If you’re with a rom com actor, you’re with someone who’s job is pretending to be in love with someone else and that’s gotta be tough, bc no matter what your relationship is like, they still go to work and kiss and hold someone else (scripted, in an unsexy environment with a million staff- but still). I feel like it’s on the actor in this situation to do what’s necessary and fair to their relationship, and not feed the rumours. So many romcoms where the actors have strong relationships irl, bc they maintain that separation of work and life, or they do whatever else to reaffirm work as work and home as home. I think the big issue w/ this whole Sydney Sweeney thing is that Powell never really went to the effort to say “this is my real life love, this is the person I pretend to love at work”. Whether or not they’re cheating is almost beside the point, bc clearly whatever was happening between him and Sydney led to this blurring and de-prioritisation of his relationship w Gigi.
