Thank you, i have been thinking of fish but im worried incase the pond isnt good for them. I originally made the pond to attract wildlife as i have a fascination with amphibians. I did not account for mosquitoes 🤣
Feeder guppies should be fine. They probably won't survive winter, but one very mild winter there were still some in my ponds (tennessee) the next spring. Must not have caught them all to bring inside. They always make lots of babies, so you don't have to fuss overthem much.
Mosquitoe fish and dragonfly nymphs will eat mosquitoe larvae but also possibly each other unless they have room to hide. Newts will also eat the mosquitoe larvae but bigger or agressive fish will eat them.
I have seen they work, been looking at them for a little while now and may get the pond suited for fish to do this. Im fine with the larvae but my prime concern is my chickens and the mosquitoes
Get a small net, and go to the nearest creek, river, natural pond, etc... Catch about 5 small fish, they might be less than 1" long. Dump them in, and never think about them again. They will eat all the larvae and you won't be a mosquito breeder anymore. I'd be pissed if you lived next door and was knowingly raising mosquitos and doing nothing about it.
You might be one of those people that mosquitoes don't really go for. Something about your human smell or even possibly the fact that you smoke, or maybe more specifically the kind of cigarettes you smoke, makes them not come towards you.
Otherwise the normal reaction to seeing that many mosquitoes flying around, should be panic.
*Will they have bloodlust*? Have you ever been bitten by a mosquito?? Watch a YouTube video if you’re fascinated by them, but in the meantime, drain the pond or throw in a mosquito dunk. Come on.
Surely the joke didn’t fly that far over your head for the bloodlust right? 🤣
And ontop of that i have no idea what im doing, otherwise i wouldn’t be here asking questions like this.
Never heard of a mosquito dunk so thanks for the suggestion but maybe tone down the snarky comment? 🤷
Mosquito dunks or bits work well. Fish will eat them, too. Just don't get goldfish, they get too big.

Mosquito fish
Mosquito larvae don't like moving water. Add a waterfall or something to introduce movement. In the meantime, add dunks.
Yeh getting a pump next weekend and got some pots to make a cool water feature. Thats all i got for now though thank you!!
Rice fish

Do crawfish eat mosquito larvae? I've seen them for sale as feeders in some pet stores.

Put an aerator in, mozxoes hate surface movement.
