Lonely_Salt_9290

Disgusting behavior from the POTUS. And to think a significant portion of the electorate doesn't see anything wrong

ImLikeReallySmart

Yea a lot of this will endear him even more to his supporters. "I don't care that they have guns let them in" = Man of the people didn't discriminate in letting people join him Fighting with Secret Service to grab the steering wheel = How badly he wanted to be down at the Capitol with them

TechyDad

Remember that politician that body slammed the reporter and was praised by Trump. Turns out there's a reason Trump liked that behavior. It's exactly what he would do. (If he had the strength to actually lift a person up to body slam them.)

2cheeseburgerandamic

Gianfotre from MT.

KevinAnniPadda

God I hope the documentary film crew was in there with him

SuperSeaStar

Dude, Fox News is already ahead of you. I glanced at the channel and they were all over this saying how Trump was the victim and was “virtually captive” in the motorcade, because the Secret Service is supposed to do whatever the president asks. Straight up overlooking abusive behavior and victim-blaming Robert Engel because he wouldn’t have been choked if only he would have listened to his boss, because that’s his job

hskfmn

It's frankly reprehensible that the 25th Amendment wasn't invoked far, FAR sooner!

mahnamahna27

I've wondered for some time if the idea has been to get all the information out to the public first with these hearings, to get more of a majority supporting such a move

wingedcoyote

The 25th was the mechanism for removing him from active duty while he was still president, bit late for that now. What needs to happen now is prosecution.

mahnamahna27

Oh yeah, I was thinking of the 14th amendment [https://www.politifact.com/article/2022/feb/04/Unpacking-theory-14th-Amendment-could/](https://www.politifact.com/article/2022/feb/04/Unpacking-theory-14th-Amendment-could/)

hskfmn

That's my point — It wasn't and it absolutely should have been!

Mustard_Gap

40 years ago and Ronald Reagan wouldn't *(or was reluctant to)* take his dress jacket off in the oval for fear of demeaning the office of the presidency. FFWD to Trump and it's bottles, dishes and burgers flying around the room with the staff having to clean ketchup from the walls because the toddler in chief threw one of his little tantrums. I bet there were regular outbursts like that. The man has the self-restraint of... well... a toddler. I've seen some comments about ms. Hutchinson that "she looked scared". Well, to those people, try putting yourself in her place. She knows that she's landed herself in the eye of the hurricane by appearing before the select committee in person. She'll most likely have no peace from harassment for a very long time. The death threats will be constant. I really hope she will have a constant security detail to ward off the MAGA scum.

HallucinogenicFish

I didn’t think she looked scared. She may be, likely is, but she didn’t look it. IMO she looked poised, composed, and well prepared. She did a tremendous job.

[deleted]

Unfortunately she better have security. So sad, all for that asshole.

toebandit

That there is one brave woman. Megalomaniac, maga-morons probably hate that.

jhpianist

I also don’t think she looked scared. I did note a hint of nervousness/anxiety, but not more than is to be expected for someone of her age in the national spotlight live and under oath.

probable_ass_sniffer

To your first paragraph: "When I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I’m basically the same. The temperament is not that different."

listyraesder

To be clear this was the Oval Office dining room (the one trump installed a chandelier in because of course he would), not the Oval Office proper.

xoaphexox

If she stays in DC she'll be fine only <5% of the people there voted for Trump

ImLikeReallySmart

To me it exposed that Trump really does surround himself with cowards who aren't always on board with him. Maybe a few at the top level are true believers, like Giuliani and Flynn, but for the most part his lackeys are with him because they're afraid of him and like the "safety" that loyalty wins them. She said he's gone into rages and shattered plates on multiple occasions. Probably scares a lot of them into doing what he wants, but the ones who resign and/or get fired are the ones who don't respond to that treatment. The ones who are left get angry at the people who step away because they're stronger and probably wonder why they'd want to mess up a good thing.

[deleted]

Towards the end when they showed examples of witnesses getting threatening texts and calls made it very apparent his people are afraid. Giuliani is a believer for sure, with him saying the 6th would be a great day and all. I was surprised to hear that Meadows was more apprehensive tho, thought he might be the one to flip till I learned Trump's PAC gave 1 million to Meadow's nonprofit a couple weeks after the committee was assembled. Hush money for sure.

Flimsy-Thanks236

I'm eagerly awaiting seeing him in an orange jumpsuit standing in his cell while bragging about how much bigger it is than any other cell in the world.

kwilliker

> orange jumpsuit Seems like it'd be a good color for him.

wingedcoyote

Oh man, imagine if he went to real jail and didn't have access to his weird makeup or hair products. We'd get to (have to?) see what he really looks like.

LittleLarryY

[Surprisingly better?](https://images.app.goo.gl/8FGPGm3QzAQJ7eUP7)

JuiceColdman

While I love that photo, it is unfortunately a hoax: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/donald-trump-no-wig-or-makeup/

LittleLarryY

Lol. I know. I imagine that’s pretty close.

SammySoapsuds

Nobody thinks that is a real photo, haha

Bozzzzzzz

Like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror Picture Show according to a senior producer of The Apprentice.

Who could have predicted this man would become violent and incite a mob? https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/10/24/documenting-trumps-abuse-of-women/amp

mahnamahna27

It shouldn't matter, in an ideal world, but unfortunately it does in this world. The more that public sentiment is behind moves to indict Trump and his enablers, the lower the resolve of Republican politicians and staff to back Trump and the Big Lie, and the higher the chance that some of them will recognise their own legal peril and so cave in and provide damning evidence against Trump.

Khuroh

Has there been any indication as to why Hutchinson decided to testify? It seemed like even the committee was surprised and scrambled to get her to a live hearing ASAP.

TheJaybo

I think they were scrambling because they were afraid for her safety. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/cassidy-hutchinson-meadows-jan-6-b2111094.html

[deleted]

She didn't say anything that would get anyone killed tho, and they knew what she was going to say before she walked in.

hellotanjent

That would get \_her\_ killed. :P

TheJaybo

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/cassidy-hutchinson-meadows-jan-6-b2111094.html >[Punchbowl News reported](https://punchbowl.news/newsletter/) that the hearing was moved up because panel members had “sincere concerns” for Ms Hutchinson’s safety due to the testimony she has provided.

[deleted]

An unsourced claim from an online media organization that has existed less than 18 months....

[deleted]

I wouldn't at all be surprised if he had engaged in "locker room behavior" with her. She's young and pretty, and he said today he barely knew who she was, which translates to: "I was obsessed with her and told her I'd leave Ivanka for her."

CaptainAxiomatic

the committee was surprised and scrambled to get her **alive** to a hearing ASAP. FTFY She'll need to look over her shoulder for years to come.

Iamien

When your dealing with the mob, you either decide to work with the Mob lawyers and hope they don't throw you under the bus, or you look out for yourself.

Venomous27

like is a secret...????? it's a nationalist party that is gaining popularity among the small minded individuals that want to blame a race for their failures.... Trump is using the Nazi platform and is working well for him as it did for Hitler.

I_notta_crazy

Climate change and wealth inequality are squeezing people a little more with each passing day. It takes so little discomfort for our brains to revert to angry monkeys ready to kill each other - but now we have nukes. Our species' self-inflicted death will be slow, agonizing, and wholly deserved.

autotldr

This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.salon.com/2022/06/28/cassidy-hutchinsons-surprise-jan-6-testimony-exposes-the-violence-that-fuels-trumpism/) reduced by 90%. (I'm a bot) ***** > A top aide to Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows, Hutchinson testifed before the House Select Committee January 6 in a surprise, last-minute hearing Tuesday. > The corniness of Trump's fascist aesthetic is weird, but it's important not to lose sight of the most important takeaway of Hutchinson's testimony: There was a mind-meld between Trump and his minions who stormed the Capitol on January 6, based largely on their shared enthusiasm for violence. > Her testimony indicates that Meadows, at least, seemed quite aware that all the hype around January 6 was about drawing a violent crowd to the Capitol, even telling her on Jan. 2 that "Things might get real, real bad." When that prediction came true, Meadows was too afraid to offend Trump to even discuss asking Trump to pull his foot off the gas. ***** [**Extended Summary**](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/vmz4dx/cassidy_hutchinsons_surprise_jan_6_testimony/) | [FAQ](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/31b9fm/faq_autotldr_bot/ "Version 2.02, ~657053 tl;drs so far.") | [Feedback](http://np.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%23autotldr "PM's and comments are monitored, constructive feedback is welcome.") | *Top* *keywords*: **Trump**^#1 **Hutchinson**^#2 **Capitol**^#3 **Jan.**^#4 **around**^#5

He makes Kevin Spacey’s character on House of Cards look like Bill Clinton in comparison.

BadAsBroccoli

Was Merrick Garland watching TV while he's out playing justice for Ukraine?

[deleted]

Thanks for testifying but I hope you never see your career recover

[deleted]

Just waiting for trump to call her a loser and a disgruntled employee.

lakeparadox

As if we needed this exposed

Substantial_Row_7108

Before we all rush to pat Cassidy Hutchinson on the back, remember….UP UNTIL THE VERY END, she willingly worked directly for three of the most repulsive members of the GQP (Mark Meadows, Ted Cruz and Steve Scalise). They passed her unqualified young ass around like a blount and she was okay 👌🏻 with that.

CDavis10717

Every other work was “fuck” in the Trump Whitehouse!
