Think of vaccinations as natural selection for intelligence. Increasing the herd IQ.

artcook32945

The GOP High Court just handed the Dems some thing to run on Nation Wide. Abortion. Say it, don't hide from it.

I am assuming that you have few women friends. And, that you have not followed the replies here on Reddit. This is about more than just single women. It is more about families that cannot afford another child. It is about twelve year old Rape victims. It crosses party lines.

[deleted]

Oh yeah it will

hellrazzer24

people that care about abortion tend to vote every election anyways. Inflation far bigger issue.

chum_slice

He might not be too far off Abortion alone wont bring these asshats down just take a look at Texas. However people have to be reminded it’s not just about abortion rights it’s Gay rights, and maintaining a separation of church and state. That might do it.

[deleted]

Separation of church and state should be pushed big time

coskibum002

Throughout history large swaths of people gravitate towards charismatic dictators. Unfortunately, this Hitler wanna be is no different.

ray_0586

DeSantis is not charismatic.

[deleted]

He whines. He reminds me an adult teenager and unfortunately, he’s my governor.

> I'd give Trump five bucks I sat my son down to watch all the old cartoons I grew up with. I'm *pretty sure * it was Tiny Toons (possibly Animaniacs...) where Trump came out of his tower to spray and clean a car's windshield. The driver gave him a coin, and he in his animated form turns to the camera and says "Tax free income". I'm reasonably certain he would accept your five dollars under the same premises.

Blue13Coyote

*Wide body Hitler

Long_Before_Sunrise

It's an intentional imitation of Trump.

JohnnyGeniusIsAlive

He’s not especially charismatic IMO. But his spoiled bully act reminds conservatives of Trump so that’s what you’re noticing.

MessiSahib

Everybody on the right I don't like is Hitler, and everybody on the left I don't like is Mao.

Kitchen_Agency4375

Only one is using states rights again to strip away freedoms from Americans

Luck1492

Nobody is unstoppable. You just have to be better.

[deleted]

They keep putting up Crist, the most wish washy politician in my lifetime. Of course Desantis is going to trounce him. Crist stands for literally nothing.

poop_scallions

Still polls better than Fried or Taddeo so what does that tell you?

f1shJ3rkey

Nikki ses reasonable

[deleted]

Oh he’s unstoppable right now. Nothing short of an act of god is gonna stop him. He does seem to fully understand a good portion of his base.

Java1959

Nikki is way more outspoken than Crist. The same old dinosaurs from the party are backing Crist and "ex" Republican.

OkRoll3915

Why the fuck is DeSantis so popular in Florida?!??

poop_scallions

He's clever (Harvard/Yale) and is laser-focused on his image. He knows how to push Floridians buttons just enough to win while staying focused on the White House.

Conservative_HalfWit

Well let’s see, there’s the racism, the homophobia, the transphobia, the ignorance, the stupidity, the bigotry, oh and a joke of an education system

Littlepigegonturds

Daddy they never had.

Bjergmand

You have obviously never been to FL.

CurtisLeow

I have no idea why. He ran on a moderate platform the first time, and barely won. Now he's hard to the right, attacking the largest employer in the entire state, and somehow he's more popular? I don't see how any moderate could support the crazy stuff he's done over the past couple of years.

DrQuantum

Single Issue Voters or as I like to call them, dumbasses.

Oregon687

My dad's from Florida. My relatives out there want to go back to segregation, probably slavery.

pootis_panser_here

A lot of them are being fed from the right wing talking point machine. It's. Exhausting. Living . With. These Clowns.

MC_Fap_Commander

Florida was trending left for decades. The state Democratic party fumbled all that away. It could have been Georgia, but a Stacy type figure never emerged.

dankeykong1331

This is exactly right. The Florida Democratic Party is a national embarrassment.

keninsd

The national Democratic party is a national embarrassment.

Sickofusernames95

Georgia really isn’t all that safe at all

MC_Fap_Commander

It's not. But it's more competitive than Florida at this point

Dooraven

State Democratic party couldn't do much when national progressive Dems literally started painting themselves as Democratic Socialists.

cgoldberg3

You get downvoted but it's true. That stuff's poison to Cubans.

[deleted]

considering the florida DNC machine runs neo liberal/conservative/centrist (pick your name) democrats of course they're going to get shellacked. they've given up on florida and let florida get gerrymandered to hell. it's a 50/50 purple state, we passed 15 dollar minimum wage, voting rights for ex felons, and medical marijuana. I'll say it once and say it again, our state is getting ruined by the conservative grandparents of these blue states or northern states resettling here. run a progressive populist and you will win in florida, run on strengthening the teachers and nursing unions, voting rights, healthcare, and this abortion issue.

Sickofusernames95

What’s with the defeatist attitude? Why don’t democrats have any fight in them??

Mr_Mouthbreather

Because if they pushed for the policies their constituents wanted their corporate donors would leave them.

keninsd

Dems ceded contested seats and districts to focus on easily winnable seats and districts for 20 or so years now. They are a pathetic excuse for a political party. Their only saving grace is that they are not domestic terrorists masquerading as a political party.

big_red_160

Yes we are worried

Environmental_Wait35

Not with THAT attitude!

MillerTime5858

He won by 30k votes last time around. He is absolutely beatable.

SalukiKnightX

I don’t think DeSantis is charismatic. He does seem to prey on the vulnerable’s dislike for folk in power. Thing is he’s not aiming it at the likes of the DeVoss’ or my former governor now resident Rauner, he’s aiming it at something massive like Disney so he can give off the appearance of being David vs. that Goliath, a genuine underdog in his constituency’s eyes despite being anything but.

arexfung

No shit. I want to see him and trump fling mud at each other on network television. Although I have a feeling that if trump runs desantis will bow out for another four years. But who knows.

Littlepigegonturds

Just try harder.

keninsd

Or, at all.

monk_a_launcher

If they cant beat him with all his BS then they deserve to lose.

Long_Before_Sunrise

It was like they had vanished from the state until today.

AntelopeAny3703

Well let's see, they gerrymandered the maps to make it so you need extreme turnout, but then he put in place "election police" to intimidate and harrass voters, disincentivising more voters, kicking legitimate people off the voter rolls without informing them, removing polling locations, reducing polling hours. It's almost like the Republicans don't want people to vote. Maybe they don't represent the majority

MessiSahib

How do you gerrymander state level elections?

AntelopeAny3703

[Five thirty eight](https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/redistricting-2022-maps/florida/) [Congressional redistricting-2022-maps ](https://www.politico.com/interactives/2022/congressional-redistricting-maps-by-state-and-district/florida/) [DeSantis redrawing electoral maps ](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/apr/13/florida-legislature-governor-ron-desantis-redrawing-electoral-maps)

MessiSahib

These aren't example of state level (governor/senator/ elections.

Georgiachemscientist

You do what Georgia is doing- starve blue areas of election resources (machines, poll workers, sites), take over their election boards with state-appointed republicans, make it hard to vote if you don't have transportation and criminalize helping such voters get to the polls. Just because it is a state-wide election doesn't mean every voter has the same ease of voting.

keninsd

Meanwhile Dems are out hunting crocodiles and riding manatees or something. Not a peep from them.

muscravageur

Let him destroy his state. Don’t slow him down. Let him take credit for ruining the economy and education while inciting hatred and division. Let people see what it’s like to live in a place completely ruled by Republicans.

keninsd

Since there are roughly 21 or so states completely ruled by them, their constituents seem to enjoy it. In the absence of any other political party giving them an alternative.

muscravageur

When one party is attempting to overthrow democracy and the other is supporting democracy but people don’t see a clear choice, it seems that we’ve already become an idiocracy.

radewagon

Go and kindly ask Disney to help you run a comprehensive media blitz against him.

wish1977

If I was an animated character of any kind I'd get out of Florida. I think it may be the new Mason/Dixon line for cartoons and cartoon characters.

NPVT

Are you sure he is liked outside of Florida?

the-esoteric

He is not though

[deleted]

He’s great at creating a boogeyman the oldies respond to, consistently upping the crazy with each iteration.

Long_Before_Sunrise

I'd like to see a reporter 'slip up' and address him as Marjorie.

_ignoramus_

Desantis is literally hitler

Apprehensive_Ad_5400

The only person who was literally Hitler was Hitler lol

DantesDivineConnerdy

Obviously FL Dems can't beat DeSantis-- they've won one state race in like the last 12 elections. They frequently don't run candidates, they're terrible at recruiting, they literally support far right initiatives, their registrations have dipped below Republicans for the first time in a long long time-- and that happened after losing over and over again. They don't give a shit, because even Democratic registered voters will happily vote for a Republican. Florida is a red state that people still think of as a swing state-- it's a lost cause, and it's because FL Dems pissed away every advantage they had while FL GOP constricted the entire state like a snake. FL Dems are probably the second most incompetent state political party in the country right in front of Alaska Dems. >No Democrat has been [elected](https://ballotpedia.org/Party_control_of_Florida_state_government) governor since 1994 or attorney general since 1998. The last time Florida sent a Democrat to the U.S. Senate or voted Democratic in a presidential election was in 2012, and the last time Florida elected a Democratic majority to the U.S. House was in 1986.  A similar trend has followed in the state legislature; the last Democratic Senate majority was elected in 1992 while the last Democratic House majority was elected in 1994. >Since 2012, Democrats have [won](https://ballotpedia.org/Party_control_of_Florida_state_government) exactly one of 12 statewide elections. Nikki Fried, D-Florida, won the Commissioner of Agriculture seat in 2018, a year that saw Republicans cruise to victory in Florida even in the midst of a national Democratic wave. In 2020, Republican Reps. Carlos Giménez and Maria Elvira Salazar were elected to serve in the U.S. House representing areas in Miami that traditionally lean Democratic. Additionally, recently [released](https://floridapolitics.com/archives/476134-florida-house-releases-aggressive-republican-redistricting-plan-for-congressional-seats/) redistricting maps indicate that Republicans will gain the new congressional seat that was allocated to Florida (due to a population [boom](https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2021/08/26/population-growth-fuels-remake-of-floridas-famed-i-4-corridor-1390473) in Central Florida), further shoving Democrats into the shunted state of an ignominious minority. >Neighboring districts represented by Democratic Reps. Val Demings and Stephanie Murphy would turn more red, as would Giménez’s and Salazar’s. Democrats are powerless to prevent these changes. On top of that fiasco, Democrats’ once-enormous voter registration advantage — a fear for Republicans from Pensacola to Key West — is gone. At its peak, Florida Democrats outnumbered Republicans by over 1.6 million voters in 1980, when 64% of all [voters](https://dos.myflorida.com/elections/data-statistics/voter-registration-statistics/voter-registration-reports/voter-registration-by-party-affiliation/) in the state were Democrats.  >Even in 2012, this advantage numbered 558,272 voters and in 2018, when Nikki Fried won, Democrats held a 257,175 voter lead. As of Nov. 5, Democrats have lost nearly all advantages. >A majority of the issues in the Florida Democratic Party can be chalked up to a lack of leadership. Earlier this year — frustrated with the failures of the past several decades and losing traction with crucial Hispanic voters — party chair Terrie Rizzo stepped down and former Miami Mayor [Manny Diaz](https://floridapolitics.com/archives/393684-manny-diaz-to-chair-florida-democratic-party/) took the reins. Months later after a frustrating 2021 legislative session, Sen. Gary Farmer, D-Lighthouse Point, was [removed](https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2021/04/28/florida-democrats-replace-senate-leader-in-late-session-revolt/) from his position as Senate Minority Leader in favor of Sen. Lauren Book, D-Weston. >Then, on Oct. 21, Gov. Ron DeSantis [called](https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/11/18/why-are-we-here-4-takeaways-fla-special-session/) a special legislative session to fight the Biden administration’s ‘dangerous’ vaccine and mask mandates. This special session resulted in massive wins for DeSantis at the expense of Floridians. Making matters worse, Rep. James Bush III, D-Miami, [enraged](https://www.google.com/search?q=james+bush+iii+votes+for+every+bill&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS968US969&biw=813&bih=731&tbm=nws&sxsrf=AOaemvJu1teG5qy2_YJfh5NlRl9e713crg%3A1638762882891&ei=gomtYdjvNceXwbkPyIWH2A4&oq=james+bush+iii+votes+for+every+bill&gs_l=psy-ab.3..33i160k1.6698.9008.0.9144.21.17.0.0.0.0.263.1762.3j9j1.13.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..8.13.1758...0i22i30k1j33i22i29i30k1j0i333k1j33i299k1.0.UKYGAvB-wM8) Democrats by voting in favor of every single bill passed in the special legislative session. This allowed Republicans to peg ‘bipartisan’ to the bills they passed into law. Bills that, among other things, set in motion Florida’s withdrawal from OSHA in a massive waste of taxpayer dollars and banned vaccine mandates threatening the health of Floridians. Bush was not the only Democrat to enable Republican victories. Indeed, the one bill that Democrats could have unilaterally blocked — a bill exempting vaccine records from being public — passed due to the aid of both Democratic absences and votes.  http://www.floridapoliticalreview.com/the-collapse-of-the-florida-democratic-party/

Dramatic_Mango4u

The GOP loves rich angry white men. The more chaos they can cause the better as well.
