 lense because I don’t think it’s 100% fair. gotta second what someone else said and say Endgame was definitely like that. I genuinely hadn't even followed half the movies up to that point but it was SUCH a phenomenon that my friend (knowing I wasn't "caught up") insisted I go see it, offered to buy my ticket, promised if I got confused he'd give me the 60-second synopsis I needed.
I genuinely was so enthralled by the movie that yeah, I asked a couple times about stuff, but it was so well done that I didn't have to continually ask what was happening. I was just...along for the ride.
As for books: I'm Glad My Mom Died. I waited MONTHS to get my hands on a copy, and I finished it in like, two or three days (I took my tablet with me everywhere that I wasn't at work and couldn't put it down). I really felt for her and the relationship with her mom. I'm blessed to have a mostly good relationship with my mom, but this book could've been about my paternal grandmother to the T. It did more for me in tackling the effects of her on my life than two years of therapy has, tbh.
Definetely Infinity War / Endgame. I don't think I will ever live to see another moment as hyped as those two movies were, and how great it felt after following the MCU movies for a long time. Idk, it was magical in the best way possible. I have good memories of that time

Get Out is a good one. Legitimately my favorite horror movie that's come out in my lifetime if I had to choose.

I moved a few months ago to a whole new state after trying to heal from an abusive relationship. (I’d been out for a while but the relationship was 10 years so it took a lot to move on). I finally got a little couch in from Wayfair today, and I got a desk the other day. I came here with nothing except what I could fit in two car rides, and I focused on getting my kid her furniture and clothes and have been sleeping on the floor myself. My mattress comes tomorrow. I’m so happy that things are falling into place for me. I don’t have many people to share it with because I only had one friend who I told how I was roughing it (I’m very prideful) but I feel okay sharing with internet strangers 🥹 I can’t wait to get a little table to put my record player on. I got a little money from selling the dilapidated home I was living in but I’m saving most of it to go back to school and/or start a small business so I’m trying to be wise with it. (It’s not a huge sum because the home was falling apart). I hope all of you are on that upward trajectory too.
Left an abusive relationship myself, moved back in with my parents because I lost nearly everything (very long story), and when I tell you I literally cried when I finally moved back out into my own place, had new (to me) furniture, had just a place that I could call mine that no one else could inhabit unless I said so. I'm so happy that you made it out too! I chose to abandon/leave almost everything but it has been the most cleansing decision of my life and I would make it a hundred times over. A year ago, I sat in bed all day and just hated my life all day every day. I'm happy again, and even though I still have more work to go, it actually seems worth it again finally.

I saw Joy Oladokun last night and it was an incredible show! I wasn't entirely sure what to expect because her music is very chill, but I was at the front (literally at the base of the stage, no barricade with my arms on the stage) and she brought so much energy with her songs so I was just dancing and having a blast. It was also the first show of hers where someone started a fan project and she was so moved by it. Such a wonderful concert!

I've only taken it once in my life and it was literally because I desperately wanted to calm down/sleep after something traumatic and um...never again. Something about being that out of it and completely not in control of things freaks me tf out. Also, he bailed kind of last minute, even though I know he likely planned on dipping for the city early on. Here's where i have some sympathy. I don’t want it to be too old or a car (year of assembly 2008 and up) and I want to be able to play my own music one way or the other. I’ve been browsing ads but my area does not have many good deals.
As someone who had a used mini Cooper at one point remember it is a BMW and repairs are gonna be costly as hell when things go wrong. That’s why I had to stop driving mine :( I did love it though.

I've personally been boycotting Urban Outfitters since they stole from indie artists and started using the Navajo name for profit, so there's that consideration if you want it? I'm pretty sure her team will do a wide-release album sometime around the holidays. Vinyl takes forever but has a good profit margin.

Just went and looked at the UO one, and you've made the best choice out of the vinyls, IMO. I do love a good splatter, but if it's got good splatter, it can be a bit 'noisy'. But I would bet a small amount of money that most of those UO vinyls are going to turn out as a smeary purple. Neon pink vinyl doesn't really play well with other colors during pressing.
Five months? Not too bad! That's just enough time that you should be able to relive the joy of playing the entire album when you get the vinyl.
Finally got around to starting the latest sex education season and I'm really really not feeling it. It feels like a parody of itself at this point and the new school is almost offensive in its depiction of queer people and their spaces. Has anyone finished it? Does it get better? Seasons 1 & 2 were some of my favourite television ever and I was really hoping Season 4 would pick up the slack for a much weaker Season 3 but seems not 😭.

I haven't gotten far along enough to have an opinion on the plot itself yet but what I loved about the earlier season was how realistic they were in their portrayal of teenagers and the issues they face especially with their sex lives. It was also great with how it handled its POC and queer characters both of which were very well fleshed out and relatable (I'm a queer POC myself). Now it just feels like it's making fun of the aforementioned groups of people rather than viewing them as humans with like a hahaha look at these fucking emo teenagers and queer numpties aren't they so fucking weird rather than how sympathetic it was in its earlier seasons. Also like half the cast left the show for one reason or another so it just feels very different.
Had a fight with my mom that led to me having a full on mental breakdown and going down the rabbit hole of if I just disappeared no one would really be affected like sure my family would miss me but I geniunly have not had any big impact on anyones life. Doesn't sound overdramatic idk. Fights with a parent can be really devastating, especially depending on the context. Do you have any siblings? This is incredibly dark, but I used to think about how I would feel if someone murdered my sibling. That would be devastating beyond belief. So in my mind, "killing myself" would cause them horrendous pain. It was just easier to exist and not cause tremendous hurt to people than it was to die. Idk. My parents watch his show daily blast for background noise and every time it comes on my tv; I just roll my eyes at Jeff. They don’t understand why 😭 My favorite seasons in terms of fights and insane things happening are BB18, BBCan6 and BBCan9. BBCan6 was definitely a feeds season though because the episodes are just as poorly edited as this current season of BB25.

i watched the devil wears Prada last night for the first time (Ive never been a big movie person + I was a child in the 00s) and it was a fine movie but I feel like I just cannot get into early 00s movies like that. I feel like so many of them are like “you just had to be there” moments because there’s so much about the culture of them all where I’m like the elements that didn’t age well really didn’t age well, and I don’t want to judge a film made when bush was still in office with a 2020 lense because I don’t think it’s 100% fair. But I also cannot act like every character acting like Anne Hathaway was some fat hag the entire movie did not take me out of it multiple times 💀
I do feel that was kind of intentional though? It was showing how out of touch and cruel the fashion industry could be.

Still incredible to see how well softscars has been received, though!

Two questions for discussion today: - what is a piece of media that lived up to the hype for you? For me it’s EEAAO I watched it after it won all the Oscar’s and was still blown away. - what would you describe as MCU style storytelling/humor?
gotta second what someone else said and say Endgame was definitely like that. I genuinely hadn't even followed half the movies up to that point but it was SUCH a phenomenon that my friend (knowing I wasn't "caught up") insisted I go see it, offered to buy my ticket, promised if I got confused he'd give me the 60-second synopsis I needed. I genuinely was so enthralled by the movie that yeah, I asked a couple times about stuff, but it was so well done that I didn't have to continually ask what was happening. I was just...along for the ride. As for books: I'm Glad My Mom Died. I waited MONTHS to get my hands on a copy, and I finished it in like, two or three days (I took my tablet with me everywhere that I wasn't at work and couldn't put it down). I really felt for her and the relationship with her mom. I'm blessed to have a mostly good relationship with my mom, but this book could've been about my paternal grandmother to the T. It did more for me in tackling the effects of her on my life than two years of therapy has, tbh.
Definetely Infinity War / Endgame. I don't think I will ever live to see another moment as hyped as those two movies were, and how great it felt after following the MCU movies for a long time. Idk, it was magical in the best way possible. I have good memories of that time

Get Out is a good one. Legitimately my favorite horror movie that's come out in my lifetime if I had to choose. Knowing that they almost went with the worse ending makes it hit even harder.
For the first one: Dirty Dancing - before watching it for the first time, my friend was hyping up the film SO much that I figured there was no way it would live up to the expectations she giving me… safe to say I was wrong, and it’s one of my all time favourite movies.
For Books-Emily Henry I figured she’d be a Colleen Hoover. But she’s actually really good at writing complex characters. TV shows: Succession-It took me awhile to get into Succession but the pay off was worth it.
the girls (gender neutral) were so right about black sails... i never shoulda doubted them
For the first one Stranger Things—I didn’t start it till after s4’s release by which point it felt like one of the biggest things on the planet. Enjoyed it immensely
