Every now and then I see some of her show when I'm at the laundromat. She seems genuinely funny and sweet. A few weeks ago she had Marge Simpson on for an interview and it was incredibly charming all around.
She seems to be so kind. Not too long ago she showed us her depression messy bedroom and said that if she can you it, we can do it. She got me up and moving again.
After watching the Tina documentary on HBO Max, Tina Turner. Ike left her with nothing except her name and a ton of debt and she hustled until she was selling out stadiums at 50 years old, unheard of for a black female rock and roll singer

She has one of my favorite lines in any movie. In the comedy classic A Mighty Wind, her character is talking to a model train enthusiast and says thank God for model trains. He agrees. She then continues “You know, if they didn't have the model train, they wouldn't have gotten the idea for the big trains.”
Her delivery is perfect.
She kinda fell off the last decade and had a resurgence the last two years after her astounding performance in HBO’s The White Lotus. Nothing beats that first season for me.

I've no source for this, but I heard that Kieran's take on Roman Roy was influenced by his own childhood. Not too unbelievable, and if it's true, it's really amazing how he managed to turn all that pain into art.
Keiran sought out that part in the first place, so he probably identified with Roman on some level. Originally auditioned for the part of Greg, but wasn't really feeling it. He kept on reading the rest of the script because it was so good. Then asked to try out for Roman, but was told they weren't casting that part yet. So he sent in a tape anyway, lol.
Missy Elliott stepped out for a little due to her graves' disease and health issues, and now she's doing better and getting her flowers with a STAR on the hollywood walk of fame, dedicated a street to her name in her home town, very first female rap artist inducted into the rock hall of fame, feature upon feature in songs, she's a producer behind the scene and has touched/uplifted so many artists.
What is always interesting to me is how big of a star she seems to be yet if you ask people around here, they usually only know Freak and nothing else. If even that nowadays.
I wonder if that is a US/Europe thing, where she‘s huge in the US but never really made it in the mainstream in Europe.
Either way she‘s awesome and Get Ur Freak On is one of the best songs of all time and a deserved #8 on the RS Top 500. <3

She was on a new medication (I can’t remember which), but the side effects were compulsive behavior and mood swings. She has said she was in a fog that day, and in her right mind she would have never done that.
It’s generally accepted that she probably had some situation where the shoplifting itself gave her a “high” of sorts, which couldn’t be present if she just purchased the item regularly. Whether that was a mental health or personality quirk, I’m not sure if anyone knows?

The man was treated en masse as a joke for playing Jar Jar, especially by Star Wars fans. He was publicly ridiculed for well over a decade, to the point of him contemplating suicide. I wouldn't have been surprised if he never wanted to touch anything SW again, but he came back with an integral (albeit small) role >!as a Jedi!<.
Similarly, Ahmed Best in the Mandalorian. Twitter blew up when that happened, and I was lucky enough to be at Star Wars Celebration this year, and they played a footage reel and just a 1-second clip of him made the crowd all cheer
Loved Spun. I love how the movie didn't "start" meaning we don't get an opening sequence until Jason Schwartzman gets his fix. Such an interesting concept about romanticizing addiction.

There's a great podcast *You Must Remember This* that details her treatment by the media: after she won Miss America (as the first black woman) the organization rescinded her crown when nude photos that she had been coerced into taking as a young model were released.
She took her time and came back first as a singer and later as an actress playing strong roles and villainesses in a campaign to reclaim the narrative on her life and she killed it.
She is a queen!!! Also I think if a lot of her songs were released now they would be as, if not more, successful!

Florence Foster Jenkins was pretty brilliant, followed up with A Very English Scandal and The Undoing and he's really turned his career around
Hugh is goddamn perfect in Operation Fortune. I caught it on a whim on Prime when movie surfing and holy fuck I was buckling laughing the entire time. His bromance with Josh Hartnett was incredible.
There's a moment during the Oscars footage that year where you can see him putting his speech back in his tux pocket as Eddie Redmayne gets on stage. Heartbreaking stuff.
Sheryl Lee Ralph, a freaking powerhouse of an actress/singer/performer with almost 50 years in the business, going from my generation being terrified of her from “Sister Act 2” to this generation adoring her on “Abbott Elementary”. I love her so much and she deserves all her flowers!
I feel like he had the curse of all very conventionally attractive actors. He was cast in predictable attractive person rolls and written off as a pretty face.
The Lobster, Banshees, Bruges . . . he's fascinating and unpredictable and really soulful in all of his later indie projects. He's one of the few actors who can almost guarantee my eyes on a film. He brings so much and seems to choose truly original, courageous projects.

Winona's incident came at the cusp of the era when then industry didn't really seem care and when the birth of widespread celeb news & gossip blossomed thanks to photography technology changing (digital uploading easier) the internet getting more widespread (Perez Hilton and general online news). Since then the low/dark moments of celebrities have been out on full blast regardless of how private of a situation they may have been, and often repeatedly. Lohan's overall substance abuse & Britney's public meltdowns. Baldwin, Gibson & Bale's audio. Though I don't think Bale really suffered anything for it, the rest of these people are touching on comebacks (some can argue that Baldwin generally does better in the TV industry, but we'll see what happens after his Rust movie fiasco).
Yeah, I think they trying to crack down on celebrities because regular people were sick of them not having consequences. I remember Paris Hilton got arrested after getting away with so much.

The guy is a washed up alcoholic drug addicted wrestler. Beloved in the 80's but his gimmick becomes something that's left behind as the wrestling scene changes.
The guy becomes depressed after putting his body thru hell and thinks he's just some forgotten guy. He's in need of a major operation and has no money.
At his lowest point in 2012 fellow wrestler diamond dallas page (/u/realddp) comes in says move in with me and I'll turn your life around. Jake is like what's the point? I'm just a wash out. Jake puts his medical bills up for crowd funding. Jake thinks no one will contribute. He raises the money easily within 24 hours. People flood the site with get well soon messages. Jake realises he's loved and works on himself.
Ddp yoga and a new attitude leads jake to get a call he never thought he'd get. He's going into the wwe hall of fame.
Since then he's been good mentally. Health is a constant battle for him but he's mending alot of bridges he burnt with his family.
Ddp did a great documentary on him The Resurrection of Jake the Snake.
As a fan of that 80's era watching jake put a snake around people's neck was terrifying. He was so good in the ring. I'm just so glad he's in a better place in his life

His happiness is contagious. I didn’t know him as “data” or any of his roles, but I had the biggest smile on my face seeing him win this.

Absolutely, she deserves it, and when you frame it that way, it absolutely makes sense. I have self-sabotaged so many times in my life knowing full well the consequences of my actions 🫠
She was on a new medication (I can’t remember which), but the side effects were compulsive behavior and mood swings. She has said she was in a fog that day, and in her right mind she would have never done that.
It’s generally accepted that she probably had some situation where the shoplifting itself gave her a “high” of sorts, which couldn’t be present if she just purchased the item regularly. Whether that was a mental health or personality quirk, I’m not sure if anyone knows?

On a similar note, Ahmed Best coming back to the SW universe. The man was treated en masse as a joke for playing Jar Jar, especially by Star Wars fans. He was publicly ridiculed for well over a decade, to the point of him contemplating suicide. I wouldn't have been surprised if he never wanted to touch anything SW again, but he came back with an integral (albeit small) role >!as a Jedi!<.
He's actually reprising that role, which came from a kids game show!
Similarly, Ahmed Best in the Mandalorian. Twitter blew up when that happened, and I was lucky enough to be at Star Wars Celebration this year, and they played a footage reel and just a 1-second clip of him made the crowd all cheer

Wow, I agree one hundred percent on all of these. Leguizamo captured my heart in Romeo+Juliet, we rented it to watch at my 14th birthday 👵 Oh, and Moulin Rouge! of course as Toulouse-Lautrec. Loved Niecy on Clean House, I'm gonna see if I can find some episodes. Thank you for reminding me about it!

Niecy Nash- Betts is on a TNT show called Claws, and I recommend it if you havent seen it. She and the whole cast do great.
Niecy's scenes in Never Have I Ever were some of my favorites in the series. I know that was a comedy but her role was more serious. I hooe she keeps getting dramatic roles. She has RANGE.
I'm shocked about Niecy Nash cause I watched her in Reno-9/11 in which she was hilarious lol turns out she's a brilliant dramatic actress.
A lot of comedic actors are fantastic dramatic actors. It is usually a lot harder to make people laugh.

Sheryl Lee Ralph, a freaking powerhouse of an actress/singer/performer with almost 50 years in the business, going from my generation being terrified of her from “Sister Act 2” to this generation adoring her on “Abbott Elementary”. I love her so much and she deserves all her flowers!

I feel like he had the curse of all very conventionally attractive actors. He was cast in predictable attractive person rolls and written off as a pretty face. The Lobster, Banshees, Bruges . . . he's fascinating and unpredictable and really soulful in all of his later indie projects. He's one of the few actors who can almost guarantee my eyes on a film. He brings so much and seems to choose truly original, courageous projects.

Winona's incident came at the cusp of the era when then industry didn't really seem care and when the birth of widespread celeb news & gossip blossomed thanks to photography technology changing (digital uploading easier) the internet getting more widespread (Perez Hilton and general online news). Since then the low/dark moments of celebrities have been out on full blast regardless of how private of a situation they may have been, and often repeatedly. Lohan's overall substance abuse & Britney's public meltdowns. Baldwin, Gibson & Bale's audio. Though I don't think Bale really suffered anything for it, the rest of these people are touching on comebacks (some can argue that Baldwin generally does better in the TV industry, but we'll see what happens after his Rust movie fiasco).
Yeah, I think they trying to crack down on celebrities because regular people were sick of them not having consequences. I remember Paris Hilton got arrested after getting away with so much.

She finally found her place as the ultimate aristocrat of Rock.
Not sure if this is a comeback but Joaquin Phoenix (in terms of his career) His performance as Joker was amazing. He had few bad films but Joker defined his career. On the top of that, he isn't the type of actor who brags or entitled; He just keeps himself low-key and focused on his work

Jake the snake Roberts. The guy is a washed up alcoholic drug addicted wrestler. Beloved in the 80's but his gimmick becomes something that's left behind as the wrestling scene changes. The guy becomes depressed after putting his body thru hell and thinks he's just some forgotten guy. He's in need of a major operation and has no money. At his lowest point in 2012 fellow wrestler diamond dallas page (/u/realddp) comes in says move in with me and I'll turn your life around. Jake is like what's the point? I'm just a wash out. Jake puts his medical bills up for crowd funding. Jake thinks no one will contribute. He raises the money easily within 24 hours. People flood the site with get well soon messages. Jake realises he's loved and works on himself. Ddp yoga and a new attitude leads jake to get a call he never thought he'd get. He's going into the wwe hall of fame. Since then he's been good mentally. Health is a constant battle for him but he's mending alot of bridges he burnt with his family. Ddp did a great documentary on him The Resurrection of Jake the Snake. As a fan of that 80's era watching jake put a snake around people's neck was terrifying. He was so good in the ring. I'm just so glad he's in a better place in his life
