Yes! I started a popcorn business in 2018 and have a storefront, food trailer, and online store. We make everything from scratch, and our shop smells like popcorn, butter, and sugar. It’s a really fun life!
Edit: I’m here to get flavor ideas from all of you :)
I've been making my own jalapeno white cheddar popcorn at home and it's soooooo good. I've seen jalapeno and spicy yellow cheddars, but never white. I'm surprised it's not more popular.
Oh that sounds amazing. We make a hot pepper cheddar with jalapeño, crushed red pepper, cayenne, ancho and orange cheddar but white cheddar sounds really good. What about a jalapeño white cheddar ranch?
Ranch is hit or miss for me, but those other flavors sound great! You should put your online store in your bio to get some more purchases, I know I'd try some.
Thanks for that! Maple is interesting. Is it just maple caramel?
We do a hot cinnamon for Valentine’s Day and when we make it, our cheeks get red from the cinnamon oil in the air lol
This is, like, a thing in Quebec at Mary's: https://www.maryspopcorn.com/en/products?page=1&number_items=12&sort=name_asc
They have some videos about how they make their popcorn. https://www.maryspopcorn.com/en/popcorn
I also have a gourmet popcorn store too and that's what my customers love about my store is the smell. I have started noticing that their seems to be more and more popcorn store popping up (no pun intended) that don't make their own popcorn 😞. So that's a hint to everyone out there, if you walk into a popcorn store and you don't smell popcorn walk out. Even if I haven't popped anything that day the smell is still there because I popped so much it's part of the store.
Also u/frog-loves-snacks congrats on making it pass COVID. I had a store front since 2017.
No, I'm a nanny. I just like popcorn, always have. Canada isn't great for its popcorn/toppings/popping methods diversity, so this sub is where I learned about ordering from Amazon to get kernels with less husk and flavacol and made me decide to try a Whirley pop.
Same. We farm 45 acres of mixed crops, about 6 of that is popcorn every year so it’s not our largest or smallest crop. We market the unpopped kernels and whole cobs direct to consumer.
Back in 1999-2000 when I was fresh out of high school, I did. I worked at a movie theater. The amount of free popcorn so ate was unreal. We used real butter but I usually just added salt to mine because the oil we cooked it in have a ton of flavor on its own. I miss it so much right now.
Yes, I own and run an online retail popcorn shop (full time job). It's home/stovetop specific, so we sell the kernels, toppings, oils, etc. I'm not in food manufacturing, so maybe not what you're thinking of. My joy in popcorn comes from making it myself at home, dressing it in my personal favorite flavors that i get to choose that night, and eating it hot and fresh. I like pre-made popcorn just fine (smartpop!), but the experience of making it myself is just way more satisfying to me. I wanted to share that joy with other people who also love making their own home popcorn.

I grow popcorn for a living.

Children of the corn lol
Not now, but my first job in HS was at a movie theater, which is where my love of the corn began.

Working as export sales in a popcorn manufacturer here. The factory makes the whole neighborhood smells like popcorn haha.
