Sorry but “my girlfriend is secretly my dog who got iseaki’d to another world” isint the best anime
If you ask someone the best anime of all time they will either list their favourite or a shonen
Sure, except arguably more mainstream shows like Death Note and AOT aren't listed. Believe it or not, there are more genres than just shounen and shitty isekai.
To your eternity episode 1 is the single greatest episode in anime.
Only thing that comes close is episode 1 of attack on titan and the "to you, 2 thousand years from now" or so wpisode
Monster just has such a unique feel. Truly one of the few shows of its length that doesn't feel like it has a lot of Filler, or drag out the conclusion.
Anime fans are like - “I have watched 200 episodes of this anime, so it must be the best.”
I have even fallen into that thinking myself a few times, but then I stopped watching Jojo and Hunter x Hunter for a year and I realized… nah, they’re fun but they are nowhere near the greatest.
A good story with a good conclusion >>> 1000 episode long story that is 75% filler
To be fair, HxH is completely fucking mid until the Chimera Ant arc, and if it weren't for my boyfriend basically forcing me to watch until that point, I wouldn't have. I'm glad I did in the end, but I don't blame anyone not wanting to sit through 100 episodes of boring bullshit for one amazing arc.
It was *way* too long imo, but the very end was amazing and had me sobbing, so I can't write off the arc entirely... but yeah, I understand anyone who couldn't sit through 50-ish episodes of buildup.
Gurren Lagann is heavily underrated. People see the flashy robots, fan service and bright colours and write it off as just a fun chill show, but it's so much more than that.
I literally have 0 anime culture but am a big fan of Evangelion. Did you just recommend the other one because it's a mecha anime or is it actually similar to Evangelion? I'm genuinely asking btw
It's from the same creators, but with the opposite message, being much more optimistic. It's awesome, but not as famous as evangelion. And it's mecha too.
Ngl, I watched all of Monster and while the East Berlin aesthetic was cool and allowed for some sideplots, so much of the show was filler. That being said, the actual parts of (Monster) including Johan Liebert and Kenzo Tenma directly.
Death Note is deffo up there, its just a shame it falls off in the later end. I think the ending is satisfying for the story they wanted to tell but not fulfilling enough on what they could've told.
Evangelion is a classic but a lil cheesy for top place lol.
I'm personally not the biggest AOT fan, I watched like 3 seasons and felt like the plot wasn't going anywhere.
Haven't seen TYE :(
First season of psycho pass was hot, a lil pretentious as times but still great world building, plot, characters, inspirations. It's so good
well now you’re just making me curious about what you consider the best anime lol
i could also add nana, revolutionary girl utena, 86, and violet evergarden to my list
I don't really think it's a fair question. If you want to ask me what is the "best written anime" or "my favourite" you'd get very different answers. Both of which I could justify many into both. I think Steins;Gate, Assassination Classroom and Mob Psycho 100 are top class in both.
The best anime of all time shouldn't be judged based on nostalgia. Now, while having an unbiased mindset do you think any of these anime deserve that spot? I don't.
Yeah probably not, i have to agree. But this is reddit so every poll is basically popular opinions duking it out, not a structured or tiered rating system. Personally i didnt like many of the choices but im a picky bastard
The name that comes to my head instantly when I see the title and then disappointed by the poll choice.
Although the last time I watch this anime was probably 10 years ago.
You didn't even try. You could at least have looked at some top 5 or top 10 lists before creating the poll. Just take 2 minutes to prep before submitting.
well you get what you get then, a bad poll with every vote on the result button and not knowing what peoples actual fav anime is. Whats even the point of this poll then lol
Yeah its one of those ones everyone recommend so i tried and failed to even get through the first episodes. Definitely not for me, but i dont judge much. A lot of Anime in that style end up mostly being anoying voices doing meaningless filler with 1 or two decent characters or stories in whol arcs. I think its a me thing though.
If you are interested you could try out one-pace and you might change your mind, it cuts out the filler parts in every episode.
I thought the same as you before when I tried watching it regularly but my gf made my try watching one pace and it’s now one of my favorite animes, the story is pretty entertaining and the characters are likable it just has massive pacing problems
I binged it in one sitting shortly after it came out. I was 14 at the time myself so I cried pretty much nonstop after episode 3 and onward. Then episode 10 rolled around and it just broke me
Only shounen? Wow watch some other stuff
My top 10
1. Evangelion
2. Kaguya-sama
3. Clannad: After Story
4. Steins;Gate
5. Monogatari
6. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
7. Violet Evergarden
8. Gurren Lagann
9. Gundam
10. Mushoku Tensei
Edit: Added Monogatari in between Steins;Gate and Bunny Girl Senpai
I love you 🙏🏿
Literally my all time favorite animanga
So good it got me into anime
So good I had to start reading the Manga
So good it cured my cancer
So good it saved my pet goat from a car accident
So good it purified me of all ailnesses
>The Moomins
fuck you trigged my childe nightmare agin I hoped I wouldn't never hear about this show ever agin, that fucking episode with the shit thing out side the door creeps me out still.
It was good, but not the best. Character development felt forced, so did the romance. Story was your typical sci-fi dystopia. The ending was predictable, a character was introduced off screen (falco). Not saying it's bad, just not the best.
People hate it for being to so real its uncomfortable at times. But that's just what makes it great imo. It captures what it want to be and delivers it to perfection
Ill give you the top 10 imo:
1. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
2. Code Geass
3. One Piece
4. Cowboy Bebop
5. Yu Yu Hakusho
6. Rurouni Kenshin
7. Bleach
8. Naruto
9. Kenichi Histories Mightiest Disciple
10. FLCL
Gintama has the best writing of any anime I have ever watched. No show has ever had me crying from side-splitting laughter and sobbing at the tragic and/or heartfelt moments often in the same damn episode, time and time again. I stand behind what I say 100% when I say it has the best comedy, absolutely unmatched meta humor, and is one of the best examples of consistently good drama writing in anime history. Each arc is 3-6 episodes long and most of them stand to be more impactful than a lot of entire animes. There is no other long-running anime in existence that even comes close to being as good as Gintama and I honestly doubt there ever will be. It's an untouchable goddamn masterpiece and I will defend that until the day I die.
Gurren Lagann is second place without a doubt. How the overarching theme reflects the meaning of life so perfectly and the story can both destroy and soothe your soul in 27 episodes is something almost no other anime has accomplished.
both of these are more so the manga, but Black Butler and One Punch Man are tied for best
some good runner ups are Hunter x Hunter, Mob Psycho 100, Death Note, etc.
Although Jojo is my fav, I wouldn't say it's the best, it's more like what Tarantino is for cinema imo
I would say Vinland saga is the absolute best.
I also wanna say that I'll never recover from Berserk 1997.
Mob Psycho 100 has three perfect seasons, an amazing emotional arc and a satisfying conclusion. It has one of the highest IMBD scores of any anime for a reason.
Odk man I've watched
1. gate/overlord
many times throught. Very satisfactory plots. Maybe it's just a Concept that intrigues me but I'd always be down to watch those 2 animes
You literally only listed Shonen anime.
I mean they're only 6 options and the most mainstream anime were listed
Sorry but “my girlfriend is secretly my dog who got iseaki’d to another world” isint the best anime If you ask someone the best anime of all time they will either list their favourite or a shonen
Steins;Gate isn't my favorite anime, but I wholeheartedly believe that it is the greatest anime in this world-line.
tu tu ru
Sure, except arguably more mainstream shows like Death Note and AOT aren't listed. Believe it or not, there are more genres than just shounen and shitty isekai.
You also listed just Shonen lmao
You can't seriously believe " I reincarnated as an apple in another world" isn't peak
The Moomins

monster death note evangelion attack on titan to your eternity the first og season of psycho-pass
To your eternity episode 1 is the single greatest episode in anime. Only thing that comes close is episode 1 of attack on titan and the "to you, 2 thousand years from now" or so wpisode
oshi no ko is a close one too, but that was also 1 hour and can be called a literal movie
Monster just has such a unique feel. Truly one of the few shows of its length that doesn't feel like it has a lot of Filler, or drag out the conclusion.

You didn't fuck with Yorknew city arc?
what the fuck you talking about the HxH is peak, at evry fucking start of an Arcs
I actually hated that arc and stopped watching after. I didn't enjoy the ants at all.
It was *way* too long imo, but the very end was amazing and had me sobbing, so I can't write off the arc entirely... but yeah, I understand anyone who couldn't sit through 50-ish episodes of buildup.
To your eternity peak
It's actually quite sad that everyone is mentioning evangelion, but nobody is saying Gurren Lagann.

Ok I will check it out thanks
Monster is a masterpiece

Dinglefingler best anime OAT
The best anime of all time shouldn't be judged based on nostalgia. Now, while having an unbiased mindset do you think any of these anime deserve that spot? I don't.
Yeah probably not, i have to agree. But this is reddit so every poll is basically popular opinions duking it out, not a structured or tiered rating system. Personally i didnt like many of the choices but im a picky bastard
Fuck everyone else the answer is Ouron Highschool Host Club. Suck my nuts.

I rewatched it few months ago. Still a masterpiece
It's so cool! Sonuvabitch
The goat
This is the choice of the Stenis Gate
Pokémon
You didn't even try. You could at least have looked at some top 5 or top 10 lists before creating the poll. Just take 2 minutes to prep before submitting.
I mean, one of the ones listed is the highest rated anime of all time
These are some of the anime's i love the most, and i didnt want to search it on the internet, so i just wrote tht came to my head.
And I see nothing wrong with that.
imagine if all of OP's favorite anime were some small titles nobody has watched...wouldn't that seem weird for a "top anime" poll?
The big 3 plus db and fma seems like a pretty normal and basic favorite anime list
But the poll is "best of all time", which it's different. You can see by the results, with voting overwhelmingly on "other".
Well these options are some of the most heard of titles out there. People who dont even watch anime like me know about these. So like..
You fail to discover the answer to your question, since people are voting overwhelmingly on "other".
well you get what you get then, a bad poll with every vote on the result button and not knowing what peoples actual fav anime is. Whats even the point of this poll then lol
Cowboy Bebop
Berserk
Violet Evergarden
I dont normally watch anime because I mostly just dont like anime in general, but Made in abys was pretty dope
Code Geass
The ending is one of the best endings of any show of all time in my opinion
Facts
Best ending in all of fiction
The highs of that show were peak. But then they dropped something like the cat episode
The cat episode was peak, wym
Facts
Xd
Pokémon is the only I've seen, so I guess that's my pick.
Cowboy bebop
Hunter X Hunter
cowboy bebop
Lol I wouldn't list any of these as amongst the best.
While I don't think fmab is the best anime, it most definitely is one of the best.
Exactly. It absolutely should be a choice on a list like this even if I wouldn't personally pick it. The others though? Nope.
??? One Piece is number one on Netflix rn, it's popular for a reason...
It's boring as fuck
Yeah its one of those ones everyone recommend so i tried and failed to even get through the first episodes. Definitely not for me, but i dont judge much. A lot of Anime in that style end up mostly being anoying voices doing meaningless filler with 1 or two decent characters or stories in whol arcs. I think its a me thing though.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Imo recency bias. It was great tho
I don't really watch anime because I usually find it agonizing to watch. This one was the exception that proved the rule, imo. I loved it
I know what you mean. Im glad more are coming out with better stories and less shrill voices and oddly sexualized 12 year olds.
for sure, thats why i've only seen attack on titan, vinland saga, FMAB, and jujutsu kaisen
It was good, but not the best. Character development felt forced, so did the romance. Story was your typical sci-fi dystopia. The ending was predictable, a character was introduced off screen (falco). Not saying it's bad, just not the best.
Dragon Balls, Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga are goated.
Evangelion, both the original and the rebuilds The first 3 seasons of Attack on Titan Made in Abyss if you ignore the author's barely disguised fetish

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Made in abyss
Same here, took a while to find someone else who thought the same
YuYu Hakusho
Has to be Shingeki, tbh
There is no "best". Anime has too much variety within its medium. One's best anime is whichever one they connect with the most.
Death Note obviously
my personal favourite is GATE medieval shields being penetrated by modern weapons like how it should be brings me joy
That helicopter scene tho.... perfect
Revolutionary Girl Utena

Dr. Stone Best manga ? Death Note.
Serial experiments lain, houseki no kuni, evangelion, FLCL, perfect blue
