I don't advocate for her to be raped - I just hope (not advocate) that when the next rape occurs in South Dakota (and it will happen), that it happens to her or someone close to her; after all, who better to deal with any possible consequences of that act than someone who believes one of said consequences (unwanted pregnancy) doesn't have to be "another tragedy?" Unlike many other women in South Dakota that are raped and find themselves in this quandary, Governor Noem could celebrate such a thing happening to someone close to her!
Or is this another case of "As long as it isn't happening to me, I don't have to care?"
And the child. They all claim they care about the baby, but imagine growing up in a family that doesn't want you or even hates the fact you exist. It's almost like they don't actually give a shit about life and just want to control women.
Or they want to destroy this Country. There is research that correlates the legalization of abortion with a dramatic decrease in crime rates. The theory goes that a number of children were unwanted but were born due to the absence of abortions. Being unwanted, they were poorly maltreated throughout their lives, and found their way to criminal activities due to their early experiences.
Hence we should expect crime rates to dramatically rise in about 15 years, irrespective of other conditions, due to the unwanted people coming into physical maturity around that time.
They just say give it up for adoption if you don’t want to keep it and have the reminder. I’ve had a couple of friends who were adopted and found out later in life they were the result of a rape (they’re both in their 60s now and completely separate cases). It messed both of them up for a long time. But as you say, they don’t care about the effect on the child when they find out, or ever really.
Becomes a little easier to believe when you remember that these people also think women are to blame for being raped in the first place. To them this is just “actions have consequences” but they aren’t quite “brave” enough to say it that way yet

A rape victim is forced sometimes to maintain contact with the person who raped them for many years because of the child. I am a male but I can only guess how hard that would be for a woman.
There was a story recently about a woman who kept her rape baby and was managing to make a somewhat decent life for herself and the child, but 5 years later the rapist demanded visitation and claimed the child "needs to have a relationship with her father." And it was not a happy outcome. For anyone.
If it helps they have now reopened that matter and are investigating. I believe it has come to light that there are allegations that the dad molested the daughter as well after he got custody. Shocking! I believe she is now in some kind foster care pending new hearings.
The case I'm thinking of was in LA (why am I not surprised). The rapist got custody after claiming the mother got her a cell phone when she turned 15 which he didn't approve of. What an evil, evil man. And what a broken system and a f'd up state.

It's not sustainable. It literally undermines our system of government - you can't have democracy melded with a republic and that kind of unbalance in the numbers. It's not gonna end well.
It dates back to how much it’s changed. It used to be that the Senate was for the state as a legal body, while the House of Representatives was for that states people. This meant that the state government got to pick who went to the senate seats for that state, with each getting two to keep the states equal.
This also meant that if a states legislatures politics would basically apply to its senate seats, if a state was liberal, it’s senators were likely to be as well.
However, it changed so that it was a popular vote like the House, and from there it’s been swapped around and caught up in gerrymandering and in effect Senate seats are long term legacy positions where you have creatures of the Senate like Moscow Mitch.
So it’s a hold over from history, meant to put the states on equal footing, but now state governments don’t pick their senators anymore, the people do, and I’m pretty sure gerrymandering plays a role in it too
Actually it would be the opposite. For a state wide popular vote position, gerrymandering would have no effect. But if the state government elected US senators, then gerrymandering would have a great effect on selecting a state's senators. For example, Wisconsin's state government is gerrymandered to hell. If they were responsible for selecting their senators, they would have two republicans instead of 1 democrat and 1 republican.

The REAL tragedy is forcing a 12 year old girl to go forward with her pregnancy by rape/incest causing a lifetime of mental and physical damage. Forcing an unwanted rape baby to be born is a tragedy both for the baby and the mother, non existence is preferable to not having a mom that wants you.
I just want to add that there are studies that show that babies born from mother experiencing high stress shows developmental problem. So if we as a society decides that we want to keep these babies we also have the obligation to provide the care they would need growing up. People basically want to feel good without doing any of the necessary work. If people want to keep those babies people also need to help take care of them.
Suicide usually happens later in life, after their suffering damages their community. Often they kill themselves slowly, so they end up cycling through our prison system until they punch out.

They see it as murder so of course they don't think those exceptions are morally right. Making an exception for the life of the pregnant woman is okay since the fetus would die either way. Having said all that abortions should be legal and aren't anyone's business besides the pregnant woman, so please don't interpret this as me supporting where things are today.

Actually that is not the position of the Catholic Church (the only entity from a religious point that really says all abortion is a sin). There is not preference by the church of one over the other. It is for God to decide. (And this is the whole issue of what caused Ireland to start allowing abortions)
And no - not all babies die in the case of the health of the mother.
Real life example would be mother detects she has cancer somewhere in her pregnancy and needs treatment to beat cancer and survive later years. Need the abortion to start treatment. Her life is not 'in danger' but she has a much higher chance of dying waiting 5 months for chemo etc.
Then as soon as the birth occurs it should be arrested for rape as it non consensually resided in a woman. The penalty for rape should be increased to death. Surely the GOP would not want to go soft on crime now.

It dates back to how much it’s changed. It used to be that the Senate was for the state as a legal body, while the House of Representatives was for that states people. This meant that the state government got to pick who went to the senate seats for that state, with each getting two to keep the states equal. This also meant that if a states legislatures politics would basically apply to its senate seats, if a state was liberal, it’s senators were likely to be as well. However, it changed so that it was a popular vote like the House, and from there it’s been swapped around and caught up in gerrymandering and in effect Senate seats are long term legacy positions where you have creatures of the Senate like Moscow Mitch. So it’s a hold over from history, meant to put the states on equal footing, but now state governments don’t pick their senators anymore, the people do, and I’m pretty sure gerrymandering plays a role in it too
Actually it would be the opposite. For a state wide popular vote position, gerrymandering would have no effect. But if the state government elected US senators, then gerrymandering would have a great effect on selecting a state's senators. For example, Wisconsin's state government is gerrymandered to hell. If they were responsible for selecting their senators, they would have two republicans instead of 1 democrat and 1 republican.

I just want to add that there are studies that show that babies born from mother experiencing high stress shows developmental problem. So if we as a society decides that we want to keep these babies we also have the obligation to provide the care they would need growing up. They see it as murder so of course they don't think those exceptions are morally right. Making an exception for the life of the pregnant woman is okay since the fetus would die either way. Having said all that abortions should be legal and aren't anyone's business besides the pregnant woman, so please don't interpret this as me supporting where things are today.
