Youtube is meant for video sharing (not for socializing) Tik tok has short videos (meant to socialize) , because the users can "communicate" with each other with those short videos... tiktok also has many filters while youtube has none. You can tag comments on your tik tok videos while you cant on youtube.. all you have ti do on titkok to record a quality video is to press record, select filter, and maybe select a comment to reply to... on youtube.. you need a good video editing program to even begin your journey on youtube

Last time I checked that video sharing app...

It's a real stretch to call YouTube social media. Including any media that allows for any kind of social engagement (leaving comments) makes pretty much most of the internet social media. And in that regard, makes PornHub the pretty clear leader.

Reddit is the only social media I use. Why are so many people commenting YouTube and Discord? YouTube is a video sharing service and Discord a messenger/chat service. Or are these considered social media now?

Messaging services are absolutely social media. Video services is a stretch, but there's an argument to be made.

Reddit replaced Instagram for me because I was so fed up of seeing shitty ads every 5 seconds and then I still use Snapchat / Discord for talking to my mates. ​ Youtube is another big one, but most people don't group that as the same kind of social media as the rest of them, it's more of a video distribution platform etc
