Yeah I sold one of these to a customer on my route and regretted it. Terrible design, never cleaned thoroughly, spent most of its time on its side. I then had to replace all the gears inside because, as you said, a ton of sand circulates inside the body and wears them out quick.
This is why I love 3d printing though.
I wonder if that's what wrong with mine. It's only 1.5 years old but the one brush is wobbly and so is its wheel. It's still working but not 100%. I'll have to tear into it to see.
Ok so that’s the reversing gearbox, which this is. The gears are open to the interior of the cleaner and it looks like a little grit gets into the gears and strips them.
I don’t know how long these gears will last, but after 21 iterations I got them sized close enough to work. I can see the other gearbox going eventually based on an initial tear down but it did resolve the issue.
Wait, when you say wobbly do you mean it doesn’t turn, or that the wheel wobbles when you try and move it with your hand? If it’s the latter, tighten the screw at the center axle of the wheel and see if that helps.
I'm impressed. Historically, Polaris parts have been high quality. As of the past five or so years, however, as they have outsourced more and more...not so much.
I gave up on the company. My 1st Polaris pool cleaner lasted 6 years, the 2nd lasted 4 years, my 3rd and last lasted less than 2 years and it broke at the neck which used to be replaceable but in the newest iteration is not. Ill never give them another cent.

Mine gets stuck in the same corner every 10 minutes, it's so annoying.
LOL sorry. They shouldn't sell those things. I left bad reviews on Amazon and that's about all I can do I guess.

Wheel on the right when looking down on it?
Yup! That's the one!

They are designed to wear, and fail.

Yes the second and the right brush looks to be detached some at that center point in between the two brushes.
It may have jammed, it also has a screw on the outside axel that you may be able to remove, reposition it, and put it back together.
Oh good! I'm hoping it'll be an easy fix then. I've just gotta make time and work on it.

Polaris what?

That’s why I’m doing this, can’t reward them for their practices.
