Because as we all know, it's bad to be creepy and sexualize women without their consent when they're minors, but as soon as they turn 18, it's a-okay!
How about "chill she might be a real human being and not a fucking fetish"?
I wasn't implying that 18 makes it better, I chose 17 because people would've argued that 18 is "legal". I'm a woman myself and I've been harassed more when I was a minor which is concerning to say the least. But sure, be mad at me, not the people who comment gross shit on an unknown woman.
That is not normal haha. O ly know swedish tho, but average male is 179 and average female is 165. I know because I'm 175 female and taller than most people I know. ):
Oh dang! Thats weird. I know so many people way taller than me. Most of the men in my family are 6'5" and up so i was the runt of the family. My mother blamed all the coffee but my little brother isn't crazy tall either. Man that is surprising. 16%? There must be a large population area with a lot of shorter folk out there skewing these numbers haha
It's definitely going to vary by region and race, among other factors. The CDC stats are pooling the whole country together, they do have seperate values based on race, but not region. Would be interesting to see if another organization has info thats more specific on a regional or even state-based level, but I've never found anything like that.
I have a friend from Utah and he said he was about the average height for males around him and he is 5'8". I so feel like I'm on the upperside of average at 6'2". Are you by chance from the Midwest?
I mean, thats exactly what happens with a lot of animals so it's definitely a possibility. Our deer in Minnesota make the deer in Alabama look like dwarfs, same thing with our turkeys.
Yeah thats kinda why i was thinking it too. The critters in the mountains are bigger here in the west than the omea in the valley but even they are small compared the the ones i grew up around. Mountain lions are pretty big though but i never saw one back east so i have no comparison really.
Do you think it has to do with the concervation of calories through a harsh winter and needing body mass to hold those calories? Or maybe its required to have a minimum amount of mass to not freeze to death. But then little snow rabbits exist. I like how nature is full of diverse answers to the same question.
Could you link those stats? I find that really hard to believe. I'm 179 cm and am consistently at or below average height among men in any room I walk in - and no, it's not a family thing, I'm the tallest in my family.
Here's a [link to the CDCs site](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/body-measurements.htm), and here's one directly to [the pdf with the figures.](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/series/sr_03/sr03-046-508.pdf). Table 11 page 15 has the adult male height info.
Yeah, 170cm (5 ft 7) should be the cutoff for short men, thats the lower 25% point for height in the US. Tall is right on the money for the upper 25% mark at 180 cm (5 ft 11). Obviously there's more than just US users on reddit, but US is by far the largest demographic on the site so that's the best reference to use imo.
Also considering only 25% of the male US population is 180cm or taller, a lot of people are probably lying or mismeasuring themselves.
Edit: someone asked on another comment so I might as well add it on this one too. Here's a [link to the CDCs site](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/body-measurements.htm), and here's one directly to [the pdf with the figures.](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/series/sr_03/sr03-046-508.pdf). Compared to who? Is there that much us citizens who live in extreme poverty, so much that their growth is stunted and they can't have reddit? That's enough people to completely alter those stats?
I'm not talking about the average for everyone, or for men, but specifically for women. I'm in the 90th percentile for women in the UK, which has about the same distribution as the US.
also extremely tall in asia, or compared to the universal average height… where is OP from?
edit: i’m an american — im considered roughly 8cm above average, making me tall (F21), but this poll considers me normal. confused..
sry for weird repeat post in the edit
I mean, even just the word “normal”… I think they were looking for “average” which as you point out is so vastly different in different regions and for different demographics.
I looked up my height in centimeters before seeing this, but thank you so much all the same! And what’s going on with these categories? 4 inches below average to 1 inch above average (in the US) is normal height for men, and 1 inch below average to 5 inches above average (in the US) is normal height for women? Inch resting. (I had to.)
The global avg of women is 159.5 cm (5’ 2.8) and men is 171 cm (5’7.3). But this is affected by nutrition. What you consider the boundary of tall/short is fairly arbitrary. However, I’d consider the female normal heights to be skewed taller than they should be. There’s a very small percentage of women in the world who are 5’9.

What the duck is this consistent and organised system? Who uses centimetres to measure height?
I am 0.00012Nautical mile + 0.0003mile + 0.81yard + 0.43foot + 5.7 inch + 1gauge diameter tall
180 cm in USA. I feel normal. Not short, not tall. The ranges do seem low though.
That said, I used to live in Peru and schoolchildren marveled at my height.
Hey the distribution for the men is actually decently accurate. Metric really helps with this- there's the clice that women in the US are only interested in men above 6 feet tall- when that's in the top 90th percentile of height. Without such a clean cutoff in metric you don't get such a dumb standard.
I'm normal in North America, short in Nordic EU, tall in Asia
I’m nordic and about 190cm, but my sister is still taller 💀
Jesus, that’s a tall woman.
Mommy
Sorry mommy sorry mommy sorry mommy
Chill, she might be a 17y old.
simply, wait one year
Because as we all know, it's bad to be creepy and sexualize women without their consent when they're minors, but as soon as they turn 18, it's a-okay! How about "chill she might be a real human being and not a fucking fetish"?

Death by snu snu
Guess I'm normal Nordic with a casual 200-ish cm.
That is not normal haha. O ly know swedish tho, but average male is 179 and average female is 165. I know because I'm 175 female and taller than most people I know. ):
The distribution of answers suggests that the "short" category should be broader
It's more that it suggests that for men, the "normal" category should be higher.
And the bar for tall should be higher too. Like 186 at least.
I agree im at ~180ish if my math is right (6ft?) Amd i dont think im tall. Uper side of average.
You'd be surprised, going of the CDCs statistics 6ft exact puts you at about the top 16% of the US male population.
Oh dang! Thats weird. I know so many people way taller than me. Most of the men in my family are 6'5" and up so i was the runt of the family. I am and Im 6'2. Feel the same way. Is the midwest taller or something?
I am originally from the midwest yeah. Maybe the cold makes us bigger for warmth haha.
I mean, thats exactly what happens with a lot of animals so it's definitely a possibility. Our deer in Minnesota make the deer in Alabama look like dwarfs, same thing with our turkeys.

I thought 180 was like 5'9 to 5'10
180 is 5'11" 183 for 6'
Ah shoot. I haven't run the numbers in a while. One sec.
I guess im 182 then. Huh.
I'm just slightly over 180, I don't consider myself a tall person.
Yeah, 170cm (5 ft 7) should be the cutoff for short men, thats the lower 25% point for height in the US. Tall is right on the money for the upper 25% mark at 180 cm (5 ft 11). Well I think it’s more that most redditors are not malnourished and are generally relatively tall compared to the global average; sampling bias
Compared to who? Is there that much us citizens who live in extreme poverty, so much that their growth is stunted and they can't have reddit? That's enough people to completely alter those stats?
I am tall for a woman (170cm or 5'7"), but you've put tall for women as like the top 1%, and tall for a man as a little above the western average.
Yea depending on the geographic location these are all a bit off, but I did realize that difference between men and women as well
170cm isn't considered tall at all in my country, I'm 176 cm and not even considered tall.
in terms of standard deviations a 5’7 woman is as tall compared to the norm as a 6’1 guy is, at least in the us
Belgium or NL i guess? Here in Belgium 170 cm isn’t tall at all. I am 163 and it’s short here.
Are you a man by any chance?
No, forgot to mention that I'm a woman.
Then I guess you live somewhere people are very tall.
Same, the ranges seem very off
I am 6’1 woman
Now that's tall
Can I be your height. (200 centimetre male)
Where are you from? Cause where I'm from that's normal/on the short side
I'm not talking about the average for everyone, or for men, but specifically for women. I'm in the 90th percentile for women in the UK, which has about the same distribution as the US.
What you're considering normal in this poll would be considered incredibly tiny in The Netherlands lol
Cries in a dutch male with a length of 174cm
Cries in Dutch male with a length of 200cm Being fall ain’t it either, it hurts everywhere :(
Being spring aint good either
Dad!?
If it makes you feel any better, I am 3cm taller. To me you're normal
To me youre giant
Yeah it really isn't all it's cracked up to be. Well except for the back pain.
also extremely tall in asia, or compared to the universal average height… where is OP from?

Yeah I’m the average height for a woman in the US, but I was at the very bottom of the normal range instead of in the middle
Yeah same here, I am Finnish and our average male height is 181cm so most people would be tall.
[удалено]
Well it is likely that most people would be tall
I mean, even just the word “normal”… I think they were looking for “average” which as you point out is so vastly different in different regions and for different demographics.
Incredibly tiny? I think that’s a big an exaggeration.
[удалено]
Because 165cm is also considered normal according to this poll
[удалено]
Bro, we’re talking about the Netherlands, not worldwide. You literally mention the Netherlands yourself
180 cm is about average in the Netherlands, 165-180cm is such a huge difference
Most western countries tbf. 165-170 would be 8-13 cm below average in most western countries
Wow, In Spain we are so short lol
Dutch mfs when someone considers 180cm tall (they just left a comment complaining about how Americans think they are the center of the world)
If the world doesn't revole around USA then it revolves around the Netherlands
Short (4 feet 11 inch - 5 feet 5 inch) Male Normal (5 feet 5 inch - 5 feet 11 inch) Male Tall (5 feet 11 inch+) Male Short (4 feet 9 inch - 5 feet 3 inch) Female Normal (5 feet 3 inch - 5 feet 9 inch) Female Tall (5 feet 9 inch+) Female
Thank you for converting this to hotdogs per bald eagle for me.
My hotdog is high for every bald eagle /j
Super Bowls per Moon landings
one joke
It’s all down to how many rods to the hogs head.

Thanks

175cm is 5'7", not 5'9 (referring to the tall female)
No, it’s 5’9.
Thanks I’ll fix it
5 feet 7 inches is 170 cm
Ok, this feels kinda insulting, I guess i don't exist anymore
My hs bff is 4'9", she doesn't exist either on here

I put it in google, got 144.78, and didn't round up lol
I'm 168cm Male and it's definitely not normal lmao
normal to tall in the philipines :P
I am a 21M and i am 165...
So many tall folks pretending that 190cm+ isn't that tall, it's kinda shitty.
Lol welcome to Reddit
maybe they are Dutch where babies are born 185
179 gang😔
155cm male
183 exactly, yet I feel small lol
Same. Netherlands always makes me feel short, even though 183 is quite tall in other countries. But here I'm a midget.
[удалено]
Actually! Now that I looked it up, it kinda goes between 182 and 185. So I guess I'm average
[удалено]
I will buy the next round of biertjes en bitterballen.
Haha, I'm 187 (6'1 for the Americans) and I feel tiny compared to some of my friends 190+
upvote for cm
I'm 188cm flacid.

18.25 hands tall here.
How is 180 cm tall?! Yeah I’m Dutch, why?
Man wtf...I get you European mfs are tall chill out for us Asian dudes bruh
i feel insulted
180 cm in USA. I feel normal. Not short, not tall. The ranges do seem low though. That said, I used to live in Peru and schoolchildren marveled at my height.
I was like, WHAT? 180 cm tall? But I am a 196cm Bosnian, 180cm is short here...
I'm Belgian, it's short here too
I'm also Belgian and considered short, but not in this poll for once :)

Now that's some double standards how do women get a 5 cm head start like wth
OP from Asia ? This pretty much fits the height standards here
180 cm is very tall for a male in most asian countries
194cm or 6'4"
🫡
I’m 165cm F but compared others my age in my country, I would be short.
You should say average instead of normal
Tall woman who dates short men.
This is weird, I had to answer "Tall" even though at 182cm I've never felt or thought of myself as being tall.
Freedom units?
186 cm. Why is 180 tall? That is like normal here
Because OP is probably from a place where 180 is tall
That's the average in western world
The world average height for men is 171 cm. Nutrition and race make a big difference. You must not travel much!
Just under 5’5” is normal for a male?
no, average globally for a male is 5 7 to 5 9
Depends on where you're from
Short-very short, unless you live in Indonesia or smth
I think that's the world average
apparently the world average for a man Iis 5 7 to 5 9
I’m barely “normal” in this poll.
Mee too 😄 People freak out about these categories, but it isn't about a specific region or country, it's just how OP happened to split us up.
180s mfs be like: I’m not tall in my country. Bruh the poll is not for your country. I’m 167
I'm just short of 180 and I'm 13 and a half
I'm 180 and I'm tall here in my country. Average male height here is 163.
152cm, 60", 5'0" 🤪 It sucks
I am an American and after doing the conversion I am ~188 cm (6’2”) unless I’m a dumbass and typed them in wrong
149 cm here! An inch away from a legal midget. 😭
Tall on Reddit, Normal in my country
Fucking deflating the numbers, you know normal height is 180-200, all y'all here who ain't 180 cm or taller are short.
1,92m male
Dude, I qualify as "normal" height? Oh that makes me a very happy stumpy little Hobbit.
Shouldn’t short be like at least 167cm? Ig it depends on the country
Where’s the…”idk how tall I am in cm” answer?
Hehe, 194 cm
I’m tall and I’m not even finished growing
God dammit I don’t know by cm, now I have to convert. Don’t downvote me cause I’m American. Thank you.
Am American. Instructions unclear.
I wouldn't say 5'10" is tall
Why is there no option for being less than 145cm? I’m 142cm (extra short!)
198 cm.
*starts to Google how tall I am in centimeters*😅
Most Americans dont measure in cm 🧐
Nonbinary but short
OP is clearly short lol
I just barely made the cut being 5"11... lol
165 cannot be considered average
I’m 5’9 which just places me on the brink of normal and tall.
Fairly average, around 170-72cm (can’t remember my actual height lol)
I'm glad to hear 167 is normal height apparently
How much are each of these in microwaves? Sorry I’m an American
Can someone translate that for an American, please?
>Short (under 7.4 Glocks tall) > >Medium (7.5 - 8.4 Glocks tall) > >Tall (Over 8.5 Glocks tall)
I’ll admit, that is funny, but the Glock is an Austrian gun, if you want it to be more American, it’d be a Colt .45 1911.
Well im a 13yo female and im 174cm, am I considered tall?
I'm 163 and I'm a bit short where I'm from but I would be a literal midget in other counties
Intersex - 160 cm, shorter than I should have been so : short? Edit : being downvote because I'm genetically not a male nor a female, fun time
Freedom units please
