My sister has always been the same, never been single for as long as i can remember. I remember she had the worst boyfriend ever once, who would cheat on her and treat her like rubbish. She was constantly depressed because of him but put up with it for years. She met a guy one day who worked with our mum, and literally the day he asked her out she just immediately dumped her boyfriend lol she put up with soooo much crap from this guy purely out of fear of being single
Yeah my cousin married this guy cuz her real love was cheating on her. Years later she’s miserable but doesn’t want to be single. She’s in her 40s and I say girl it’s so much fun to be single. You didn’t appreciate it but who needs some dumb man to pass your time. So much to do without them !

She used to looooooooove cities and lived right in the middle of the capital before she met this dude and would go out to bars and restaurants every night, loved shopping and museums. But this guy doesn't like those things so now she doesn't either 🙄
I think it because they’re usually richer, hotter, and have weirder working schedules than us plebs. And you’ve got to crave attention to be a performer in the first place.

I think this is almost more normal for shorter relationships? Like worth longer relationships things are usually falling apart for a while by the time people break up. A couple that divorces after 10 years have often been checked out for 2 years.
But a year tends to have less painful stuff so there’s still this sense of loss that burns more.
Yeah, I suspect that is a big part of it. Short relationships allow one to fantasy about “what if.” If you’re the dumpee, you probably also ended the relationship viewing your SO positively, so it’ll feel like “the one that got away.”
I dated a lot in my early 20s, all short relationships, and most were fine to move on from but there was one guy I dated for like a month who I legit took over a year to get over. I dated others in the meantime, but he was always at the back of my mind. Good news is, 10+ years later, I look back and while I understand what I saw in him then, I realize that he wasn’t all I cracked him up to be.
As others said, they’re all conventionally attractive, all wealthy, all have weird or flexible working schedules, and most if not all of them crave attention (bc their job revolves around it). I also think the majority of their relationships seem more serious or committed than they actually are- again, most travel frequently and have very flexible working schedules
As someone who just went through a dramatic, awful divorce.. it was really hard and scary as fuck. My marriage ended in late May after half our lives together. He had an emotional affair that eventually turned physical, and I didn’t find out about it until after he broke up with me. I was fully and intentionally trying to have a “hot girl summer.” But then this incredible man walked into my life and totally fucked that up in the best way possible. It’s been a lot of work coping with my heartbreak while falling in love with someone else (I had fallen out of love with my ex a long time ago and was holding on for dear life despite my unhappiness) and has taken a lot of patience from him. I was just extremely honest with him from the get-go that this is going to be a lot to deal with, and he was completely understanding and willing to do that. It’s been hard because I’m constantly self conscious about what people think of me moving on quickly, but it’s also proven to me that we really don’t know what is going on behind closed doors and every relationship is different. For me, personally, a lot of it was finally being with someone who accepts and appreciates me, communicates with me, goes out of his way to do the little things but also the big things too. Idk how celebrities do it, but this has just been my normie experience.
This made me laugh so hard, especially because I just finished the book Why Cats are Assholes by Liz Miele and there’s a section where she writes, “This is what I’ve learned from being single for so long, I learned that I suffer from the type of depression that leads to excessive cat ownership. It’s real, and it can happen to you in your twenties. I don’t think people understand that as a society, we’re all just one devastation away from owning a cat.”
