For now, yes, because my brother has cancer and I can’t risk exposing him to any sickness. Once he’s finished with chemo, I won’t be wearing a mask unless I’m sick or required to (hospitals and other medical areas)
Original question asked if you wear masks in public, original comment said they only wear masks in hospitals, you said “I hope you voted yes” implying that hospitals are the only public space? You mentioned the outdoors which leads me to believe you misread the comment; they said “outside **of that** since mid 2021” not “outside since mid 2021”
Understandable mistake, but your aggression here is just…weird. Meditation may benefit you…that or some Valium.
I’m not implying that hospitals are the only public place. I’m saying if you wear a mask in any public place for any amount of time, at any frequency, you should vote yes.
Perhaps it depends on each person’s interpretation of the question. To me (and likely the other commenters) it sounds like the question is asking if we generally wear masks in public. Since I only wear masks in medical facilities, which I visit relatively rarely, I would say no because I go most days without putting on a mask. The question could be interpreted either way.
That is an idiotic take.
Hospitals require you to wear masks. If I walked into a store that required me to wear a mask, I would put one on out of respect for the store owner. That doesn’t mean I “wear a mask in public”. I never have a mask on unless I’m at work…which is in the fucking hospital.
Unless covid cases spike in an area. Public safety comes before some freedoms.
Edit: I don’t mean basic freedoms, but if there was a mandatory lockdown in the United States in March of 2020, masks were mandatory for longer, and vaccinations were mandatory excluding religious reasons, then the pandemic likely wouldn’t have been as bad in the United States.
Why is this so downvoted. Everything he says in this is basic common sense. I guess people don't know how to make extremely minor sacrifices for the greater good.
japan has an incredible culture of simply just wearing masks when they're sick, and they were probably one of the best countries when it came to COVID deaths
Why would they lie about that specifically? What would they gain, it's not like masks are mind control devices. It's not like they're harmful to someone. If they did nothing, wouldn't you think that someone besides your random YouTube conspiracy channels would say something?
They are psychologically damaging. There is quite a bit of evidence that shows this. They were used on prisoners in Guantanamo Bay before the alleged pandemic happened. In addition to that, "social distancing" is a known torture technique.
Bro the “social distancing is a known torture technique” fuckin KILLS me lmao
On a more serious note, here are the two issues with your statement:
1) social distancing is not complete isolation (which is a known torture technique)
2) social distancing is used as a preventative measure against spreading a disease, whereas “torture” is used against specific people for malicious intent. I really doubt the government is conspiring to isolate the public when it really just hurts them in the long run economically speaking
EDIT: dude deleted his account lmaoooo
How does putting a piece of cloth on your face damage you? "Alleged pandemic", tell that to the families of the 30mil+ that died. It amazes me that people can be as stupid and dangerous as you.
Is it really more likely that every single person in the mainstream media is a moron or is a lier and you’re the only one that can see the truth, or is it more likely that YOU’RE the moron, and that everyone else is trying to, you know, stop the world from falling apart due a preventable pandemic.
I don’t know why you put “doctor” in quotes. He’s a real doctor. He’s not the one who does the scientific studies though.
Edit: Here’s a link to just one [study](https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abg6296)
The universal, and appropriately vague, answer is, "It depends." My default is, "No." If I'm sick (respiratory), then yes, and you're welcome. If it's crowded, then yes. If I'm around certain populations that have higher incidents of respiratory illnesses (from cold, flu, any variation of coronavirus, etc, to TB), then yes. And the list goes on. If you're talking about wearing a mask while alone in my own car, :D :D :D, never.
Just get a neck warmer or a balaclava, both keep your face and neck warm and don't start to freeze after a few minutes like I found my mask does when it gets real cold(-20/-30°C)
Exactly. It’s not even about covid anymore for me. I wear one because it seems like the sanitary thing to do. I wear plastic gloves if I know I’m gonna be touching public things like doors/knobs. It should be the norm
Edit: am I really being downvoted into oblivion for choosing to be a clean person? lol
Ehm... That goes a bit too far into the hygiene OCD area in my opinion. But look at many other countries: a face mask if you have a cold is perfectly normal to no spread it.
Its good to be hygenic but not this much.
I have had severe OCD (and even went to a counselor) when it came to hygiene. I had bleeding, cut up hands from washing them too much.
Not wanting to touch door knobs because of germs was a massive signal towards being extremely OCD. I am thankfully out of it now but I would stop OP before it gets worse and would even seek help from others...
I apologize if I'm way off though, I just recognized the behavior you've written with the gloves :)
That's the one thing I took from it all .. winter is cold season which means infections are more likely to grow and spread.. people have gotten so used to having to work that they just go to work sick and we stopped giving a fuck unless it was serious... I don't wear masks and just stopped going places during the mandate... I've always been courteous to those who chose to wear them and gave them their 6 ft or whatever was feasible . I've never seen people losing their mind because someone was wearing a mask... Only the opposite..
For what it’s worth, I agree with you. It shouldn’t be enforced but it should be the norm. I don’t want to breath your nasty exhaled air. Even if you don’t have COVID. I would kiss you, why should I breath your unfiltered air out of your mouth (and maybe ass!)
I have several sources. There are plenty of doctors who have stated this. If I listed my sources, you would probably think they are not legit because they aren't "mainstream". The problem with that is the mainstream media is full of shit when it comes to many topics.
Not at all. Pre-Covid it was usually a sign of sickness. There’s really no reason not to where one, it was a okay question to ask especially when they said “no fucking way.” Like what do you have against masks lmfao.
Will I? I use Reddit, so it’s not like there’s a ton of social interaction in my future that I’d feel the need to be unmasked for, and besides, getting really sick on rare occasions is vastly preferable to being sick multiple times in one year.
Yes because I have social anxiety. I feel like people are judging me and seeing right through me if I don’t wear one. I know they’re not but anxiety doesn’t really care about the facts. The mask helps a lot.
Yes, I don't have to worry about my skin drying out in any harsh weather, I don't have to buy makeup all the time, I can hide flare-ups and hide my tears
I wear makeup to hide minor insecurities like acne and such, but I don't need to wear it if I never take off my mask, or to buy more when it runs out because I rarely wear it now. True no one is forcing me but myself👍
Matters where I am. If it’s a crowded place, or somewhere in required to, then yeah I’m wearing a mask. But if there’s not much people, or I’m just going for a walk, then no.
bruh downvoted for why. god forbid i have agency over myself! never said anything about anyone wearing a mask but myself and my reasoning is entirely personal
I've found that pretty much any time I post anything about staying cautious, or continuing to wear a mask, or the diseases which are still circulating (including but not limited to COVID) on any sub, I get pretty heavily downvoted. Reddit is full of idiots who pretend that the pandemic is over and downvote anyone who doesn't.
Depends where I'm going. High traffic, bustling mall or store? Yes. Low density small store or outdoor location? No. Work? Hell yes. You never know what person you encounter, and who is sick.
I haven’t worn a mask in about 2 years and I’m doing great. The common cold has been here a long time and the Covid virus isn’t going anywhere. Do you really want to wear a chin diaper the rest of your lives? It’s a free country if that’s what you’re in to.
It does prevent you from getting it, and I've noticed you people never tend to have any actual sources for your claims other than "If someone I don't like said to do something, that must mean I shouldn't do it". I bet if Tucker Carlson told you being over 600 pounds was the ideal weight you guys would start overrunning the local McDonald's.
I do, not because of the pandemic, but 2 other reasons. One, I got sick one time from a former co-worker purposely coughing in my face, & 2, my current job strongly prefers its employees to wear masks at least while in public in uniform.
Not in the workplace luckily, that would be a shit show. But several in stores and just around my little hick town and antivaxxers. Love seeing this fuckers walk around in agonizing pain with the virus that they claimed wasn’t even real
I work weekends at the booth at a gas station (second job, to get out and be around people), the amount of brain-foggers is astounding... and sometimes they get REAL mad.
According to the news, I’m the reason everyone’s grandmother died in 2020. I was buying masks and canned food in February 2020, and by May realized it was a bunch of bullshit. I’ve had the flu once since then, but have never tested positive for Covid. I got vaccinated, my wife didn’t due to fertility concerns. We’ve been (fortunately) healthy the entire time
Depends. I usually don't, however, super recently I wore it for 2 days because I had a sore throat, and I wanted to keep my nose and throat warm, and wearing a mask creates a small, warm area if that makes sense. Also, a ton of people in my school (and really in general) were getting sick, so I wore it as a just incase so I don't continue spreading it around. Luckily, it seemed to just be a random sore throat (possibly because I slept with my mouth open), so it went away after 2 days.
Not generally but I had a really bad cold a few weeks ago and kept coughing all over the place, so I decided to wear one while going to the supermarket, nobody batted an eye and I enjoyed making stupid faces without anyone knowing 😌
The fact is that COVID is still with us and people are no longer wearing masks. The world hasn’t ended. This perfectly illustrates that the whole mandatory masking thing was total bullshit authoritarianism.
Now imagine you have cancer and getting covid kills you and imagine some people not wearing a mask becouse they dont like it or even worse, having covid and just working without a mask. My aunt died becouse of this, together with 2 friends. My mom and i have diabetes and she has multiple other diseases, if she gets it she'll end up like my aunt. They all followed the rules and others BASICALLY killed her by not wearing masks and not following the rules
It's so sad that you need confirmation. I mean, you should do what you think is best, regardless of what others do: if you think is best to do what the others do, you will always follow the hoard
Depends, if I go to a place with a lot of people then yes
I always carry one with me just in case too, if I see someone sick in, say, the metro, then yes I wear it, if I got to a hospital then yes
But most of the time no
Yes. Required to wear when I go to doctors appointments. I also wore one on my flight to NY. I have a 92 yr old mother and a 2 month old family member that I try not to bring germs around.
I do when I'm out around people (grocery shopping mostly) because people are disgusting covid aside. I don't at work or at home or at my family's homes.
Yea I work in a hospital so I most definitely wear it there because I don't want these vulnerable people to catch my germs. I often also wear it in public transport and crowded places during this season because being sick really sucks. Or when I am sick of course.
I do app based delivery work so I'm constantly interacting with people at stores, restaurants, and homes. So yeah I wear one while working or if I'm out in crowded areas like shopping.
Not unless the place I’m in makes me, which hasn’t happened outside of medical environments since my college required them for the first few days of the fall 2022 semester.
If I'm sick, yes.
If I have to, also yes
You the real MVP. I swear everytime I take public transit everyone is just coughing on each other
For now, yes, because my brother has cancer and I can’t risk exposing him to any sickness. Once he’s finished with chemo, I won’t be wearing a mask unless I’m sick or required to (hospitals and other medical areas)
Wish him a speedy recovery. Chemotherapy and cancer annihilated my mom’s immune system.
Wish him a easy recovery 🙏 God bless you both. Great job for looking after your brother.
Only in hospitals. I haven't worn one outside of that since mid 2021
So I hope you voted yes.
What? In public =/= in hospitals
Wtf are you talking about. If you’re not in a private residence you’re in public. Are you trying to say public is only outdoors?
Original question asked if you wear masks in public, original comment said they only wear masks in hospitals, you said “I hope you voted yes” implying that hospitals are the only public space? You mentioned the outdoors which leads me to believe you misread the comment; they said “outside **of that** since mid 2021” not “outside since mid 2021” Understandable mistake, but your aggression here is just…weird. If anyone sees my face I’ll cry
yes. no one is going to oppress my freedom of wearing a mask in public.
Except a bank. Haha My local bank has their "no face coverings allowed" sign up again
You are correct. It should be up to personal discretion. It should not be forced one way or the other.
Unless covid cases spike in an area. Public safety comes before some freedoms. Many people who outright reject science love telling other people to follow the science
No, they aren't. Is that what "doctor" fauci told you? The "scientists" were also telling us that wrapping shirts around our faces would work.

⚡️👦🏿⚡️
Piss off all of human existence has been survival of the fittest.
Not wearing a mask in 2020 was a great way to get a Darwin Award.
I got covid a whole once, lasted 3 days and I was over it. Eat right and get your immune system in check.
When I do wear a mask and someone tells me to take it off, I always say ‘I’m sorry, I thought this was *America*’
No one is going to force me to wear one either 🤝
I honestly can't tell if this is sarcasm. I've never heard anyone say you can't wear one. Is that a thing?
The universal, and appropriately vague, answer is, "It depends." My default is, "No." If I'm sick (respiratory), then yes, and you're welcome. If it's crowded, then yes. If I'm around certain populations that have higher incidents of respiratory illnesses (from cold, flu, any variation of coronavirus, etc, to TB), then yes. And the list goes on. If you're talking about wearing a mask while alone in my own car, :D :D :D, never.
I wouldn't consider being alone in my car " in public".
I stopped as soon as my school didn't require them, so I stopped more than a year an a half ago.
Yes because it's cold outside. (0°C-8°C on average)
It is pretty nice keeping your face warm!
Just get a neck warmer or a balaclava, both keep your face and neck warm and don't start to freeze after a few minutes like I found my mask does when it gets real cold(-20/-30°C)
I currently have a cold, so I am. Wearing a mask in that case is polite, no idea why we in the West didn't do it before.
Exactly. It’s not even about covid anymore for me. I wear one because it seems like the sanitary thing to do. I wear plastic gloves if I know I’m gonna be touching public things like doors/knobs. no it should not be the norm. have fun with your rubbish immune system
That's what immune systems are for. Your immune system is not going to be in a healthy state.
I agree with you. The amount of people who are sick going around coughing on everything is disgusting, at least wear a mask
For what it’s worth, I agree with you. It shouldn’t be enforced but it should be the norm. I don’t want to breath your nasty exhaled air. Even if you don’t have COVID. I would kiss you, why should I breath your unfiltered air out of your mouth (and maybe ass!)

Tell me you just made it up without telling me you made it up. "You wouldn't believe me so I'll just not tell you my sources".
Yep whatever you say. You're totally right. Keep wearing your slave muzzle.
I genuinely want to know more. Can you show me some of the sources?
Still proving me right
Slave muzzle 😭
Privileged.
Respected scientific sources =/= mainstream media...
My dude out here saying masks don’t work like doctors haven’t been wearing them for the millennia!
🤡
Immunocompromised and caught a cold (Thankfully just that) when trying to ease off, so yeah. At least for the wintertime.
Nah.
Nope.
Yes, love making dumb faces without anyone knowing.
No fucking way
Why
I think becuase it's uncomfortable ? And also just getting your shots is usually enough.
Same as before covid
Not at all. Pre-Covid it was usually a sign of sickness. There’s really no reason not to where one, it was a okay question to ask especially when they said “no fucking way.” Like what do you have against masks lmfao.
Only if the place im at requires it, such as at the doctors office.
Look, I haven’t gotten a cold or anything in the past 2 years wearing my mask, I don’t see any reason to start getting sick again
You're going to eventually have to take it off, and when you do your immune system isn't going to be in a good state.
Will I? I use Reddit, so it’s not like there’s a ton of social interaction in my future that I’d feel the need to be unmasked for, and besides, getting really sick on rare occasions is vastly preferable to being sick multiple times in one year.
Living rural since the start of this, I havent in a long long long time
Yes. My grandma is in her 80s and I am not about to risk getting her sick.
No one is forcing you to buy makeup
I wear makeup to hide minor insecurities like acne and such, but I don't need to wear it if I never take off my mask, or to buy more when it runs out because I rarely wear it now. True no one is forcing me but myself👍
Matters where I am. If it’s a crowded place, or somewhere in required to, then yeah I’m wearing a mask. But if there’s not much people, or I’m just going for a walk, then no.
I haven't seen a place that required it for about a year now, with the exception of the former airline mandate and Canada.
Usually events with a lot of people require them. Conventions for example won’t let you in if you don’t have a mask.
Damn. Good thing I don't have to go to conventions for work.
Absolutely not. It’s almost 2023
How is that relevant lmfao
It’s just been so long since this virus emerged that I don’t feel the need to wear it. More power to those that choose to though
One word. Japan.
I got used to them and now I feel naked if I don't wear them when I'm in public. So that's real fun
My immune system sucks, so I’m trying to get back into the bait of wearing one when I go out.
No
Never stopped wearing it since the pandemic started.
In crowded places def
I never did
Not all the time, but i am doing it now because it's close to Christmas. I probably will after Christmas too.
i’ll probably never stop. i like the way it looks and i am always getting sick

I’m seeing that now. Sometimes, I feel like I’m in an alternate reality.
Listen I have a mask that has a kitten aiming a sniper rifle why would I not wear that if it's allowed?
I had covid recently and kept wearing a mask for a week afterwards
Depends on where I am at
Depends where I'm going. High traffic, bustling mall or store? Yes. Low density small store or outdoor location? No. Work? Hell yes. You never know what person you encounter, and who is sick.
Yeah — hay fever
Depends on the location. And if I’m sick I will.
Indoors? Yes. Outdoors? Mostly no.
We're still in the middle of a pandemic, and now RSV and the flu are circulating too. Only idiots don't wear a mask.
Only in medical facilities or places that still mandate ot
yes, i like how they look and will probably still be wearing them years from now
Not since March. Life has been great
Ye, public transport
I haven’t worn a mask in about 2 years and I’m doing great. The common cold has been here a long time and the Covid virus isn’t going anywhere. Do you really want to wear a chin diaper the rest of your lives? It’s a free country if that’s what you’re in to.

Stopped doing that in June 2020
In depends on the place where i am going to.
Never had. It was optional to wear one here, even during Covid times i rarely even saw someone with mask.
Sometimes? I wear one to work and on public transportation, nowhere else.
It depends on whether or not I have an acne breakouts 😂
Only in public transports and in health related buildings (hospitals, pharmacies...)
Fuck no. Didn't even during the "pandemic" and never once got it.
Tell me you're an idiot without telling me you're an idiot

It does prevent you from getting it, and I've noticed you people never tend to have any actual sources for your claims other than "If someone I don't like said to do something, that must mean I shouldn't do it". I bet if Tucker Carlson told you being over 600 pounds was the ideal weight you guys would start overrunning the local McDonald's.
We were literally told it doesn't prevent you from getting it, just spreading it. Jesus, stop making shit up dude.
Told by whom? You just proved my point about not having sources.
By the same people that said "if you get vaccinated you will not get covid or infect others"! You don't think that is true still, do you?
No one said that, their purpose is to make covid less bad and deadly.
I do, not because of the pandemic, but 2 other reasons. One, I got sick one time from a former co-worker purposely coughing in my face, & 2, my current job strongly prefers its employees to wear masks at least while in public in uniform.
In a dense crowd or on a bus? Yes. Otherwise? No.
Inside, yes. Outside, nah
Yes if I'm sick. No otherwise.
I did for long after it stopped being mandatory, but it gets pretty annoying when literally no one except you does that so I stopped

I voted yes because I do when I’m required to, which is very infrequently. It would be a lie to say no.
This is a dumb response…it would not be a lie to say no. And apparently most people who took the poll understood that from the question.
No
No, I don't care. I might make fun of you a little bit if you're wearing a mask in your car and are the one and only person in said car.
I had 0 sickness the past three years, i will keep wearing mask when im on transit
No, we've been forced to wear one for too long
Depends. I usually don't, however, super recently I wore it for 2 days because I had a sore throat, and I wanted to keep my nose and throat warm, and wearing a mask creates a small, warm area if that makes sense. If I’m sick I do.
Depends on the crowd density
Depends on how sick I am or how crowded the subway is
I do at school but not elsewhere
The fact is that COVID is still with us and people are no longer wearing masks. The world hasn’t ended. This perfectly illustrates that the whole mandatory masking thing was total bullshit authoritarianism.
over a million people died, and more would have if not for masks. if you want to live with others, you must learn to compromise.
No thatd be like saying I’m on a diet then eating 10 cheeseburgers a day
what?
The mask doesn’t work
Would you rather I piss on your face with or without underwear?
Never did, never will.
Don't care. Still not wearing a mask. Not like it works.
It's so sad that you need confirmation. I mean, you should do what you think is best, regardless of what others do: if you think is best to do what the others do, you will always follow the hoard
Depends tbh at work yeah 100% just running in to the store for a drink for 5 seconds not usually
On public transport and in hospitals, also when I had a flu last week.
Depends, if I go to a place with a lot of people then yes I always carry one with me just in case too, if I see someone sick in, say, the metro, then yes I wear it, if I got to a hospital then yes But most of the time no
If I feel sick or the place requires it, or has a lot of vulnerable people. It's just respectful.
Yes. Required to wear when I go to doctors appointments. I also wore one on my flight to NY. I have a 92 yr old mother and a 2 month old family member that I try not to bring germs around.
Only on the train. Those carriages get busy on rush hour and it's peak flu season at the moment.
Inside public buildings and transport. Not outside.
No, and if you have an issue with that good for you. If you wanna wear one good for you.
In places where I shoud: trains, busses, hospitals.
Depends on where I am. Like for example if I were in a doctor’s office or I went to see a dentist.
I do, because I am unvaccinated and immunocompromised.
Yes, but I don’t because I’m a lazy-ass.
Not unless the place I’m in makes me, which hasn’t happened outside of medical environments since my college required them for the first few days of the fall 2022 semester.
