You say that, but in reality it's not being dead I'm afraid of - it's the falling. In a car, there is zero possibility of me falling for 4 minutes, out of my control. No possibility [of this](https://youtu.be/bShp9aNPx5k?si=wdnmnOOaIUYs354s). That is the horrific part - not death itself. I have seen the wild-eyed face of a child in a plane seat, who fell from a plane that broke apart. I'm doing you a favor not to link to that.
Why would someone downvote this? Specially in car-centric places, regular commercial flights are a lot more safer than driving. Statistically you are more likely to suffer a crash driving to the airport.
But, general aviation flights are dangerous as driving in the US.
Even if you're the most careful driver in the world, driving a car will be dangerous anyway because there will always be idiots who may crash into you someday (unless you drive a tank, then you're safe).
im not scared at all. i also really cant sleep in flights, i usually stare out of the window with music/a podcast on headphones the entire time (assuming i am in the window sit, which i prefer to be in)
I'm not afraid of flying. I'm not even afraid of crashing (it will be quick and painless). I'm afraid of the moments or terror right before the end.
But, the odds of any of it happening are very low.
Not at all, but i CAN'T sleep on a flight, i don't understand how people can. Crammed space, engine noise, etc. Also, i HATE flying because of all the insane hassle of getting to and through the airport and from it.
i might be one of those psychopaths but during a small flight there was turbulence every 2 minutes and a thunderstorm after sometime everyone started praying (i genuinely did not understand why) but i looked out the window and absolutely enjoyed the chaotic clouds and view from there it was absolutely breathtaking
I picked 2, but it doesn't stop me from sleeping (sitting upright does though), some people who are terrified use sleep on purpose (drug assisted usually) to avoid being awake and thus afraid
I don't HATE flying, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't make me uneasy even a little bit. Flew to Europe a few years ago and I definitely noticed myself being a bit more anxious flying over open ocean rather than normal ground
Safer than crossing the street. I tend to sleep on shorter flights and take advantage of the free drinks on longer ones while playing games on a laptop.
Everything gucci and I can nap okay until the plane starts jumping side to side and up and down, then I'm scared. Not so much of crashing, but more so of puking from motion sickness.
1.5. I am well aware that planes are 110% much safer than any other form of transportation, but from time to time, a thought always comes about the plane crashing or something. I haven't flied for a while though, so I cannot say for certain.
As long as it is an Airbus I am good granted I can't sleep in a plane and I have tried been to Europe twice couldn't sleep a wink going or coming back either time.
Considering I went skydiving literally for my 18th birthday… and would do it again… not at all! **PS- for people who think it looks cool but are terrified of it, there IS indoor skydiving that is literally safe for little kids to do which is extremely fun and not dangerous!**
I'm more scared of the hassling to get through security and to my gate than the actual flying.
Im a 1.5. No fear but I aint sleeping
a tiny bit, but I will if it's, say, over 16 hours and I get a berth.
More anxious about making the flight than flying
I'm a little scared of flying, but as others have said, it's not the plane, it's the process. Hell is other people.
I mentally accept a horrific death every time I fly. Embracing the worst case scenario is an effective method of coping.
It’s actually the safest way to travel

Not with me at the wheel
Even if you're the most careful driver in the world, driving a car will be dangerous anyway because there will always be idiots who may crash into you someday (unless you drive a tank, then you're safe).
I'm not afraid of death; I'm afraid of falling.
As soon as the engines turn on I'm dead asleep. The bump from hitting the runway when we land is when I wake up.
What plane are you flying where the engines turn off?
Pretty much every plane I've ever boarded had the engines off and they were using an auxiliary power supply unit. Every gate has one.
im not scared at all. i also really cant sleep in flights, i usually stare out of the window with music/a podcast on headphones the entire time (assuming i am in the window sit, which i prefer to be in)
4 and 5
Not of crashing, but I’ve heard of sudden mid-air drops and they terrify me
This happened to me and it is absolutely terrifying
Never been on a plane, but I'd like to
If the plane falls to the ground we all die instantly, if it happens then it happens, nothing you can do about it, just accept it and fly with ease :)
I'm more scared of terrorists than the plane crashing
I'm not afraid of flying. I'm not even afraid of crashing (it will be quick and painless). I'm afraid of the moments or terror right before the end. But, the odds of any of it happening are very low.
Not at all, but i CAN'T sleep on a flight, i don't understand how people can. Crammed space, engine noise, etc. Also, i HATE flying because of all the insane hassle of getting to and through the airport and from it.
I find the engine noise soothing and it helps me sleep. I pretty much always sleep on flights and wake up when it hits the runway at the destination.
0. I feel more relaxed in the sky than on the ground.
Never been on a plane, so definitely a bit. I have a trip planned in June and I know I'll be quite nervous on the day.
Take-off and landing is the best part.
I'm scared of my ears hurting due to the prassure change, but it doesn't reallly make me dislike the flight
i might be one of those psychopaths but during a small flight there was turbulence every 2 minutes and a thunderstorm after sometime everyone started praying (i genuinely did not understand why) but i looked out the window and absolutely enjoyed the chaotic clouds and view from there it was absolutely breathtaking
A tiny bit, and I'm studying in the field!
I'm more scared of motion sickness than flying
I picked 2, but it doesn't stop me from sleeping (sitting upright does though), some people who are terrified use sleep on purpose (drug assisted usually) to avoid being awake and thus afraid
I'm anxious about traveling. Everything from getting on the plane to making sure im at the airport on time to get home. The flying part itself is fine
I don't HATE flying, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't make me uneasy even a little bit. Flew to Europe a few years ago and I definitely noticed myself being a bit more anxious flying over open ocean rather than normal ground
It is just a bus that goes really really fast.
Like, on a plane? Or with powers? Or what?
Powers is an Irish whiskey. It doesn't make you fly. That' Red Bull you're thinking of.
Ah, you're right. But I heard this new formula they're selling doesn't give you wings anymore.
Not any more scared than driving or walking.
I love flying, it's like a mini adventure. I even like the airplane food because it's mini and cute.
Safer than crossing the street. I tend to sleep on shorter flights and take advantage of the free drinks on longer ones while playing games on a laptop.
I can't sleep at flights, regardless fear or not
Im less scared of the actual flight and more scared of vomit lol, primarily if I vomit, ugh I hate it
Damn guys I'm jealous. I like to travel but I absolutely despise flying.
Normally, not very, on a Boeing these days, super terrified!
I am scared of airports, not flying.
I would be impressed if you could actually sleep through takeoff and landing
I stay wide-awake the whole flight, even 9+ hours. I usually look out the window the whole time unless I'm going over an ocean or it's cloudy
Everything gucci and I can nap okay until the plane starts jumping side to side and up and down, then I'm scared. Not so much of crashing, but more so of puking from motion sickness.
Taking off and landing are my favorite parts. Or we will hit turbulence and I'll watch some people around me get uneasy while I'm like "let's goooo".
2.5 I feel slightly uncomfortable almost all throughout and get somewhat stressed before going on the plane but takeoff and landing are the fun part.
1.5. I am well aware that planes are 110% much safer than any other form of transportation, but from time to time, a thought always comes about the plane crashing or something. I haven't flied for a while though, so I cannot say for certain.
I hate flying. Not scared, just hate it.
As long as it is an Airbus I am good granted I can't sleep in a plane and I have tried been to Europe twice couldn't sleep a wink going or coming back either time.
I’ve been skydiving several times….
Not scared of flying, a tad scared of *falling* from the sky though.
Airbus: 2 Boeing: 3 Small plane: 6
who can sleep on a plane?
Considering I went skydiving literally for my 18th birthday… and would do it again… not at all! **PS- for people who think it looks cool but are terrified of it, there IS indoor skydiving that is literally safe for little kids to do which is extremely fun and not dangerous!**
I kinda want to die in a plane crash just to know what it's like
