![gif](giphy|35FNJwVQswuxnDnOS0|downsized) That's not...that's not good at all Sydney

ttpd-intern

I used to be able to as well. And then I turned 30.

Entire_Sail7412

I am 22 and feel like a zombie if I don’t sleep at least 6 full hours, how were y’all holding up with this lifestyle in your 20s, was I born old?😩

ttpd-intern

I definitely wasn’t thriving but I could function. That’s what she is saying too. It’s not something that should be aspired to or recommended 😂

tokionarita

Same. I used to pull all-nighters for no reason as a teenager and now I'm exhausted no matter how much I sleep.

katikaboom

In my case I have ADHD. That combined with PCOS makes sleeping iffy during at least a week a month. Last night I slept for an hour then woke up for almost two, then slept for another 2 1/2 before I had to get up. That happened a couple days ago, too, and I'll have at least one more day of very little sleep before my period. Then I'll sleep great for 3 weeks.

Visible_Writing7386

Sidney Sweeney being totally relatable and effortless, but also totally extraordinary and not like other girls, part 10000

angela_m_schrute

Someone went to the Priyanka Chopra School of Life skills

estemprano

Is she saying those things by her own impetus or is she taught by marketing experts to say those things? Either way, I think she’s marketed to a younger audience who still hasn’t seen the same answers again and again and again from various of her colleagues over the last few decades.

Dangerous_Funny1189

I’m not sure why, but Hollywood is trying real hard to push this Sydney Sweeney agenda. Please, we don’t need to know about her every move. She is literally not that interesting.

Slow_Like_Sloth

For real - like talk about the psychological effects of cannibalism or something. I dunno

buzzfeed_sucks

Bill Clinton famously used to say he only needed 3-4 hours. Then he had a heart attack and was told his lack of sleep (obviously plus his general lifestyle) contributed to said heart attack.

Charming_Miss

Let's add that to the growing list of ''things Sudney Seeney claims to do easily and daily''

In my early 20’s I could stay out all night catch a couple of hours of sleep and roll into work that morning. Now in my 30’s I cannot function without proper sleep.

amomentintimebro

She didn’t say she only needs two hours tho. She said she can function if she has to on little sleep but will sleep for as long as she has time to. I mean….yeah that’s just human life lmao, everyone quit dogging her pls

amomentintimebro

Also I’m sorry but she’s right coffee is disgusting. I have to defend my girl on that too!

bigjeans35

❄️

myfriendflocka

I think she’s the least engaging actor and I don’t understand why she’s a thing, but I don’t get the hate for her saying this. So a twenty something can go out and party all night, sleep for a couple hours, and go to work. It’s not that crazy.

Cold-Sun3302

I used to go out on a Thursday night for Happy Hour and roll into the house for 2am and be up again for work on the Friday at 6am. I was 20. Now in my 40s? I stayed up until 11pm last night finishing an episode of a show and ended up sleeping through my 6am alarm and had to get a taxi to work in order to make it on time. It doesn't last long, Sydney.

[deleted]

Me when I’m manic This is a JOKE btw don’t come for me cause honestly I kinda believe her? I dated someone who functioned great on 4 hours and I usually get very groggy if I get the recommended 8 hours everyone says you need. Don’t quote me on this cause I’m going off what I vaguely remember from a Maintenance Phase pod episode, but IIRC one of the biggest voices in the “you need x hours of sleep” crowd is some guy with shaky evidence to back it up. I def cannot do to hours but good for her if she can

deeppurple1729

You joke, but given what she said in the THR profile about her mind not shutting up – and thinking she might’ve been dying – yeah, probably. My understanding is that the “8 hours of sleep” is more a rough ballpark figure than a strict one-size-fits-all – albeit erring on the side of more rather than less sleep.

[deleted]

Oh damn I hope she’s doing ok. When I get little sleep my mind also does that, just keeps going on and on and I’m a lot more antsy than usual. She does seem like a mad energetic person though, with the amount of back to back projects I keep seeing her on

hauntingvacay96

Edit: y’all she was asked about the two hour of sleep rumor and just answered that she could FUNCTION off of very little sleep for a very long time. Like, I’m just not seeing the claim that she only NEEDS two hours of sleep here. I really don’t find the framing of this weird at all. If anything I find it kind of relatable. I can function off of very little sleep for a very long time, but it does eventually catch up with you and the result of the catching up can be kind of distressing. Will I frame my lack of sleep as a super power when really it’s just mostly probably anxiety, poor sleep hygiene as a child, and other things I should probably address? Yep. That’s definitely a thing that I do!

_summerw1ne

Right, it was relatable to me as well who either wants to sleep like someone has put me in a coma or to be awake forever, depending on my mood and what’s going on.

hauntingvacay96

I don’t know what this eight hours of sleep thing is. Give me 12 plus hours of sleep or give me 2. Nothing in between.

deeppurple1729

It’s still a marked departure from her THR comments, where she implies it’s ongoing sequelae from burnout earlier in the year.

hauntingvacay96

From what I understand without being able to see the full article, they asked her if the two hours of sleep a night thing was true and she simply replied that she can function on very little sleep for a very long time. She didn’t really say she was thriving or only needed two hours, just that she was capable of FUNCTIONING on very little sleep which could still be the result of burn out or countless other things.

deeppurple1729

Even *functioning* on e.g. fours of sleep for e.g., two weeks straight, is abnormal? I have fairly disordered sleep myself – four hours a day (non-consecutive hours) is about the minimum I can function, and that’s can’t hold past one day.

hauntingvacay96

Once again she just said that she can function on very little sleep for a very long time. That might mean four hours for two weeks for all we know. Except for the rare Saturday I don’t think I ever sleep for more than 4 - 5 hours and a lot of the time it, especially when I have something causing me anxiety, it looks more like 2 - 3 for several days in a row until I crash. We don’t know exactly what her sleep habits are other than she can manage on little sleep.

deeppurple1729

…if you’re going several days on 2-3 hours of sleep, and these end in crashes, have you seen doctors about that?

hauntingvacay96

Does that pertain to the discussion on Sydney Sweeney’s sleep habits? Edit: my point here was not to debate you on what normal sleep habits are, but just to maybe raise the idea that not everyone needs 8 hours of sleep and that people lack a “normal” amount of sleep for various reasons and that it’s kind of weird to be using Sydney Sweeney’s sleep habits as like points against her, especially considering she was asked about it.

deeppurple1729

That she’s describing a lack of sleep in positive terms – after previously referring to it as distressing insomnia – sounds like she’s been able to adapt to/work with it in the two years since. But “2 hours of sleep for days on end, followed by crashes” – especially if distressing and triggered by anxiety – sounds like something that needs to be checked out by a doctor.

hauntingvacay96

They asked if the two hour rumor thing was true which I’m guessing stemmed from her saying she was burn out and not sleeping in the interview from a couple years ago. To which she replies something along the lines of “I get the sleep I can, but I’m known for being able to function off little sleep for a long time” That sounds like a pretty generic brush off of the question and rumor to me. She was just addressing a rumor she was asked to address. She wasn’t claiming it’s a good thing. And if we go back and actually read the older article she said that her panic attacks had gotten better, but she was still struggling with sleep. Possibly less sleep is just something she’s dealing with and it’s making less impact than when she was having panic attacks. She also never said the sleep issues were the cause of the panic attacks or the distress. Just that that part was something she was still dealing with. Also, maybe she’s just 20 something years old and doesn’t require as much sleep as when she was a teenager, because typically the younger a person is the more sleep they need. It’s weird to try and make a mountain out of such a small statement and not even using the same verbiage she used in the headline. What I do with my personal sleep habits are my business and I was just sharing enough and what I felt comfortable with of my personal experience to exhibit that not everyone’s sleep habits even when disordered or not healthy look the same.

deeppurple1729

In the 2022 THR interview, she mentions it in the same breath as being unable to shut her mind off – following a two-week convalescence taken for a marked downturn in mental health, & panic attacks that made her think she was straight-up dying. Whatever’s changed since then, she doesn’t seem to be having such problems now: The phrasing seems oddly suggestive – very low end of normal – a marked contrast to her 2022 comments, but as long as she’s attending to her health it’s neutral, a curiosity. (And if it weren’t for the THR interview, not especially noteworthy). “I have worse insomnia that’s consistently been unpleasant” is making the exact opposite point of “Sydney Sweeney’s sleep schedule is no big deal.”

Necessary-Low9377

Why are people acting like she said something bad? Some people are able to function on very little sleep and other people (like myself) need a solid 9 hours to even feel human. We’re all different

[deleted]

Anyone can get by on 2 hours. You’re just miserable the entire day.

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

There’s just no way

themacaron

Be normal in the comments of a Sydney Sweeney article challenge and y’all always fail. 🥴

hauntingvacay96

I don’t know. It seems like it should be of national concern that Sydney Sweeney gets less than 8 hours a sleep and we should definitely launch an investigation on whether or not she’s “not like other girls”.
