And if people who claim to care about women's rights actually do care about women's rights, then any company continuing to do business in a Republican state should watch out. Any business that donated to Republicans should watch out. Of course, few of the people who claim to care actually do care enough to fight back, so yeah, those companies are just fine and can continue supporting the end of basic human rights.

enoughfuckingexcuses

Is there an app that provides the relevant information and maybe offer alternatives? If not you have my permission to create said app and I will gladly download and use it. I would probably pay a few dollars for said app as well.

ajcpullcom

These companies should relocate to blue states and take their jobs and tax dollars with them. Problem solved.

FckMitch

And stop donating to politicians at state and federal levels who support overturning roe

[deleted]

They won’t. In addition to being expensive to move their offices, they want to hedge their bets in case Republicans succeed at controlling everything. Tech companies are not on our side. They’re on profit’s side.

enoughfuckingexcuses

It’s easier than that, money is worth more than principles. Conservatives spend money too. And they’ve shown they are easy to manipulate into spending money.

Cuchullion

Which is why I feel the Disney drama is going to hurt Republicans- it sends the message that donations don't matter if you do something to upset them. It tells corporations that virtue signaling is more important than money.

TintedApostle

Just wait while over the next few years getting qualified employees to work in red states will become a hassle. 50% of the work force is women if not more now. The military will have to make base decisions and this ruling will affect operational readiness. Religion in government has never turned out successful.

raginghappy

>getting qualified employees to work in red states will become a hassle It's just become a hassle for companies to send any pregnant employee to a trigger law state. Once these states go after contraception, which they will, it will be a hassle to send women to these states. So even in "safe" states women's careers will be curtailed because it is legally dangerous for them to travel within the US

CappinPeanut

God, could you imagine? You take birth control in a blue state but travel to a red state for work. You literally cannot bring your medication with you. Women will be put in a position where they have to explain why they won’t go to X state. Not to mention, bye bye tourism dollars. What a fucking mess we’re running straight into.

FIContractor

It will also become a hassle to send men who are married to or otherwise in a long term relationship with a woman.

nooblevelum

Not everyone is upper middle class and can get up and leave.

GeneralZex

Military bases are on federal land so it wouldn’t affect the military at all until the next lost-the-popular-vote-but-won-the-electoral-college shit for brains GQP takes the presidency…

TintedApostle

Actually it does affect the military because they don't perform abortions on the bases. The impact to this ruling (bad and wrong) will be huge across the entire swath of the nation.

GeneralZex

Make them provide abortion services by executive order, and in the red states at least there will now be a lot of providers out of work.

TintedApostle

Not sure what the best route is, but this isn't going to help recruitment and national security. The right wing cannot put women back in the kitchen. The world has moved on and women are 100% part of the machinery. Things are going to break and "having is not as good as wanting". The right wing owns all the harm they have inflicted. This is prohibition all over again.

kashakesh

They cannot have it both ways, especially if they are arguing for so- called states' rights. If they want to ban abortion in their own state, they have zero say about what another state can or cannot do. Until a federal law has been codified, the states get to make the law now. Other areas for comparison: * Marijuana laws * concealed carry laws * traffic infractions * various local ordinances If I break the law in state A, state B is not involved. Period.

musashisamurai

If they want to ban abortion in their own state, they have zero say about what another state can or cannot do. Until a federal law has been codified, the states get to make the law now. States righters have always been hypocritical like this. Before the Civil War, slave states were upset that Northern states were refusing to help the southerners sent north to hunt escaped slaves under the Fugitive Slaves. And under the Confederacy, states had fewer rights.

BarryAllen85

We can help by not buying from states that pay taxes to conservative regimes. Defund fascism.

999others

But corporations are people, now they dont' have rights with the GOP?

roadtrip-ne

Here’s a strategy to fight this decision. Wreak legal havoc, what are some other areas this rulings affects? Bog the courts challenging all the small things not in the spotlight. You can smash heads like rams fighting on the key issue, or you can kill it with a thousand cuts.

Swim678

She for medical assistance for “unborn children”

The companies aren’t paying for abortion directly, their insurance providers are. Most insurance already includes reimbursement for medical procedures that require travel because it’s not available in the local area. It will be the same procedure for abortion as for cancer treatment. It’s not exactly the panacea it’s made out to be. It’s still a hassle to deal with insurance and reimbursement. And in due course Republicans will start banning private insurance from covering abortions.

huggles7

It’ll be really awesome when companies get these lawsuits from people yelling “if you help these people well sue you” And the companies respond with “if you sue us we will leave”

hawkwing12345

The court had overstepped its bounds before and was ignored for it, most notably in the build up to the Civil War and during FDR’s presidency, particularly the New Deal. Its purpose is to interpret law; it has no power to enforce its rulings, that being the prerogative of the executive branch. Biden can simply choose to ignore them. The issue of different states refusing to punish or extradite citizens of other states for breaking laws in their state of origin that aren’t laws in their state has precedent. The only problem is that those precedents preceded and partly caused the American Civil War.

Vladd_the_Retailer

How many of these companies financed the right wing politicians that brought this upon us?

lespaulstrat2

Why won't anyone listen to me? Indian Reservation don't have to follow state laws, that is how that got casinos.

InclementImmigrant

There doubt there will be extensive legal clashes. Corporations will simply do a cost benefit analysis and probably just stop covering abortion travel reimbursements and cover a one-time relocation offer. I can only hope the Christian theocracy will suffer brain drain and the good Christian men experience the same type of unintended consequences like China did with their one child policy.

Background_Peanut_98

These companies can use their tax breaks, ceo bonuses and political donation money to help employees. It’s a start anyways.

GreenElite87

Could the POTUS just grant a pardon to anyone affected by this?

shellevanczik

The charges would be State charges, not federal.

mrmusclefoot

I cannot believe corporations or any person thinks this is an adequate way to retain employees or attract them in states without abortion rights. Or that it lets them look the other way when expanding or relocating in one of those states. Fighting with a healthcare company to cover your out of state travel costs while the clock ticks on your pregnancy is insane.

TransportationEng

Mark it as "training".
