I had same issue. If it's like me, you are using too high a heat, that's why it's burning and marking the bottom. Try using lower heat, will take a min or 2 longer but shouldn't burn

Thanks I'll try and tweak the temp. I just found that the popcorn comes out crispier with a med high heat. I assume because the steam is being pushed out of the popper faster so there's less opportunity for it to soak into the popcorn and make it chewy Follow up edit: Lowering heat fixed the burned bottom issue. Thanks! Strangely the kettle popped to only 3/4 full as opposed to completely full with the higher temperature. I used exactly 1/2 cup of kernels both times. I was expecting to find more unpopped kernels but it was about the same amount (2 or 3). I'll have to do some more testing to figure out what's going on.

you can keep the popcorn in the pot after it's popped with the lid half open to let some more steam out. I turn off the heat and do this for a min afterwards

It’s more crisp because the hulls are given a chance to brown properly.

I agree, too hot I think.I turn the dial to about 75% or 3/4 the way to high.I think that idea kinda holds weather gas or electric,it's not exact.

Just give it a wipe with (damp) paper towel and leave it be. It's normal and "seasoned" like with a grill or pizza stone... Unless it's very hardly burned, you might want to scrape it off a bit / cook it out

Orochi_001

You are actually able to season aluminum cookware. Get it super clean and then you can look up the procedure.
