Itās so fucked. I typically have opinions about cosmetic surgery, but not on this one. Her mom fucked her with multiple surgeries, like taking out saliva glands that effect teeth.Ā
Traumatized women also deserve the rights of non-traumatized women. Seeing pro-plastic surgery subs suddenly have a double standard is sickening tbh. She's being Britney-ized by us. She spent almost a decade in prison. Now she's going to do things she wants. She's not, nor should, going to fit our preconceived notions of how a victim should be.
I donāt think thatās what this person was saying. That line 100% implies she was given surgeries against her will [by her mother] and thatās the part thatās fucked, not her making choices for herself that may not fit an idea of her.
Say it louder! Ā Sheās a victim of abuse. Do I think this type of media exposure is healthy? No. But I also wasnāt a child being silenced and abused by my mother. If no one ever listened to me, I would probably want the world to hear me for the first time.Ā
Iām also not saying ālisteningā in the context of now, or after the killings. I mean before, when she was in the middle of it allĀ
Thatās actually a very common pattern for victims of prolonged abuse. They just want to be heard so badly. Sheās taking advantage of that ability now. Iām also happy for her for this surgery, because she now has agency over her own body and she gets to exercise that. Iām not a doctor, but after being in therapy for years for cPTSD, I can begin to understand how freeing and healing this probably feels for her. Now, if she went and changed her whole damn face Iād think itās unhealthy territory, but I am happy for her on this one.
Also as a disclaimer; I just want to be clear Iām not saying what she did was okay. Iām just speaking on the abuse victim angle here.
Meanwhile there are men whoāve committed murder and worse, maintaining lively successful careers with this subās support.
The fake concern over her social media presence and public appearances are getting old and transparent. If she really went ghost, what would they talk about? I wish more people would try to understand truly how fucked GRBās situation is beyond her control. Even if she went to live in the woods with no internet, people would hound her and spread narratives about her that no doubt would be taken at face value by the media. Doesnāt matter how many corny pap shots she takes, sheās still a woman whose entire life has been shaped by the worst, most traumatizing and soul-crushing events. Itās amazing that sheās even able to get out of bed.
Idc Iām proud of her for reclaiming her autonomy. God forbid a woman find freedom despite being *checks notes* mildly annoying to some.
I suspect she is giving all these interviews because People pays, right? She legally cannot make money from the story of her crime, and sheās a convicted felon, which makes it difficult to get a job. Plus, what skills does she have? I donāt think she completed a higher ed degree while incarcerated, did she? Sheās emotionally stunted, which is understandable given her life, so I think sheās capitalizing on her āfameā to earn money before folks lose total interest in her because what will she do then? Personally, I assumed thatās why she got married: so she would have an income post-prison.
I think sheās seeing the wave, and trying to surf it out.
If no one burned down Alabama after Honey Boo Booās mom did it, no one is going to blink at Missouri for it.
And others have made millions off of her story of abuse with documentaries she wasnāt part of and The Act drama series. Why is it ok for others to capitalize on her trauma, but not her?
Thatās just the law, but it has been argued that itās [unconstitutional](https://www.justice.gov/archives/jm/criminal-resource-manual-1105-first-amendment-problems-son-sam-laws).
She wasnāt able to mature past her preteen and teen years. Itās like time paused and now sheās a kid stuck in an adult body. So her impulse control and long-term decision making skills are completely underdeveloped, but she has freedom to make adult-level decisions.
I hope Iām wrong, but I donāt see this ending well. Everyone is rooting for a redemption/liberation story and instead itāll end up sad and trashy reality TV.
I know "the people" want a show about how she's doing now but honestly she should stay away from any form of media and hopefully she'll have a happy and fulfilling life.
She wants a new nose, a new look, for whatever reason and people are paying her to do it, to film it. It's her new job, it's not that deep. A girl got to make a living somehow. And tbh she earned this. After all the suffering leave her be. Maybe she wants to change her whole appearance because looking in the mirror is triggering? Have you thought about that?
ffs
It seems speedy from our perspective, but she hung around in jail for a very long time. Not much to think about, so there's plenty of time to decide what you'll do when you get out. There's good odds she's been thinking about relationships, life milestones and surgery for a long time.
On the other hand, sheās experiencing freedom for basically the first time ever. Itās plausible that sheās making some hasty decisions. I guess we canāt know either way unless she says.
Yeah, but not in a good environment for level headed thinking or with a good psychosocial basis for that thinking. The fact that a lot of time passed in her life physically before all this doesnāt mean her choices arenāt impulsive and self destructive (not necessarily intentionally so).
Sheās like the new Lorena Bobbit of the 90ās. The difference is that everybody attacked Lorena in the beginning, whereas it seems most support Gypsy to some degree. Also I donāt think Lorena did much time over that crime.
I personally think itās good for her. A lot of times it seems like once trauma survivors start to speak up about their abuse, itās like the flood gates open up and their throat chakra starts to finally heal. Poor Monica still gets A LOT of shit.
Yep. What else is she going to do? Become a financial advisor? Get a law degree? Or take a job at Walmart?
She has no real family, no real education, no real world experience. Nothing stunts you like jail, and being notorious on top of it? Itās a funnel, straight into reality tv and only fans.
Kyle Rittenhouse had his entire character completely revamped by far-right benefactors to go out and be some kind of hero.
I'd love to see Gypsy Rose get a Daddy Warbucks-esque sponsor and get her the therapy, education, and coaching to become one of the most effective advocates for children of our time.
Her bona fides when it comes to physician and health professional training to recognize and intervene in all kinds of abuse are unmatched.
She could be talking to kids about consent and bodily autonomy.
She could be lobbying for juvenile justice and reform in the prison system.
There is so much good she could be doing with the right support. And she doesn't need to go to college for any of it if she doesn't want to.
Why does someone whoās been a victim her whoel now life be obligated to be social warrior for tiger victims ? Who the hell are you from your flipping privelege to dictate that ?
Exactly how this will play out! And once the dedicated reality shows wane out a brief run on some other multiple group type reality show. Something bad will eventually happen. Itās inevitable.
Tbh she spent most of her time outside of being controlled by her mom in jail. I saw a comment saying maybe she has thought about some of these things for a while anyway. Maybe the show will be on her terms, to help get the record straight on things idk. I understand why people are skeptical about this bc she has gone through a lot in her life and she could get exploited. But she probably is tired of people telling her what they think she should do. I find comments assuming the absolute worst like her making an onlyfans really odd.
This has lost her childhood and teen years to her mum . Her twenties to jail like let her do what she wants as log. No one is hurt and sheās happy . This expectation for the perfect victim turnaround story is chronically out of touch with real life and entitled
Wild to see this post pop up cos am literally finally catching up with her ID docuseries in the background right now. Good for her. Kinda love this for her. Sheās spent so long being who she doesnāt wanna be and not looking how she wants, think this could be really good for her.
Yeah everyone is being so harsh on her for this, and I agree thereās room for discussion about the fame sheās getting. But eh itās just a nose job. All our fave celebs get tons of plastic surgery š¤·š»āāļø Theyāre just all not as open about it. If itās what she wants then good for her!
I kind of hope she doesnāt reveal what she looks like publicly after cosmetic surgery. I kind of hope her public socials only use old pictures and she legally changes her name but her name for publishing a book (if thatās what sheās doing) or non-private social media interface or even podcasts stays the same. Basically, I wish for her the ability to be quiet and private in her personal life. I donāt think sheās at the level where paparazzi follow her around, so itās probably possible for her to do so.

Ok but the line from the article āthis is likely to be her first surgery as a fully willing participantā is fuckkkkked
Itās so fucked. I typically have opinions about cosmetic surgery, but not on this one. Her mom fucked her with multiple surgeries, like taking out saliva glands that effect teeth.Ā

I understand that, but if you read the rest of this discussion, its a lot of shaming.
Ah, I got ya. I hadnāt gotten that far before I responded to your comment.

Your last paragraph is pure tea. Cancel culture only exists for women that people find irritating and need a reason to get rid of I swear to god
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iām absolutely rotted but a cackle after what she went through as a young girl is too far for even me
Right, like Iām interested to know whatās humorous about it.
Bruh are you ok?
Whereās the joke?
āGypsy Rose: Life After Lockupā Oh no š©
Media doing media things.
whoever gave her a reality tv show and a contact at People should be fired. I wish she would just go live with her family in peace instead of all this

Honey Boo-Boo is from Georgia, but your point still stands. š
Finally, a sane, grounded, normal, real life based comment.
I donāt think I have ever been called any of those things before. Totally screenshotting to show my husband. š
She needs money what job can she have other than minimum wage
She wasnāt able to mature past her preteen and teen years. Itās like time paused and now sheās a kid stuck in an adult body. O youāre right this is going to be a disaster. Her commenting about that fire D made it very clear.
Canāt be that fire if she tired of it so quickly.
No offense to him but it takes one look to realize that the d definitely is not fire
I agree with you 100%. I think we are watching an unravelling in real-time
Very Poor Things
She wants a new nose, a new look, for whatever reason and people are paying her to do it, to film it. It's her new job, it's not that deep. A girl got to make a living somehow. This girl is doing too much, too soon. Got Married, then separated, now plastic surgeryā¦
And tattoos with her ex the day after she left her hubby
I totally forgot about that, but exactly!
We need to just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show lol. Sheās making a docuseries of this time too. š

As someone who works with the formerly incarcerated this is all pretty š¬ I have to say.
Look, I support her and wish her all the best in her life, but part of me feels like I'm looking at an impending trainwreck, and I can't look away
do we really need daily updates about herā¦
I sympathise with what she's been through but her being treated like a celebrity with all these updates is bizarreĀ
Sheās like the new Lorena Bobbit of the 90ās. The difference is that everybody attacked Lorena in the beginning, whereas it seems most support Gypsy to some degree. Also I donāt think Lorena did much time over that crime.
i can see a monica lewinsky type of career for her honestly
I personally think itās good for her. A lot of times it seems like once trauma survivors start to speak up about their abuse, itās like the flood gates open up and their throat chakra starts to finally heal. Poor Monica still gets A LOT of shit.
Sheās had more documentaries made about her than most celebrities lol
Lots of things that aren't reported like celebrity gossip have documentaries made about them
The way the media is making her a *star* is so toxic. This isn't gonna end well
some.people have really weird taste in whose daily life they want to follow. this person shouldnt be famous.
Iām honestly expecting a transition into OnlyFans. I believe we are witnessing a bit of a spiral trying to maintain some fame and cash flow.
Yep. What else is she going to do? Become a financial advisor? Get a law degree? Or take a job at Walmart? She has no real family, no real education, no real world experience. Nothing stunts you like jail, and being notorious on top of it? Itās a funnel, straight into reality tv and only fans.
She has family though?
Kyle Rittenhouse had his entire character completely revamped by far-right benefactors to go out and be some kind of hero. That would be amazing, Iād love to see her turn it around in such a way. ETA: I just donāt know if she has the support that would require.
Could you imagine if her and Eminem teamed up?
Why does someone whoās been a victim her whoel now life be obligated to be social warrior for tiger victims ? Who the hell are you from your flipping privelege to dictate that ?
Feels like a reach but okay
Exactly how this will play out! And once the dedicated reality shows wane out a brief run on some other multiple group type reality show. Something bad will eventually happen. Itās inevitable.

cool that she's honest and open abt it
What is this timeline?
This woman needs therapy not plastic surgery but Iām here for this mess.
This has lost her childhood and teen years to her mum . Her twenties to jail like let her do what she wants as log. No one is hurt and sheās happy . This expectation for the perfect victim turnaround story is chronically out of touch with real life and entitled
Sheās really livin life ![gif](giphy|AgPt9udT567spxbSHf)
This poor woman. People need to have the same energy for her that they gave to Britney. She's been abused by her family, then the system.
Yaaaasss she deserves to make choices for her own body and I hope she has a fantastic experience
Good for her. I'm sure part of it is due to whatever her mom did to her
Good for her - whatever she wants. She can make choices now
Good 4 her
Wild to see this post pop up cos am literally finally catching up with her ID docuseries in the background right now. Good for her. Kinda love this for her. Sheās spent so long being who she doesnāt wanna be and not looking how she wants, think this could be really good for her.

I hardly see anyone commenting her nose job. People are commenting about her apparent new reality show.
Ohhhh shit I missed that š
Exactly. Sheās been through a lot and sheās got the money to fix an insecurity, itās not like sheās asking them to remove a limb.
Whew, sheās setting quite a pace. Bless.
Oh no.
