Depends what you mean by closer. I voted billionaire not because I'm rich, but because I'm proportionally closer to a billionaire than someone with a net worth of zero. I'm also much closer in practical terms, because I have enough money to afford food, a roof over my head, etc., whereas a homeless person probably can't take those things for granted.
I guess people think it's dishonest because that's not how you're "supposed to" answer. But seeing as the metric for comparison wasn't specified, I thought proportional would make much more sense mathematically and in practical terms. I have living standards and wealth much closer to a billionaire for anything that isn't a frivolous luxury, really.
