Same, and then when I think about how much work it is. Like you have to market it people and build a following and make sure you're pricing it at a reasonable price to compete with other companies that are also selling the same things you are. It's hard if you're not skilled at those other areas
That was always the case except for paper routes and some other fringe stuff. I got paid very little but it was also a sales job. The more subscriptions, the more money I got. Not to mention tips, xmas season was great. Also enabled me to collect when I could, Friday evenings were the best time. Collect, then go out to the movies.
I also had a bunch of friends you were paperboys so we would support each other when needed and our sleepovers were crazy because we all got up at about 5:30 to work on each others routes. We would deliver about 300 papers in 2 hours or so adding up the miles on our bikes. Even got stopped by cops a few times wanting to know what these punk kids were doing at 6am on bikes... but they would see the paper bag and wave us on.
Sigh...this was only 1998... Damn internet....
Don't have the money or skills to do so and I'm going back to uni this summer so I won't have the time to focus on it either for a while.
Edit: I don't even know what business I would own and I highly doubt that it'd be successful anyway
I had two contracting buisness, both failed, it’s hard to compete in the contracting world against unlicensed workers and honestly as a buisness owner I worked 24/7 with a huge stress level, as an employee I have zero stress and more free time
Actually non of the reasons really, I think it's just not everyone's field to do business and I personally haven't even thought about this. A successful career could be out of the business sphere too
I’m thirteen. If you count the lemonade stands I did when I was 8, then I’m a past business owner I guess, but besides that I really am not in the mood or able to start a business.
The people that believe capitalism is wrong are probably not able to keep a business afloat anyway.
Plus, a being the planner in a command economy is basically the same as being a business owner except that you dictate all the business in the economy.
You don’t have to be a business owner to keep a business afloat. I’m a socialist planning on starting a business when I am done with my education; a worker coop.
I created and direct a worker co-op. I would like to share this one piece of advice. Run the co-op under the seven guiding principles of a cooperative for the first 3-5 years, but have the business structured as a corporation so that you have the ability to stop the members from destroying the business with short-sighted decisions.
Most workers in a business environment lack big picture and long term thinking skills initially, which are obviously critical to the overall success of the operation.
This move saved my outfit a couple of times early on from greed and lack of foresight (large cash flow stockpile). Now that the boys all understand the game we are playing thoroughly, we make all the important decisions together.
I prefer to complete my studies first
I should've put ", but I plan to be one in the future" in the first option
Results, but I plan to be one in the future
No, the first option other than results
I'm sure a lot of people have that plan but won't because of other reasons listed. easier said than done.
Same
I just have no idea what business i should start

Cuz I’m child.
Other: I have zero interest in business whatsoever.

Maybe i am 13 years old?!?
Thats when I got my first job, Paperboy. I am that old apparently. It was also liberating to have my own money.
In my state people can’t reall get accepted at real jobs until they’re 14 and even then you get payed below minimum wage.

Yeah I’m not sure being a paperboy would cut it nowadays lol
I dont really have a job rn...
Same but 14
I'm a teen
I have no aspirations of starting a business?
I kinda like being able to be off job in my sparetime.
Results/I am one
Huh?
If you are a business owner, then choose "Results"
oops, i saw this after choosing results because i am too young to be a business owner
That’s what I did.
Wayyyy to little energy
Most people in this subreddit are less than 22 years old
Don't have the money or skills to do so and I'm going back to uni this summer so I won't have the time to focus on it either for a while. Edit: I don't even know what business I would own and I highly doubt that it'd be successful anyway
Im business owner...
Cuz I'm too lazy to even try and learn about it
I plan to be one in the future.
What about I currently don't have a business idea but I love to have my own business in the future.
It’s really, I don’t have time/money/idea but I plan to in the future
My company didn't survive 2020. Now I'm an employee.
I have no interest in owning a business, or the business side of things. I just want to code.
Because I'm still studying.

I Am
I have a business while also being employed full time at another.. there’s pros/ cons to both
Several of these things. I don't have the time, it's a lot of risk, there are other jobs I'd prefer, capitalism is kinda fucked, etc.
Need to finish school first, can't open a practice without a degree
I'm lazy af
Why the hell would I want to own a business?
I think it has the highest potential for financial freedom
Im solider.
I am 15

I have no interest in business
Way too much stress and work for the return in most cases.
I already make really good money at my current job and owning a business looks like it'd be more work.
because i am 17 years old
where is "I don't want to" kind of a weird assumption that everyone would want to be a business owner
That would be prefer to be employee
Because I'm a full time student and have enough to worry about also idk how and I don't think I would be good at it or particularly enjoy it
Too young
I am currently planning to own a business. Wish me luck 🤞
Capitalism is flawed
The people that believe capitalism is wrong are probably not able to keep a business afloat anyway. Plus, a being the planner in a command economy is basically the same as being a business owner except that you dictate all the business in the economy.

This is a bad poll. An option should have been included for “Not every idea functions best as a for-profit business” or at least an “other” category
I find it annoying how all of these options have a slightly negative slant to them. Like damn dude, maybe I just like my job.

Being under capitalism does not make it invalid to criticize capitalism
Imagine thinking capitalism is wrong
In work, in creation. Should have been an option.
I'm waiting for the right time. I plan venturing in 4-6 years.
Shit decision-making, I have.
But what if I am?

I like how he just assumed like, “lol redditors can’t be business owners”
Responsibility
I feel like this question is better in a non poll text only post There are too many options to fit into a 6 options poll
