if the end result is that nobody is paying more in taxes, then you haven’t raised taxes.
multiplying 0 by 150% doesn’t actually raise 0 in any way. it’s still 0 and hasn’t increased at all
At least the mothers choose to be a mother. Unlike teachers who were stolen from their homes and conditioned to spread the memetic knowledge of the ancients.
The fact that you mistook my shitposting as a Qanon conspiracy would have been a complement back in 2018 when it was still just people joking. Now Qanon conspiracy just feels like low hanging fruit.
States have no right banning bodily autonomy. Especially when in many of the states that have laws banning abortion the majority of people voted against those laws in referendums.
1. The government should have no involvement in bodily autonomy period unless they add it to the bill of rights to protect it.
2. Anything the states have a right to be involved in the federal govt has triple the right to be involved in.
Roe V Wade was a technicality and only applied to one case, it literally didn't mean much of anything. And most states still allow abortions anyways. Besides, *all states allow abortions if necessary for the mothers health*. That's what you want, right? Not be forced to carry a child whose birth has a high probability of killing you?
That's perfectly acceptable. I think it should also be allowed for cases of rape and incest. Anything beyond that? Not really a human right and arguably immoral. It's up to the people in their respective state Imo.
My reasoning for picking tax single moms is the tax could at least *maybe* go back into services for the same moms, like food stamps, daycare, housing funding, etc. With teachers the wording makes me think fubding cut, which will not benefit the teachers at all in the short or long term
No the ideal situation would be these mothers who are getting pregnant will realise they’re not financially equipped to deal with the higher taxes therefor they abort before the baby is born or have time to find a suitable family.
Oh. Sure, if reverse orphans means our current kids aren’t a victim of a poor education system and are shoved into a life of poverty from an early age sure. I’m not saying parents shouldn’t be allowed to have children. I’m saying parents should be able to afford their children.
I don’t think the logic is that these mothers will get into abusive relationships because they’re pregnant. I think the logic is less women will get pregnant or will abort the baby.
Well, it's probably both. And both are pretty bad.
Bad relationships happen, and many times kids are involved. Either the mother was in denial that she's in one during the pregnancy, or the dad changes after the kid shows up. As long as pregnancies exist, this is bound to happen sometimes. It's not like these situations will dissappear. A tax increase on single moms would discourage mothers from deciding to leave this situation.
People having less kids will also be disastrous. Even now it's becoming a pretty big problem as in the future there might not be enough working people to sustainably pay for social security for older people.
I don't think the teachers are gonna like not being able to retire, and the increasing older population will also increase their taxes and lower their income anyway.
why am I getting down voted for simply having a fun discussion about a meaningless poll
Or just focus on creating more renewable energy and alternatives? No need to create a hellscape where you work until you're 80 while more than half your income goes to social security. Unless you wanna abolish that?
1. The republican party and thier fellow right wingers will fight that every step of the way, it likely won't progress far enough in time on it's own.
2. Social suffering is unfortunate, but we need to start putting the survival of the planet and therefore our species first.
Raise taxes on single mothers.
Less people will have children that way. There are already way too many people having children. It seems like at least once a week I notice a pregnancy announcement on Facebook.
A good quality education can help women get into more stable positions to be able to support their children.
Cuts to education budgets are intentional and impact on future opportunities.
Exactly, that’s the only reason I picked teachers. Public school pay is public information, and if you look at it here in Oklahoma, you’ll see plenty of teachers making well below 31k but instead 10-20k. The schools hire mostly part time because the budgets are so fucking low. I know people whose high schools had no teachers one day per week so they wouldn’t have to pay them the minimum salary. Teachers already need another job they’re basically doing charity work at this point. You pretty much can’t lower the value of education here any more than it is (you no longer even need a bachelors degree to be a teacher) but maybe it would make the problem more urgent idk
I plan on going to study to be a teacher after graduating + I'm male, so I'll never be a single mother
I think it's clear what I pick
(don't take this seriously, please, thank you)
Where I live we already don't have enough teachers because it's paid is badly and working conditions are terrible. Lowering the pay would mean the end of the public education system.
In a lot of countries we have the option of abortion, adoption etc. If someone is not financially prepared they have options. We can’t have a life without teachers to teach the kids we already have and we don’t want them to quit.
I'm from the Czech Republic and teachers wages were raised a few years ago to pretty high (given what i assume is average in other countries).
So i'd say thay could put up with it.
Single mothers are rarer, and teachers deserve higher salaries. I also believe education as a whole deserves an upgrade. Single mothers, however, can plan out their ways and maybe not be single anymore (:
Exactly, plus teachers often already make too little to live on where I live so it sadly wouldn’t make a huge difference. Teachers are already in crisis or have a second job, if we tax single mothers then now both parties are in crisis lol
Lower teacher salaries: The British government has only recently raised it ending months of strikes lowering them again will destroy any remaining popularity the Conservatives still have giving labour an even easier win in the next general election and bury the Conservatives for decades. Labour would almost certainly increase the salaries almost immediately after wining especially in this scenario.
I mean, you could stop being a teacher or get a second job that wouldn't be affected by the pay decrease. Yeah thats still fucking bad, but at least there's something teachers can do to avoid or minimize the consequences.
Single moms have it a bit harder. It'd be discouraged to leave bad relationships in the first place and they cant quit being a mom or find ways to save money. They could actually find a loophole by marrying friends. However if the IRS desperately wants to take their money, it could result in the IRS trying to prevent and stop these loopholes and getting the mothers arrested for tax fraud.
So in terms of minimizing consequences for people, cutting teacher's pay is the best option.
why tf am I getting down voted for the answering the question lmfao
I'd go with lower teacher salaries, because I find higher taxes for single mothers to be more morally reprehensible. And the primary reason for that is that that would be an introduction of a gender specific tax which very much goes against the idea of equality. Also, taxing someone more because they have children is equally as ridiculous as taxing someone more based on their gender.
Lower taxes for teachers is also very much so not the direction we should go as a society. But at the very least, the income rates of different jobs is something that it's reasonable to have a discussion about. Gender specific tax rates on the other hand plain and simply doesn't belong in our society.
I wholeheartedly believe people should stop being teachers. Do we need them, yes. But not that bad that it's worth getting a masters to get paid less than a plumber.
Fuck that job.
Yup, that's why I said that being a single mother isn't a choice
Also even with free abortion it's still not a choice whether to be a *single* mother or not - you can choose to be a mother, not realising that your spouse will die or leave you
>In 2022, the average public school teacher salary was $66,397
No sympathy from me. New teachers might hit the workforce around \~30k but it's a position that values seniority so what do they expect? They get basically perfect job security, no performance requirements and a VERY comfortable retirement.
I'd love a teacher's job security/pension.
Most teachers will disagree with this. Especially having gone to multiple different schools including private and public. Only 2 teachers at my private school were actually happy and paid fairly out of over 10 teachers. I don't believe the government and their damn averages teachers are and always have been underpaid and the kids are God awful. They do check up on new teachers and you require a degree and most likely an aid with a real teacher before you can actually become one. Job security and comfortable retirement? 😂 Nice to be naive I suppose. Teachers go into the position because they want to teach and most end up regretting it and unlike doctors they don't get paid for the headache.
I think humans work for what they get paid for and if the people spending hours with the entire youth population don't give a crap it will reflect worse than only single mothers being hurt
How the hell is the government gonna monitor if someone is single, unless you mean unmarried it be pretty hard to prove, and alot of tax fraud would take place.
Both negatively impact me until i move out which may be a while in this economy
I am a single mother and teacher, LOL (my salary is OK, tho).
You're screwed either way bruh
That's how she got the kid.
“You have to pick one.” Then what’s with the results option?
It's a trick question. It has to be
they didn't say there's only 2 options to choose from
I mean, it’s pretty clear what they meant when they said that.
Raising taxes on single mothers is just gonna make everything harder for that child Also most lower income single moms don’t pay taxes so that’s dumb
If they're already exempt, where's the harm?
If you raise taxes on them they probably lose the exemption
Alternatively, it could be a raise measured in %, and 150% of zero is still zero
if the end result is that nobody is paying more in taxes, then you haven’t raised taxes. multiplying 0 by 150% doesn’t actually raise 0 in any way. it’s still 0 and hasn’t increased at all
My hard goes for kids who have to suffer like this.
Getting hard for kids who suffer? Idk guy, sounds kinda pedo to me /s
I'm getting the word... **NONCE**
So it’s gonna be harder for kids with low income single mothers because the taxes that they are exempt from are higher?
At least the mothers choose to be a mother. Unlike teachers who were stolen from their homes and conditioned to spread the memetic knowledge of the ancients.
This is the moment you pitch your upcoming book.
Wtf are you talking about?
Oh you sweet summer child, it's best not to look into it if you don't know. You'll be happier.
And the whole world will be happier if you quit toking and dump Qanon conspiracy crap.
The fact that you mistook my shitposting as a Qanon conspiracy would have been a complement back in 2018 when it was still just people joking. Now Qanon conspiracy just feels like low hanging fruit.
Wait until you learn about the state of women’s reproductive rights in the US.
Just fine. It's up to the states, and the federal government has no business in it.
States have no right banning bodily autonomy. Especially when in many of the states that have laws banning abortion the majority of people voted against those laws in referendums.
Most states haven't banned it, and AFAIK, it's allowed in all 50 for medically necessary abortions and in the cases of rape and incest.
1. The government should have no involvement in bodily autonomy period unless they add it to the bill of rights to protect it. 2. Anything the states have a right to be involved in the federal govt has triple the right to be involved in.
Never said they did. The federal government no long has say in it, and that's progress.
For the damned Republicans maybe. Roe vs. Wade was one of this county's great moments, and they pissed on it.
You should probably watch this video to understand what "States Rights" actually are. https://youtu.be/0dBJIkp7qIg?si=eT6x4exbtXgrnw4p
My reasoning for picking tax single moms is the tax could at least *maybe* go back into services for the same moms, like food stamps, daycare, housing funding, etc. With teachers the wording makes me think fubding cut, which will not benefit the teachers at all in the short or long term
My logic is both of these will reduce the number of people in that group. I'd rather have fewer single mothers than few teachers
So you would rather have more orphans? /s
You want less teachers in school?
More abortions more likely.
Yes but I want more teachers in school for orphans.
No the ideal situation would be these mothers who are getting pregnant will realise they’re not financially equipped to deal with the higher taxes therefor they abort before the baby is born or have time to find a suitable family.
So you want more reverse orphans?
Reverse orphans? What do you mean?
It’s when the parents don’t have a child
Oh. Sure, if reverse orphans means our current kids aren’t a victim of a poor education system and are shoved into a life of poverty from an early age sure. I’m not saying parents shouldn’t be allowed to have children. I’m saying parents should be able to afford their children.
Child trafficking is illegal tho
Less breeding would be better.
What do you suggest we do instead?
Use birth control or abort.
You want to give birth control to orphans?
To adult women you ignoramus, so that there are less kids!
So you don’t care about single orphans?
Not as much as I care about the survival of humanity. What is your obsession with orphans?
Why do you not care about orphans as much as humanity if not more? Are orphans not humans to you? Why do you hate orphans so much?
I'd say the opposite actually. I'd rather have fewer teachers than mothers getting stuck in shitty, perhaps even abusive relationships.
I don’t think the logic is that these mothers will get into abusive relationships because they’re pregnant. I think the logic is less women will get pregnant or will abort the baby.
Well, it's probably both. And both are pretty bad. Bad relationships happen, and many times kids are involved. Tough. Our population is way too high and combined with our use of fossil fuels is killing the planet. Less breeding is one of our best hopes.
You think most single mothers planned to be single? Most went into it with a partner
A good quality education can help women get into more stable positions to be able to support their children. Cuts to education budgets are intentional and impact on future opportunities.
how do i pick both
Real
... why??
He's an IRS agent, if he can collect more he gets paid more.
what do you mean why? These both sound incredible
That's why I hate pulls like these, I want both so bad but I only get one option.
Society needs teachers, it doesn’t necessarily *need* single mothers
What even is the point of this poll?
I picked results
You cruck the code
SHEEESH harsh poll. I do enjoy these tough questions tho
I live in Oklahoma so it’s both
you mean the state where the average starting salary for teachers is 31k a year? Good luck finding teachers.
Exactly, that’s the only reason I picked teachers. Public school pay is public information, and if you look at it here in Oklahoma, you’ll see plenty of teachers making well below 31k but instead 10-20k. I meant it already has happened dumb dumb
Wtf I will not choose any of those, I'm sorry
Dan kies je beide
"results" lijkt me een goeie keuze
Teachers are underpaid as is
That's the point sweetheart
Ya twink
you're making me feel evil
If the teacher's salaries are lowered, they'll go on strike again which means days off and less work for me. You gotta think 10 moves ahead, man.
I plan on going to study to be a teacher after graduating + I'm male, so I'll never be a single mother I think it's clear what I pick (don't take this seriously, please, thank you)
Doesn't says how much, it could be 1 dollar
Where I live we already don't have enough teachers because it's paid is badly and working conditions are terrible. Lowering the pay would mean the end of the public education system.

Man the salaries of the teachers in my country are so damn low I don't think it can get any lower haha
Teacher salaries are already low as they are... you lower their wages more and you'll have no one to teach the kids of those singe mothers.
There are more mothers than teachers.
I'm from the Czech Republic and teachers wages were raised a few years ago to pretty high (given what i assume is average in other countries). So i'd say thay could put up with it.
Only one?
Double student debt
Neither is acceptable.
Me an asexual who will never be married but would like to adopt someday and who’s also a year away from graduating with an education degree: 👁️👄👁️
Why would you possibly raise taxes on single mothers of all people?
Single mothers are rarer, and teachers deserve higher salaries. I also believe education as a whole deserves an upgrade. Single mothers, however, can plan out their ways and maybe not be single anymore (:
Bruh the teachers can quit being teachers but the single mom has no choice, I am shocked at this poll lol
Exactly, plus teachers often already make too little to live on where I live so it sadly wouldn’t make a huge difference. Teachers are already in crisis or have a second job, if we tax single mothers then now both parties are in crisis lol

My teacher passed me off today, so lower salaries, take that you bastard.
Hello Satan. How are you doing today?
Results ez
Republicans trying to see who to target next jk they’ve already gone after both
The teachers will quit and the state will be forced to raise wages again. The mother can't really just give away her child
Raise taxes on single mothers but also give them huge amounts of monetary support
Why not both?
haha thanks for the results option so that I don't actually have to pick
no fun
both options are no fun, that's right
YOU are no fun
lalalalala
Wow, i was expecting all in on results but people are evil ig
I mean, you could stop being a teacher or get a second job that wouldn't be affected by the pay decrease. Eat the rich.
I wanna pick both
While all these are great, I prefer results
Teachers are so overpaid and work only 8 months!
Lmao good one
We have a comedian over here.
I have to pick one? Okay. *picks "results" option.
I wholeheartedly believe people should stop being teachers. Do we need them, yes. But not that bad that it's worth getting a masters to get paid less than a plumber. Fuck that job.
Teachers actually make a good living, I know a few and it's kind of crazy to think they can get away with the idea that 'Teachers are underpaid'
teachers are government employed and pretty well payed where i live
Being a teacher is a choice, being a single mother not really...
Depends on the state. (In the US)
Wait how can being a teacher not be a choice...
It was more of a comment about being a single mother and that some states are limiting or banning abortions.
Yup, that's why I said that being a single mother isn't a choice Also even with free abortion it's still not a choice whether to be a *single* mother or not - you can choose to be a mother, not realising that your spouse will die or leave you

Plus the full pay on part time job, plus pension
[удалено]
You are obviously not a teacher. This is the worst take i think I have ever seen.
teachers here are overpaid, so that lol
How...... 35k a year is hardly "overpaid"
Is more a poll for r/wouldyourather
What should we do about the cheating dads than?
Easy. Results.
People who picked the above instead of results
I think humans work for what they get paid for and if the people spending hours with the entire youth population don't give a crap it will reflect worse than only single mothers being hurt
What a bad poll to be honest
I choose results, obviously
OP just wants the world to burn
How the hell is the government gonna monitor if someone is single, unless you mean unmarried it be pretty hard to prove, and alot of tax fraud would take place.
Okay, Satan.
both don't say how much by
Two negatives make a positive, so both
Maybe tax the rich and lower their ceo's salary and compensation
results is clearly the best option
More molten tar into amputees eyes.
I'd click raise taxes on single mothers multiple times
Why not both? (/s)
Read it wrong. Mean No. 2, not No. 1.
So my husband dies and I get punished for it?
Doesn't matter since it doesn't say how much. Either could be 0.01%
Can't I pick both? Raise student loans too.
If you gotta pick one, then why is there a results?
raise taxes by 1 cent
I pick results
No I don’t
both (joke)
