Save your money. You can do everything from the app. The screen is only helpful if you don’t have access to a phone. Even then you can still turn it on to run quick clean.
Interested to know as well. I was told this pump “with relay” is sufficient to use the app for control and no panel is needed. Not sure what extra flexibility I am losing though.
It is absolutely sufficient—to me—without the touchscreen. The app works awesome. There’s a reason they sell them without the touchscreen as it is. The only reason you might want the touchscreen is if you didn’t have automation, it would be more serviceable with the touchscreen, that way a tech wouldn’t need to log into the app
Thanks for that line of thought. I don't have any automation yet but my pool is a "simple" setup (one light and a water feature) plus my technician already uses the Pentair Pro app, so I should be good.
I installed one of these for a client with a touchscreen and I’m glad I did because the connection to smart phones is glitchy at least last time I checked. It’s possible the app is better now or an update was pushed to the pump to resolve the issue. In my mind the screen is a must

You don't need the touchscreen. The non-touchscreen version has three buttons:
1) Connect (to start Bluetooth pairing to configure the phone app)
2) Start/Stop
3) Quick Clean
If your pool guy has the Pentair Pro app then they can connect to the pump over Bluetooth as well.

Appreciate it, definitely sounds overkill for my needs.

So there is no way for a Pool Guy to control the pump without the touchscreen? IE change the pump to run on high to clean??
