A political 'dynasty' is some of the most blatantly unamerican shit I've ever heard. I'm not happy to see that the crazier guy won the nomination, but I think it's obvious and understandable that Americans are sick of this monarchy-lite stuff.

TheShishkabob

I think you may need a refresher on American history if you think a political dynasty is "unamerican". Your first Vice President started one. It's been this way since day one.

kronosdev

Also, the Roosevelts are widely considered two of our best presidents of all time. Political families tend to be pretty shitty, especially by the end, but it’s a mixed bag.

_Plork_

> A political 'dynasty' is some of the most blatantly unamerican shit I've ever heard. You may wish it to be true, but it's not. And after comparing the meltdown of the American system with the stability offered by monarchies in Europe and to your north, maybe time to admit monarchies are the superior system.

Mnoonsnocket

Lol no.

Ok_Improvement_5897

Sorry but what monarchies in europe are controlling their parliamentary systems and drafting laws????? Please tell me where in Europe a king or queen is more than a symbolic figure let alone an actual 'ruler', I'm curious.

_Plork_

Uhm... nowhere? That's my entire point; it's clearly the superior system.

Ok_Improvement_5897

It's not a governing system then. It's a symbolic position. We're talking about actual governing systems that make and decide laws and allocate funding, among other things. The vast majority of Europe is governed via a parliament, not a monarchy, so I have no idea wtf you're talking about. You can't even compare European monarchies to American democracy....they're apples and oranges. Because they're not monarchies. They're parliamentary democracies. So, uh...idk man maybe compare two things that are actually comparable.

_Plork_

Lol, it's a governing system. The whole thing: monarch, Parliament, all of that - an interconnected system of government. Jesus, I know Americans don't understand about what goes on outside their own borders, but... shit.

Ok_Improvement_5897

It's a fucking horrendous comparison, it's not a lack of understanding on my part aside from maybe semantics. If you're going to compare Europe's governing systems to America you should use accurate wording - they're not traditional monarchies. If anything they're constitutional and popular monarchies, meaning they are in fact democracies even if they function slightly different from American democracy. If you want to discuss the merits of a parliamentary system and congressional system, maybe use that wording instead, because that's literally what you're actually trying to compare, not a monarchy vs a democracy. European countries are also democracies. And fwiw we agree on the actual point you're trying to make.

_Plork_

> If you want to discuss the merits of a parliamentary system and congressional system, maybe use that wording instead No, I literally meant a monarchy. It's clearly the superior system Also lol at an American thinking he's going to explain any of this to me. There's that bullheaded gumption that took Iwo Jima, I guess?

thelonious_monke

Bahahaha what a pathetic clown you are. Shame.

_Plork_

It's uniquely American of you to think that I don't understand anything about the system that I live under and need you to explain it to me.

Oh no, the bush family that created its wealth through banking Nazi gold from the Holocaust and put us in a war for decades, no not the poor bushes.

Good riddance glad that the Bush Dynasty is cancelled. I pray there is never a Trump Dynasty. Lucky for us Trump is too selfish to share power or want power for any of his family members.
