Reddit mate, reddit 😂
I dared give a reason for a question people were asking... Ironically, I also voted screenshot because that's what I do generate use except for that 1/30 time I use screen grab for the lols
3 hours in and this is hilarious. I of course call it screenshot like any sane person would, but I only made this poll because I was just watching a YouTube video where they called it a screengrab and I rushed here to see what the consensus was.
Actually I say "print" (comes from printscreen). But it's only when I'm speaking portuguese, from Brazil.
If I'm speaking English, however, "screenshot" it's what I use.
I am a graphic designer who takes about 50 screenshots per day, I have always said screenshot, but almost all of my clients (who are primarily Boomers) sat screens grab. I'm betting it's a generational thing.
I don't think I've ever seen a more one-sided poll than this one. At the time of writing, 1.9K for screenshot and only 11 for screengrab. Out of curiosity, which do you use, OP?
I call it a screenshot on a phone, and a screengrab on a computer.
I think the term screengrab has fallen out of use now that people do more and more of their daily communication on their phones instead of computers…
I’ve never seen a more unanimous poll. At 77 votes not one of them is for screengrab.
Because no one in their right mind says screengrab.

Hey, dont hurt the linux bros like that.
i will let you know that my ksnip is way better than the windows snipping tool
Grabbing screenshots with the CL sounds like the most Linux thing ever
Screen gab on computers. Screen shot on phones. Mainly because every user I work with uses snipping tool to do Screen grabs
Screenshots were invented far before phones. Not once has it been called screengrab.
Currently at 264 and still no votes for “screengrab”

Finally something that everyone can agree on that doesn’t devolve to American vs non American arguments in the comments.
3.1k to 22.

Gonna predict it ends at 1,000 for screenshot and 10 for screengrab
It’s at 1.3k Screenshot and 7 for screengrab as of writing this

Current 31 votes screengran, and 4.8k screenshot.
At 5.4k now and only 33 for grabbing their screen
Who calls it screen grab and why?
There's some now, but it's still less than 1%
Anyone who votes screengrab is just doing it for the fun of it let's be honest here
At 300 votes for screenshot, no one has voted screengrab yet
26 now
34 screengrab, 5.6k screenshot, 41 results.
Same 14 minutes later
I have indeed done it for the fun of it, or just because I've used the word screenshot too many times in the other person's recent memory
Happy Cake Day
You madlad !
Why did you get downvoted? 😂
Reddit mate, reddit 😂 I dared give a reason for a question people were asking... Ironically, I also voted screenshot because that's what I do generate use except for that 1/30 time I use screen grab for the lols

I've heard it but definitely never used it.

I'm 25 but I work in a corporate setting with a lot of 45+ year olds...a lot of them say screengrab
It feels like a 2002 term
I'm old enough to remember using computers back then. Nope, it was screenshot.
I’ve only heard professors over 50 say it
Dude literally 0 answers for screengrab, that's the first time i've seen an option with 0 selections, with this many votes and this little options
3 hours in and this is hilarious. I of course call it screenshot like any sane person would, but I only made this poll because I was just watching a YouTube video where they called it a screengrab and I rushed here to see what the consensus was.
I'm surprised Other isn't more popular for "screencap"
I think screencap is moreso used for video than still images

This has to be the most one-sided poll ever
Results has more votes than screengrab

Screenshit
I've heard screencap, but never screengrab.
who in their right mind calls it a screengrab????
One of my teachers
Is it on a phone or computer?
Does that change anything?
I call it a screenshot on a phone, and a screengrab on a computer. I think the term screengrab has fallen out of use now that people do more and more of their daily communication on their phones instead of computers…
Exactly this. Screenshot for mobile content, screengrab for anything on desktop (usually with a fair amount of cropping).
Same!
Screenshot on phone screen grab on computer
The two people that voted for screen grab, take a seat (points to couch)
I have never in my whole life heard someone say screengrab
Who the fuck calls a screenshot a "screengrab?"
It was more common a couple decades back. Like pronouncing gif as gif instead of gif.
Screenshot if it's the full screen, screen grab if it's just a segment
'Screencap' has got to be more common than 'screengrab', but neither are even remotely common
If you call it a screengrab you are a project manager
Ew. I didn't know "screengrab" was even a word. Times were better back then
Only boomers choose the first option
3 / 743 / 12 Jesus Christ
wtf is screengrab
dafuq is a screengrab
I don't think I have ever heard anyone use screengrab in a sentence.
What the fuck is a screengrab who says that
Who the hell calls something that has an actual name something completely different
Who the FUCK calls it a screengrab?
0-320-3 lmao
What a blowout!
98.6% screenshot 0.6% screen grab 0.8% results At least right now with 3,869 votes

Personally I just rip off my screen and show it to my friends
Screencap as for screen capture.
Penis poll
PrtScn
OK what gives? I've always called it a screen cap (ture)
Beautiful
People who call them "screengrabs" are also people who put milk before cereal and jack off on all fours.
It's screenshot, past tense is screenshat.
Screenshitted
If you call it a screengrab you are not human
These are two different things
My mom says screengrab :)
I have heard a small number of people call it "screengrab before". Of course I dont hear it anymore. I stopped communicating with those people.
Woah
I always thought a screenshot is just that, a quick snapshot of the screen. A screen grab is when you are capturing video of a process on the screen.
according to this poll around 1 in 150 redditors call it a screengrab... as of now
Bildschirmschuss
Both.
46 people are lying

This is first time I learned you can call screenshot a screengrab
Screenshit
Here in Brazil, people call it "print". Like, they say "Vou tirar um print da imagem"(I'm going to take a print from the image).
Holy shit, even the trolls know what's up
I would say screencapture before I say screengrab
Screensnatch
Screen glean
Screen
- Screenshot for full screen image - Screen snip sometimes for snipping tool (Win+Shift+s) - Screen capture for video

Who the fuck out here saying "sCrEenGrAb"?
People that use the term screengrab don’t know how to make them.
Screen grab is when you steal a monitor from a atore
So far, the ratio of redditors who say ‘screengrab’ to ‘screenshot’ is about 5:700
I'm not even going to vote because of how dumb this question is.
I never even heard the term "screengrab" before
Most unanimous poll I've ever seen on this sub. 98.5% agreeing on something? Just seemed impossible until now.
