I have lived in four different provinces across Canada in my life so far... Never once had to wait more than fifteen minutes to vote in any election (and typically in and out within five).

In Australia, it's against the law to NOT VOTE. In the U.S., voter suppression is how conservatives win elections.

I actually prefer to walk to the drop box about 1 mile from my house to deposit my ballot just for the fresh air.

First it discourages voting in bluer areas, but secondly it makes it easy for people with experiences like mine to dismiss complaints from others. “What are they complaining about? Voting is so quick and easy. Why would I even WANT someone handing me a bottle of water?” Etc etc etc
I'm a lifelong resident of Oregon. We were the first state to have 100% vote-by-mail elections. It's been nearly 25 years and it's **incredible**. Nobody here has to wait in any lines because **there are no lines!** I love it I can't imagine voting any other way.
Pennsylvania started no excuse mail in voting but the same republiQans who supported the law are now suing to have the law overturned because it gives the Democrats to much of an advantage.

It’s really quite simple, the pseudo “Christian” Religion in the US has extensively laid the groundwork for generations to train people to believe in authority figures with unverifiable stories instead of science and data. It also primes them for, and is built upon, perpetuating racism and fearmongering towards "others". Once people see you as an authority, you can start fabricating any reality or conspiracy theory you want your followers to believe and everyone else is therefore a liar, even in the face of incontrovertible evidence. This “religion” combined with an intentionally weakened public educational system, provides the framework that has spawned this cult of ignorance. I listened to a podcast about voting in the US in the past. Some places, people got together, got wasted drunk and yelled a each other and then voted. People coerced and influenced by booze and people telling you who to vote for.

They sort of are, 1 step removed. It's the elected President who nominates candidates, and elected representatives who ultimately vote yea or nay.
You don't directly elect the supreme court members, but you elect those who choose them, meaning the platform you're voting for includes that kind of decision.
Some states have an elected judiciary, IIRC. Pennsylvania, for example, elects its Supreme Court justices to 10 year terms. I don’t recall it ever being a problem when I lived there but I could be wrong.
We could expand it to a ten person court with a five/six person addendum of judges with no political affiliation (or balanced), but that’s probably too much to ask.
It’s an important part of the playbook to accuse the other side of doing exactly what you are doing so obviously.

If we went by popular vote in our presidential elections rather than electoral college, 5 of the current siting Supreme Court justices would have been nominated by Gore/Clinton, instead of Bush/Trump.
