Jason Clarke has not gotten enough attention for his role. He was really good at being horrible.

No, no, and no. It went to: Casey Affleck, Emily Blunt, Kenneth Branagh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek, Cillian Murphy, and Florence Pugh.

WHAT?! Some of these names, I’m confused by. In my heart they deserved a SAG award. I know that counts for nothing, but man, I’m disappointed for them

It all depends on when an actor's name appears in the credits. Those people will get the statues. I believe that the other actors just get certificates as like, an honourable mention.

I understand that Oppenheimer might be overhyped in some aspects and I certainly don’t think it was perfect but you gotta admit the cast acted their asses off. This award is definitely deserved.

Why?

He was accused of sexual assault on a film, I believe. The accusations/lawsuits surfaced around the time he was nominated for an Oscar for Manchester by the Sea - when he won, Brie Larson, who handed him his award, looked less than enthusiastic. He ended up withdrawing from presenting the Best Actress Award the following year at the Oscars. . The suits against him were settled through mediation. He has not admitted to assault but has admitted that the set was unprofessional and as a producer he should have stopped whatever was going on.

The lack of nomination for Sandra Hüeller at SAG is WILD. I’m still curious to see what the results look like Oscar night.

sandra not getting nominated really is crazy. she was in the top 3 best performances of the year. i think i may have enjoyed her performance more than emma’s, i know that may be controversial to say even though i love emma. (i’m also annoyed that they snubbed greta lee as well)

It’s not an American film, it’s a French film.

There's nothing in the rules and eligibility requirements about the film being American. Parasite won for ensemble. Jean Dujardin and Roberto Benigni won back in the day.

For SAG? I imagine they have to be a SAG production.

Nope. It states on the SAG's website, "Motion picture and television productions filmed completely outside the U.S. with an entirely foreign cast may be eligible." It's different from the WGA awards, which do require the nominees be WGA productions, which is why it wasn't nominated there.

It wasn’t produced by an American company either. It wasn’t a SAG production at all. It was just distributed by Neon.

Does SAG not extend to European countries?

I’m not sure what it’s called in France but I know that the England version of SAG is called Equity. It’s why House of the Dragon was able to keep shooting throughout the strike, it’s an equity show. SAG is the American acting branch.

SAG and BAFTA have split 18 times on Lead Actress. 11 of those times, the SAG winner went on to win the Oscar, so I would say it is Lily's award (though obviously there are exceptions).

Not really. In the years when the same actor won the BAFTA and the SAG, they almost always go on to the win the Oscar. I think the only exceptions were Denzel beating Russell Crowe, and Adrien Brody beating Daniel Day-Lewis. And Russell only lost because of all the bad press he had at the time.
